@@shane864theyre down on power stock. Way more fun fbo flex fuel. Speaking as a 5.0 owner with a buddy who has an fk8 ive driven since before it was modded. Waaaaay more fun when its damn near as fast as the 5.0
Great video. I had no idea a shop would be fined for installing a high flow catted down pipe. Usually it’s the catless down pipes that they won’t touch. Very interesting and good info to know.
Wow, this channel has the best FK8 Type R content by a mile on UA-cam. Great reviews and install instructions, as well as outstanding camera work, editing and production value. You truly have superior talent for this. Don't ever sell your FK8, and keep making these videos.

Love your videos and how your car is tastefully modded. You pay attention to form, but function is a top priority. I was never a fan of exhausts on these platforms as I was told that they dont really yield any power, but the fact that you were able to get one with an aftermarket d/p to sound so nice, I'm impressed

You can alway's use safety wire on that heat shield and it will hold just fine and not rattle if done tight enough. Great Video.

I've always wondered why the West Coast doesn't have much 93. I live i. Alabama and 91 is rare here but 93 is almost everywhere. I will say it's a lot harder to find different types of specialty fuels though. You can sometimes find them at MAPCOs.

TOP HILL STUDIO The metal box around the air filter soaks up way too much heat from the engine bay therefore not really bringing in cold air. Living in Arizona doesn’t really help either 😂
It’s difficult to state a negative comment for PRL product and state a point to which the viewer needs to decide whether a lower temperature reading on the intake a pro or a negative. 🧐? Lol
Respect for being smart on his word usage comparing both products even though PRL paid him to not state a negative comment.

@18:26 not sure how an IAT sensor giving an artificially high reading will cause knock, since i thought increased IAT temp readings will retard timing, reducing knock possibility. it would increase knock if it read artificially low ... then the air temp would actually BE higher, the sensor would READ lower, ADVANCING timing and with high actual air temps AND advanced timing THAT creates knock.

Hey man. What gasket did you use to put between front pipe and downpipe. Do you have a link to buy one? AWE doesn’t provide one and recommends using the stock circular ring gasket off the old front pipe.

Do type Rs still require you to remove you ecu n send it out to get unlocked or is there a software from ktuner or hondata to tune it?
You seem to be an expert at tuning these civic type R. Do you have any idea if there is a company out there speciazing on tuning the Honda electronics? Offering fine tuning of driving modes, adding personalized driving modes?

When you put together Total Cost could you please add in "ASSEMBLY" i.e. A Shop Did It For Me !!c (VIVID- I get it). And those fantasy pictures of shop guys polishing the exhaust is precious. This shit DOES NOT HAPPEN in real life.
The PRL intercooler actually performs incredibly poor. You can watch it heating up in the middle of pulls. The Perrin performs better in that price range but if that doesn't to someone, the Mishimoto is the way to go for an actual bolt on. The full race is even better but it's not a straight up mount and go. Prl is better than stock but there is better options

I have no idea how anyone runs the AWE Touring with an aftermarket DP without the AWE Duel Phase Midpipe. The drone inside the cabin was atrocious before I installed that midpipe. Imo it should just come with it. It was literally unbearable
Can you shed some light on how you got the guages to show up on your center display? I'm assuming you need to root the head unit to install apps on there?

If your trying to set records at a racetrack go catless. But if it’s a street car don’t go catless. Sure, I had straight piped street cars but that was in my 20’s. going catless is a F-U to the environment and people around you on a street driven car imho.

Was this too loud inside the cabin...drone wise? I had Legamax with catless pipe and it was fine...but didn't like the tips.
I have pretty much the same bolt ons except different manufactures , Mishimoto inter and intake , rv6 over pipe and catted down and both turbo blankets . I haven't installed them yet due to the fact hondata on quarantine. would you recommend to wait for the tune first ? thanks
You might get a CEL with the downpipe, unless you have Hondata to disable the 02 sensor
Point of curiosity.. why did you overlay pneumatic impact sounds over your cordless impact use? Lol really not a big deal just struck me as a little odd.
Nice vid. I don’t think it’s worth the huge amounts of money for bolt ons. If people want more power: more displacement or bigger turbo. And a good idea the former if doing a bigger turbo. That’s where gains are seriously felt and timed. Dropping big cash for 30hp or 2 tenths of a second is ridiculous. Bigger pistons and or turbo. Just my .02cents. Thanks!

Thanks for all of the reviews, have been debating about the exhaust for months, the AWE touring was one I’ve been debating and sounded amazing on your clip. It’s price tag is perfect as well vs 2k plus ones which may sound marginally better. For a daily (one or two track days a year), would you go PRL IC/pipes over HKS?

@@TORQToolbox Thanks. After buying the Hondata unit do you also have to send in your ECU to be flashed? Looking at Hondata website it seems that way prior to any base tunes or custom can be done
@@buckwild02 nope.... Buy the unlock for 250 on the website and enter your order number to unlock it it's 700 for the hondata and 250 for the unlock

@@buckwild02 ya hondata is roughly 1000 but it's a better tuning platform than ktuner in my opinion and has a great reputation...
I'm full bolt ons in my type R I have a custom tune. But my wife has a 2017 SI and she has no bolt ons and has run the base map for 2 years... Base maps on hondata aren't bad at all very safe for the car

NO Wonder Your car is slow on 0 to 60 with only 91 Octane Fuel. We've had 95 and 98 Octane Fuel in Australia for over 20 Years already. In Japan they have close to 100 Octane Fuel over there. 91 Octane is only recommended for Old Cars here, while 95 is recommended for Newer Cars. Best is 98 Octane for more Luxury cars if You can afford it.

Its not bad enough that the Type-R is not only considered the riciest car in the "enthusiast car" world, but their exhaust has to be the riciest looking exhaust that has ever been made since the beginning of cars!! I mean what is that thing?????
A riciest car with 90% of the aero kit actually works. BTW, 86 GRMN and S660 are using the same style exhaust.
