I have the Nest Hub Max. I use it everyday for weather, news, music, making calls, video chats, playing voice activated games, searching Google for info about misc things. It sits on my wooden bar-stool with the speakers close to the wall so I can get great acoustics. 😉 I'm really surprised at how well the speakers sound...the bass is very full and rich. 😊 I like how the camera follows you around during video call. The video itself is very clear. On regular voice calls, I can hear the other phone very well and vice-versa. The fact that I don't have to use my cell phone all the time to make calls while at home is quite nice...I just speak to the hub and say whoever it is that I wan't to talk to and it's done, hand free. 😎 Also, I use the hub to control my flatscreen tv...I command it to turn it on or off, raise or lower the volume, change channels...It's so cool being able to do that. 🤗 There are very little things to that I have issues with, like that it is unresponsive at times...I have to raise my voice or repeat what I've said...However...The overall experience I've with this neat lil device has been really great. 👍🏾👍🏾
Great review. I'm debating about getting one for video calls like zoom and watching videos, not right at the moment but sooner or later, I think would make my life a bit easier.
Amazing is bleeding Alexa users now with their forced “sponsored” ads. We pay $250 for a device that we can’t control the content that’s displayed on the screen. This is why I’m watching this video to see if Google is going to be a viable option to my smart home I’ve been developing for about 4 years now. My question is this, when you are watching your photo slideshow are you going to be interrupted with ads or anything other than your pictures? Obviously a security camera popping onto the screen or predetermined alerts would be acceptable.
Great review! I’ve been looking at replacing my 1st gen echo dot we have in the kitchen. Your review definitely Helps. We’ll get one eventually, maybe the price will drop.
I have the Hub which is in my kitchen and am considering the Max for the bigger display (I plan on rehoming the original hub to my bathroom where I listen to podcasts or play UA-cams while I get ready for work). I will like having the hand gesture feature and the ability to call into it. Someone is usually in the kitchen but not always answering the phone even when wearing an Apple watch
Just bought the Max after watching your excellent video. Like it. Really like using the intercom features. A few questions: 1. Can it bookmark a webpage and display that bookmarked webpage on request? If so, how? 2. Also, is there a Google Home app web interface? 3. Is there a work-around, without subscription, to have it phone 911 emergency calls, e.g. via a Google Voice number, or other methods? 4. Will these be getting updated to the "Matter" standard and "Thread"? Same question for the Nest Mini, etc. Thanks
Good review Paul I have 4 Gen 2 hubs in my small home and was curious about the max im still on the fence regarding a purchase tho, only duo or zoom for video and not a great choice for music service I’m in the apple ecosystem but find Google does so much more when it comes to voice assistance than good old plain Jane Siri, one thing I should mention is using a sharp knife while watching a screen is probably sending the wrong message all the best and thank you for the video
I've been looking into the max hub for the Google duo feature to act as a way for the kids/babysitter to reach us since we don't have a landline and kids really don't need call phones. If love to hear more about how this would work.
Nest Hub Max *DOES* have Google Duo. Which you can make calls on. Even group calls. It can even use Zoom. The camera even follow you around on your call, while you walk around the house. It's cool AF
I'm hoping they'll make a nest hub Max too soon short the next hub Max does go louder than the regular nest hub but the overall sound quality does not sound very good.
I wish Samsung releases similar device like this. After Google photos free storage being off limit max people uses Samsung devices want to view their photos view devices like this
You get this as an integration for home security and other smart home tools in the same ecosystem. This is designed for people with nest cameras and other items. This is not a replacement for tablets...
It's 199usd here and perfect for my 70yr old parent for playing songs, video calls, turning on tv and playing youtube on tv, medication reminder and time during night and photos of us that i will store in google photos so she's updated and happy to see our moment anytime esp i live in different area and visits her onpy 1x per month. She's not techie to use ipad. She needs tgis and intellifence of google assistant
Yeah! I can then buy a USBC 3.5 adapter, Connect it a good sounding speaker and turn it into a smart display either with Siri, Alexa or Google Assistant all together, although Google Assistant on iOS and iPadOS doesn’t work errors free and gets unresponsive quite often

Awesome! It’s definitely a solid all around smart display.

Can you add more than one brand of 3rd party camera? I’ve got arlo ultra with hub but want some other brand cameras too

No, there aren't any ads popping up while you're watching your photos scroll by on the Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max. That would be super annoying!
@@TechnologyPaul Thanks for letting me know and yes it is annoying to say the least.
This was a great video. I'm shocked you don't have way more subscribers and views. Keep up the great content and they'll all be here soon!
Thanks so much for the kind words!

Do the doorbell functions work with any camera doorbell, or do you need a Google specific doorbell
You would need to check if it is compatible with Google Home.
I am thinking about buying the hub max

For my room
How bout UA-cam tv from the nest?
I have UA-cam but not YT TV! I’m sure it’s easy enough to do though
How do u make video calls to the max
DUO app is one way.
Good
👍👍
I am watching this on a Nest hub
Nice.
For 299 you can literally get an iPad and buy a little stand for it. It also won’t track you or do any suspicious activities….
You get this as an integration for home security and other smart home tools in the same ecosystem.

The max is too slow , the response is too slow
Agreed, the touch response could be faster.
