The biggest problem I’ve noticed among people that have faux or real locs I’ve met (myself included though just for the record my locs aren’t faux but my actual hair. Not bragging I swear😑😑) is that sometimes instead of asking first people just reach out and grab/pull your locs and then have the nerve to look insulted, shocked and disrespected when you tell them off even politely for being hands on, touchy and rude. Out of all the things I experience due to my locs people touching them is the worst and most anxiety inducing for me because let’s be honest a LOT of people don’t always wash their hands when they should and with Covid now being a thing I worry their germ riddled hands and fingers will contaminate my locs that I’ve grown for almost 9 years now. Honestly I seriously don’t get why some people do that. Like do they really think it’s okay to do that? Ughhhhhh theres a LOT of downside to locs in social situations😑😑
@@zhaviyah84 that’s very true. I have 12 tattoos now and it changes how people view and perceive you. All of my tattoos are related to my Navajo heritage in some way so they have meanings and aren’t just random images I looked up online rather I designed all my tattoos myself though I obviously went to a tattoo artist to have them put the designs on my skin. Even if the tattoos have actual meaning behind them people always think negatively of the person who has the tattoos. It’s 2023 so I don’t know what’s wrong with people. If I may ask what did you mean specifically when you said the same with tattoos? Did you mean people come up to you and just touch your tattoos? If that’s what you meant then I’ve never come across someone who did that to me but it just sounds disgusting and wrong that someone would think that it’s okay to touch other people that they don’t know for any reason. I truly HATE being touched even by my own family members and close friends so the thought of someone I don’t know coming up to me and touching my skin in general without my permission is anxiety inducing to say the least. I swear some people are friggin weirdos and perverts🤬☹️
This made me laugh! Even though our perspectives differ...I have put in my first set of dreadlock extensions, thank you for the love and effort you put into your channel ❤ you have beautuful heart...I am on my way to become a Minister with dreadlocks 😂😂
The can I touch them question is actually one of my favorite responses because AT LEAST THEY ASKED instead of just grabbing them! Because then I can say no if I want to and explain why so they learn something.
I am wanting to get dread extensions, what does the maintenance look like? With my natural hair, I don't have to brush it ever (it doesn't tangle, I run my fingers through during weekly condition to get all the shed out), and I wash it once a week. Am I getting myself into a situation that requires a lot more upkeep?
It’s basically the same with dreadlock extensions. The ”daily” upkeep is the same: running your fingers through or occationally separating the dreads just so they don’t tangle or stick together and washing them once a week (not more often because that can damage them). On top of that there’s some maintanance you probably have to do every few months or so, like tightening the roots with a crochet hook or reattaching and stuff like that. You can do that yourself for free or you can go to a professional for that if you want because it can be a bit rough for the arms to work on your own dreads because you have to hold them up and it usually takes a lot of time. So maintanence wise it’s pretty similar than what you’re doing right now but it’ll still take a lot of getting used to. I hope this helps and you have a wonderful time on your dread-journey if you decide to get them❤
No shade, but I am delinquent AF with my locks (I mean in all ways other than hygiene) and I would argue they still look good. 10 years in and I’m hanging out for my Jeep phase 🤞
There's NO WAY IM H3LL I'd buy another Jeep lol Here in Australia no mechanic likes Jeeps. Rare parts, VERY EXPENSIVE to run and fix! Alot to fix and maintain although I loved it, it cost me 15000 extra and still couldn't fix it. No mechanic would touch it. It was in mint condition to look at but mechanically stuffed. We sold it for 800. Yep no one would buy it for over a 800. We bought it for 13000, we were ripped.
Yeah. My first set was way too thick and I didn't let them dry properly. Smelled like wet dog when wet. Gross. You could see the mold funk when I brushed them out...🤮
@@ReikiontheRunwhy? You knew that and you continue doing the same? Is really the only important thing is if they get wet, squeeze and twist like the kitchen clot, until all the water is out or at least in the terminations of the dreads! also rotate all of them like a helicopter to create centriptic effect and of course after don’t put any band, let them be “free” to dry better… once a week 😅never… wash when is dirt!Every week easy to get dandruff because of the humidity! Mold? Never, bad smell?? Never Ohm nama Shivaia
I think they are a lower “daily” maintenance style, even if they have some upkeep. It’s more like taking care of a pet than personal grooming 😂😂.
I love this video so much!!! They definitely become a lifestyle, and are just so fun! Okay I'm running out to buy a Jeep now! 😅
Not me getting faux dreads in before going to a music festival in the UK this summer 😎

Same with tattoos

I came here to say the same thing. Now I know how my dog feels. I can’t believe the people who reach out to pet my dreads. Like WHAT!
I have a Subaru outback. That totally counts.
Same😂

Love your videos, thank you. My lifestyle is begging me to get them and this video confirmed it... minus the jeep though 😂

I don't have a jeep, but 4wd cargo van
If someone wants to donate me a jeep id be all set 😂
So I just bought my very first set of DE curl dreads and I’m having a hard time installing them , any tips or advice ?
She and many others have videos on how to install SE and DE dreads to one's head😄
@@Izumiorra thank you 💖 with trial and error I got them installed
Have you installed them multiple times by now or was it just a one time thing? Any tips/tricks for a beginner?
I smoke weed, attend festivals and drive a jeep already. I think its time for a few dreads
Does anyone know someone in Oklahoma that can dread my hair like hers. I can’t find anyone
I drove a 81 vox rabbit first! Ha
There's NO WAY IM H3LL I'd buy another Jeep lol

I thought they'd also ask Are you vegan/veggie? This is also stereotypical I think?????
They stink if they get moldy! I've unfortunately smelled it!
