I don't normally comment on content like this, but I wanted to this time to show my appreciation for your videos! I've been playing pyro for YEARS and I've always wanted to find a content creator who made videos focused on the class. Your videos are exactly what I was looking for. Everything you cover is so comprehensive that it's genuinely helped improve my gameplay in ways it never did before. Keep up the good work, love to see it every time you upload!
Thanks so much mate, love to hear comments like this as it really inspires me to keep making more tutorial/guide-style content! Planning on doing a sniper guide eventually, which will give newer players a clear way to get from bad sniper --> decent sniper --> good sniper, and of course more Pyro videos and different tips and tricks! Definitely going to check out your content too as those kind of documentary-style videos on games are some of my favourites 👍👍
Woah, Pastra, you main Pyro??? Nice, I knew you loved Deltarune but I didn’t know you loved my other favorite video game! …do you like Pokemon perchance…?
One thing I found out about the thermal thruster. If you airblast at the ground while the same time you land near someone you can send an enemy flying extremely high, depending on how high you've fallen, and the angle you're falling at.
I will admit that the dragon's fury also helps play into this playstyle do to the dragon's working well on its one do to its burst damage and range. (edit: would recommend watching Lister's video on the thermal thruster if you want info on how that flank pyro works)
I really appreciate you quantifying how I play Pyro the most. Like, as a pyro main myself, I just never understood how people could always undervalue is offensive capabilities in chaotic pubs. Just a few minutes in, and you've basically pinpointed thr exact way I've been playing him for years and years at this point. I switch between a flank and a muscle pyro almost constantly every game. Quality content!
flank pyro is my absolute favourite way to play pyro. there's no dopamine rush quite like when you're able to pull off a successful ambush on some poor soul who never even knew you were coming! while the thruster is slow and clunky, once you get used to the switching speed it's massively underrated for the sheer ground you can cover, flying above everyone else and bombing the enemy medic. you're essentially roleplaying a cruise missile filled with napalm and I love it lmao
This video opened me up to flank pyro as a whole and, my god, have I really realised how underrated the back burner is. Flank pyro might just be my new favourite way to play the class and I have you to thank for that. So thanks dude, keep making fantastic content!
Hope you enjoy! I'll be streaming my Seasonalander POV here on UA-cam on 28th/29th January with some cool Pyro gameplay - also check out the official charity stream at twitch.tv/seasonalander 👍👍 I experimented with HLAE for the first time, amazing program and let me know if you like the freecam footage style. Also experimented with linking audio + text appearing, Photoshop graphics, and cool transitions - planning on improving my editing even more but for now, focusing on my work + on some other skills that I want to improve outside of editing. Cheers 👍
I’m glad there’s someone out there representing us pyro mains, it’s also nice to have a little weight lifted off our shoulders now that snipers the most hated class lol
I used to think pyro was rly boring but after watching some of your videos i cant stop playing him. Great content man would love to see you cover more topics besides tf2
I think I might've played a game with you because I remember your sick loadout! Also, great video, but I would've like to see some of the longer term routing options that came before some of the frags.
Glad you are back mate. I enjoy your guide videos. When first Tf2, Pyro caught my eye and I played him first. The plays you make are very advanced and I would know as I have thousands of hours in Tf2. Never could pull off a flame into extinguisher combo on a pyro. You seem to do it consistently. Also did you really need to taunt after kill, the disrespect mate! You already killed them in style XD. For instance, the reflect rocket jump into extingusiher on that soldier on upward! I play all the classes and put in decent amount of time in each. Guess I haven't quite put in enough hours into pyro to do that. Mate, you made me re-look at the dragon's fury and thermal thruster and gave them a shot and they are actually not bad weapons at all, they are fun and viable too! I guess sometimes because some weapons in the game are objectively superior for instance the Diamondback. That there isn't much incentive to use other less powerful weapons other than to keep things interesting. Keep it mate, you are doing great!
Almost 6,500 kills on my Backburner so far and in my experience, the Panic Attack is BY FAR the best secondary for it. Yeah, you are a bit range limited with that loadout but you're very deadly within that range if you're clever and are playing on the right maps. The rapid deploy and wide fixed pattern make it super easy to finish off those people who suddenly turn around before the crits finish them off. Very close range is where it's easiest to miss uncooperative players who don't want to die and move around evasively to get away. If the map is a bit more open, the Reserve Shooter makes an acceptable substitute. Finally, never underestimate the value of looping taunts (high five, mannrobics, etc). Know where good ambush spots are and wait patiently in 3rd person for your victims to show up.
Another thing I'll add is that when it comes to using the Backburner, it pays to have some experience playing spy. If you do, you'll get a good sense about how to stay out of people's view, how to be patient, hug walls, etc.
Good video: some tips with the thermal thruster if anyone care: - Don't be greedy: this might be obvious, but you don't have to jump in and M1 people until you die. Ideally you wanna play kinda like a roamer soldier, jump in, get frags, jump out as soon as you're in danger. - Because of this it's generally better to jump in with your thermal thruster fully loaded, so you still have a charge left to escape. - the increased push back can be useful to escape, so when you're trying to run away from ennemies, jumping will most likely help you if they're shooting at you. You might surf rockets and bullets and reach a safe location faster. this is true for every class but it's especially relevent for a roaming jetpack pyro. - with your jetpack, the time between the moment you press m1 and the moment you start flying is quite long But you can use this time to confuse the ennemies, by acting like you're going to jump in one direction, then quickly turning over when the backpack lauches you. so when you're bombing someone, it might be better to not look at him directly until you're about to be lauched. Same with escaping, as it might makes it harder for your opponent to predict your movement.
great video, but i cant believe the backscratcher wasnt mentioned in a vid dedicated to flank pyro. its like the perfect unlock for the playstytle (in most circumstances)
The back scratcher is also a really great choice because you'll pretty much never have a friendly medic near by and the bonus from small and medium health kits can be game changing
Never knew my playstyle had a name, I just randomly thought one day, "Hey, the thermal thruster combined with the backburner would be pretty fun to play", and I was absolutely correct.
Im new to the game and this is very interesting (not able to buy any weapons to help with this but im still definetly gonna try to put this into action)
Flank pyro is what I normally play if not combo but I have a huge problem with sentries because it’s hard to get close enough to deal damage when they insta kill you so is there any tips on dealing with them or even a video about it?
Pirateer, I am curious what ingame, windows sens and dpi you use? Also, do switch from one sens to another depending on class, weapon or play style etc? Thank you;)
I'm probably not gonna try playing TF2 anytime soon cuz im plain bad at pvp as I suck fundamental skills like awareness and the bots really hamper the game sadly. However, I love watching skilled TF2 gameplay, especially skilled Pyro gameplay. Mobile Pyro strats are my fav, especially using the detonator.
I know all the other pyro playstyles like offensive, combo, and now flank because of your videos, but what loadout should I use for a defensive playstyle?
If you're a sniper or scout main and want to be promoted from benign tumor of society to malignant tumor, then go dragons fury. Shit melts gamers faster than high calorie humans rolling down declining terrain.
The "Positive" voice line is especially adorable. "Umm duu da" is kinda what it sounds like. No idea what Pyro actually says there but the way he says it is just...☺️ Always makes me smile!
It is an absolute crime that you haven't even mentioned the Dragon's Fury. It it Pyro's definitive DPS flamethrower. The backburner is nice when players are looking away from you, but you are discovered, you're as vulnerable as a pyro with a stock flamethrower. The Dragon's Fury fixes that with its immense burst and sustained damage over burning players; with its higher fire rate and damage on burning players. Not to mention the fact that it has superior range to any other flamethrower. And to top it all off, its the best flamethrower for dealing with nests, just because it keeps its airblast (though obviously it is much slower than all of the other flamethrowers), and the fireballs it shoots, penetrates both players and buildings. It clears out large groups of enemy players faster than any other flamethrower as well as being a great primary for pyro v pyro situations. Its only real downside is that its airblast is slow to recharge, and that it requires you to aim (also it is the most difficult to spycheck with it). THIS THING IS HELLA GOOD.

You make serioiusly the best guides for pyro man. I started playing with the dragon's fury and fell in love with pyro and your vids have been amazing.
This is exactly what I needed when returning to TF2
If you haven't already. Try out the dragon's fury. Crazy fun and melts teams, and it works really good with this play style as well

Thank you for being the best pyro focused youtuber there is! Much appreciation from a fellow pyro main ❤🔥❤🔥
My flank pyro loadout is Dragons Fury+Detenator (Sometimes Manmelter if enemy team has a scorch shit pyro) and back scratcher.
Love your vids dude, just started playing tf2 and thought pyro looked cool and your vids have got me hooked.

With this play style I like phlog, thermal thruster, and back scratcher so I can W+m1 and get some extra guaranteed crits and bigger health packs
Welcome back Mr pirate pyro man

At 7:21 you can see Pirateer’s brain turn on the moment that soldier got put on fire by a pyro and swap to the axe lol
Thank you! The thermal thruster is so fun and I have been trying to find a way to make it effective
great video, we need more advanced pyro content youtubers
I personally find flank pyro with the backscratcher very effective do to how you will often be alone on the flank
great video, but i cant believe the backscratcher wasnt mentioned in a vid dedicated to flank pyro. its like the perfect unlock for the playstytle (in most circumstances)
miss your content , made me a decent pyro after your tips and guides for pyro i still need some practise but yeah thanks for all of that

what is your opinion on the dragon’s fury: in general and for flanking
