Fun fact: the “sugar tax” on sweetened beverages pays for food assistance for low income families in Seattle. It’s called Fresh Bucks and the coupons that are sent out can only be used for fruits and vegetables at local farmers markets or at Safeway ☺️
@@aiden4886 it wouldn’t be that much. The tax rate is 1.75 cents per fluid ounce of sweetened beverage. Stores and restaurants can pay the tax or pass it on to consumers. On average about 1.7 cents out of the 1.75 is passed on to consumers. A 16 oz coke would cost an extra 27.2 cents. $2.26 is a far cry from $4. I understand why people might be annoyed by the extra charge, but I also think it makes sense to charge more for unhealthy food/drinks and make healthy food more affordable. Cost/access are the main reasons people might turn away from healthy options in favor of something sugary and I think we need to do everything we can to reverse the high obesity rates in the U.S.

Damn, I really missed out when I went to Seattle! But maybe I’ll pass on that corridor of gum next time I visit.
No, believe me you do not want to go there. It’s crowded and smelly and disgusting. Especially with COVID pleaseeeee please do not put gum on the wall, as COVID could spread through the air.
I actually felt nauseated during this part of the vlog. Still liked the episode, though.
It smells so bad. I couldn’t walk down it.
I lived in Seattle before they power washed that alley, and it definitely did NOT smell, even in the summer.
Guess “cleaning” it did more harm than good...
Seriously, that's gross. Why lol
Nobody
Kara: Dangit, still no charge from Amazon
I’m pretty sure If Kara didn’t get charged by bedtime, she would lose sleep with a guilty conscience throughout the night 😂
I was waiting patiently too! So your "nobody" trioe didn't work this time. Sorry!
Thanks for being so consistent in posting!!
Definitely one of my favorite videos from you two. We live two hours north of Seattle in Blaine, so seeing you two exploring just south of our area was really special.
This is one of your best videos. I don't know why exactly, but I loved the city tour. Thanks Kara and Nate, from Sydney, AU :-)
TOMORROWS MY LAST NATIONAL EXAMS YAY, BTW, LOVE YOU TWO. YOUR CONTENT IS SOMETHING I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO, within the exam period, it gets all stressful and annoying at some parts, but, tbh, looking forward to your videos is very rewarding sort because of how beautiful your content is. thnks for doing this, love you two. and sry Kara, imma a tea fan
Tomorrow is my third national exam (in South Africa) so I know the struggles but I totally agree Kara and Nate are my favorite people to watch as a "study break" :)))
@@erinjean7448 ikr, good luckz btw
My exams got cancelled so I got my general certificate in secondary education without them (gcses) now I’m learning alevels for exams by 2022 which hopefully won’t get cancelled
OMG noone cares!
@@VL1975 then dun reply lmao, theres 7 billion ppl in this world, its ok to not care.
Kara's enthusiasm for Starbucks is almost enough to make me forget how bitter and burned tasting their over-roasted coffee tastes to me...almost. 😁😁😁
Believe it or not, the only good Starbucks I've ever had was in Seattle lol.
I guess that is not hugely surprising...I could see the original store doing things that franchises and other stores don't do...or vice versa.
It’s almost sad that the Pike Place market Starbucks isn’t actually the first Starbucks location. They just say it is to get all the tourists to shop there. 😂
People go to Starbucks for the comfortable atmosphere and free WiFi. Many places have much better coffee.
Lol yeah I'm from the northeast, we're all about Dunkin Donuts here. We hate Starbucks lol
Yes! Loved this! So much to do in one day, exactly how I show my friends around the city. So crazy to see some clips were filmed right in front of my apartment 😂 like Nate’s opening talking scene. Im still so shook that I ran into you guys at Pike Place on Halloween, I was walking all over downtown trying to find pants for my Halloween costume and last second instead of going home, I decided to go back to target and walk through the market only to run into you. And like the bloopers it did feel like running into my favorite celebrities hahah. Y’all are the absolute best, this makes me so happy to see you enjoy my city 😊
Kara and Nate’s Channel is one of the greatest YT discovery I had. I love all their trips. Really interesting and fun.
Anyone else get momentarily distracted by Jerome's YSL bag?!? *need*
omg hahahahha!! She's my baby! ❤️🤣
Seatle is such a cool city! LOVE that you guys visited a place that serves something so near and dear to both you and the channel- COFFEE ♡ the Italian bakery and cold brew cocktail bar definitely makes it the willy Wonka of coffee. Mac n cheese, pizza...so much yum! Such a fun day exploring !
That sugar sur charge is CRAZY !
@@OurNationalAdventure they tax this sh!t out of everything here. Don't forget the plastic straw ban and other plastic items. Gas is like always floating around 3.00 a gallon and they are adding more and more toll lanes around the area. I live here and love the nature the most so I live way outside the city. Cheers
Who else is bingeing their videos?? Love love love them.
We do, every week :)
Jerome showed you around Vancouver too, right? He's so lovely.
they should have used a vancouverite...would have seen a lot more that the over priced richmond night market...chinatown, gastown, false creek and so-on...at least they rode around stanley park
After living in my home town of Seattle I love to see you guys having fun here hope you guys come back keep traveling 🧳👍🏼❤️
My home state, my home city, my favorites meeting up with an internet friend... I’m 3000 miles away and this video is just too sweet right now❤️❤️❤️
I've never seen someone so disappointed for not receiving a bill! haha
I just moved from Germany to Seattle and I am so in love with this City! I was hoping the whole time, since you started your Roadtrip, that you're visiting Washington!
Enjoy Seattle, looks like a great place to live in :) Greetings from Dubai :)
I also a have strange wish to move back to Canada (or the US) again. Also from Germany. Spent a year in Canada, now stuck in Germany.
Loved Seattle last year when we went. Some of the best food we've ever had.
Nice to see you guys again like this. Walking around a new city with friends (I miss Charlie a lot he is so hilarious), going to starbucks and tasting eastern food that makes Kara feel so happy.
It’s a special treat seeing Jerome in the videos. I just love him! 😊
He’s a gem 💛
I'm also from the Philippines and I'm happy that Jerome brought you to a Filipino restaurant 😊🇵🇭 Hope you enjoy our food.
That's amazing but point of correction, he said the dishes have been elevated to morden. It's not so cause ethnic cuisines are complete 👌💯 and don't need to be elavated, so the word is changed to accommodate other pallets.
Dear K&N, it's great and fun to see you out and about in a big city again. But please remember we're still in a pandemic, you did so well up until now but this last video is really scary to watch. Meeting up with a friend in close quarters whom isn't a part of your household and going to various indoor venues just isn't safe. Please take care and keep healthy!
Such stupidity!!!
me living in the Philippines and watching all these new tech amazes me so much! hahaha
and also being so proud about the Filipino food being introduced to you both. ❤️🇵🇭
Ang sarap!! ❤️🇵🇭
😊🇵🇭
I love Jerome's vibe!! total ray of sunshine in the seattle rain!
So true ☀️🥰
With all thats going on in our world today you guys are just a pleasure to watch ,have fun
Jerome seems like such a great friend 🤍
My aunt and uncle actually knew the people who created Amazon while they were in college and originally they were going to open up a bookstore in Seattle but it turned out to be Amazon
what
Your aunt and uncle know Jeff Bezos?
It won’t surprise someone in Seattle will tell you that Jeff was their neighbor
Things that never happened.
I went to the same elementary as Jeff bezos
Always wanted to take my travels to America! ❤️ A BBQ food tour is ok the cards for 2021 😋 great video guys!
P.s I'm a British UA-camr 😊
@kevin weaver would love to! Any places you would recommend? 😋
We have TONS of great cities for BBQ! And they're all slightly different
@@TheAwkwardTourists sounds mouthwatering! The most exciting thing about visiting America is the thought of the food you guys have 😋
As a fellow Filipina....we enjoy the pleasure of others savoring the food and drinks we introduce or cook. I’ve lived in America for 50 years and I still have that trait.!
We live in the UK but have a condo on Bainbridge Island, we love Seattle, in the winter and summer for many reasons, as we have been renting out our condo for a few years we have not been back for that time, it was so heart warming to watch you visit a place that we both love so much, thankyou !!
The “sugar tax” is also a thing in Boulder, CO!
Our first legal weed and sugar tax cousins 🙌
I knew it jerome is a Filipino!I haven't watched his vlog. But when I saw him on kara and nates vlog I have a thought his a Filipino. IloveJeromeeee
“You actually have to talk to somebody ugh” my introverted self laughed way to hard at that
Thank you for all of the smiles! Watching ur guys’ videos is a great way to start the morning :)
Hearing Karas raw laugh really is contagious, I need more of that 🤣❤️
Fun fact: my architecture teacher designed the Starbucks coffee reserve Shanghai roof
Sure ???
Yea lol
I think he did Tokyo too
Seattle is on my bucket list because Grey’s Anatomy is filmed there😂
I wish they visited the house they use for Meredith.
Omg same! The season 17 premiere had me SHOOKETH
@@ameliegrace2456 I’m rewatching it cause I started watching greys at like season 14 or 15 and now I’m on 9 and me and my mom are waiting until we record all of the episodes so hopefully I don’t see any spoilers 😂
@@jennalgreer just stay off greys anatomy ig, that’s all I can say lol
Hugging Jerome during a pandemic. Incredible.
Loved Jerome! Best tour guide for a city yet. Thanks for sharing him with us!
I love Jerome's vibe and Seattle is lovely and so interesting, I'd love to visit someday. This video is a nice change of pace for you guys 😊
Phillipino food looked amazing!
Seattle has just entered the fast track for my domestic travel list whilst we can't leave the US.
Anyone else think they should go on the show Amazing Race!!
Like if you think👇🏻
He’s Filipino, I believe! I love this! I’m from the Philippines and I love videos like this. Just people introducing our culture! Especially the food 🤤❤️❤️❤️
It’s so fun to see you guys explore one of my favorite cities 😍
