nobody is saying this for some reason... the interface on the nest hub is much better suited for a smart home display and i assumed that the pixel tablet would simply switch to this interface when docked, but this is not the case at all
What about speaking to the google assistant? I think it is terrible on the Pixel tablet. Most of the time it asks you to unlock the device and only then performs an action you requested. I had to turn off the assistant and switch back to Nest audio.
It should just do what the Nest Hub Max can do and more. But it can't.... The Pixel Tablet should have its camera work as a security cam, facial recognition that gives personalised info, gesture controls, and an adaptive screen based on its environment. The speaker should also be on par with the Nest Hub Max. I'd buy it if this was the case, but it unfortunately just isn't.
Hey, great review! You probably have no clue who I am but I was at your talk for the NSLC business camp and I really appreciated the advice you gave. Your content seems great, and I'm happy you came to talk to us. Thanks Josh!
The biggest thing will be the pricing. I remember seeing the Max for $99 during black friday. I went with the cheaper one because I didn't think I needed the webcam and it is literally a photo stresmer I got for $49.99. If the tablet was OLED then maybe, but if the tabket actually shows you who is at your front door when the nest goes off unlike the nest hub; then sold on that feature alone.
@@6MonthsLater 8:56 as an iPad user (or a tablet user) some apps like threads , instagram or other apps they don’t support bigger screen size ( made for mobile size let’s say) ( I am not a an expert or something I am just saying) , I love your blog is nice and wish you the best 🤍
It's such an easy task. I just setup an old honeycomb tablet as a photo frame. I loaded up an sdcard with 280 photos, and that was all that I needed to do. I also just did the same thing with an iPad 2. That was an awful experience, but I digress. If the photo frame function is your main goal, you don't need any new tech. You could probably buy a Fire Tab on the cheap if you do need something new for this function.
I agree, aa I repurposed an old Galaxy Tab as a Home Assistant control panel, but could probably also have it run a photo frame screensaver as it does have a memory card slot.
Quick question, I don’t own an android and don’t need the pictures features, I want to use the hub for my cameras/ music - so should I get the pixel or the hub max ??
Pixel tablet is a compelling tablet for me but europe has a very different price here. Currently Google has the tablet for 399 in the US. Here in Switzerland it's 619chf which is insane
Probably wait for the next iteration of the tablet. Hopefully it'll have the latest Tensors chip, 120hz screen as well allow for the dock speaker to operate or cast to independently of the tablet.
@@_brugman It will. This device was designed for someone who uses google home and/or is looking for a home hub AND likely in the market for a tablet. In my case, I hardly use my tablet. In fact I'm giving it to my son. But I realize I use it once in awhile, and since I'm in the market for another home display, this would be perfect.
Nest Hub Max is much better. Don't change to pixel tablet. I.e. Security Camera as Nest does not work as on Hub, automations like play radio at specific time does not work....
I'm sorry I've owned the max for just less than a week and it fucking sucks!!! Why the hell would they even sell this for $400? I bought it for $160 and it's still fucking sucks... You can't change the apps. You can't move the apps. You can't adjust the apps. It's sucks. They should have gave me this for free and it would still suck...
This. I sold my Lenovo Google smart displays cos Google shafted them in terms of support. Google has a habit of shafting hardware and software, so I'm never buying anything google again!

True.
Is the issue still their?? You telling me that you need to unlock the tablet before it accually doing anything?
What if you will not set a passcode to the tablet? Will it still be the same? Im really interested in this tablet

@@6MonthsLaterwait. The hub max doesn't show the nest doorbell camera?

I've been wanting to see this type of video since the tablet came out. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
One disadvantage of pixel tablet is u can't set the default speaker for media playback
waiting for this device's review from you :)
Gesture controls are a life-saver on Nest Hub Max.
What a about personal infos? How does Pixel Tablet deal with?
Awesome review. Just the one I was looking for.
Glad you liked it!
Hello. Great and informative video. Which one works better with Sonos and Vivint Home Security??
Quick question, I don’t own an android and don’t need the pictures features, I want to use the hub for my cameras/ music - so should I get the pixel or the hub max ??
Hub Max has well known defect where it doesn't display all photos in your album and there is no fix for this as of yet.
..thanks for making this video. Max Hub here, using it for Photos..
You’re welcome!
Can the tablet be charged on the dock in portrait orientation?
Nope, Only in landscape

Whoops, thanks for pointing out we need to correct that.
