Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to go travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling, and we didn’t want to stop after just one year! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries and then all 7 continents (check out our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY , we had no plans to slow down, until 2020 decided to force us to ;) which is when we bought a converted Sprinter van to start exploring our own country for the first time. #Vanlife was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎
the clips with Nate with his grandfather fixing up the van are so precious and wholesome :)
right🥺
Cherish those memories..I missed my grandma she died in 1998
Wasn't it just great, Nan and Gramps are such a super couple, can't wait to be able to hug my family
So sweet.
the fact his grandad was so disappointed in his survival skills reminds me of my relationship with my adopted grandad (I’ve just turned 22 and he is 85) and our lives are so different - he was in the British Royal Air Force and I just love his stories so so much! he worked in Cyprus and they gave him things like pickled sparrows to eat and I just can’t imagine anyone my age being willing to eat that tbh although for survival, I would do it!
I just saw a great American. A man who obviously loves his family. Who has a garage packed with tools. Has a classic car in that garage. Can work on his own car and his grandson's van. A man who's 87 years old and can still do a full days work. He can do maths in his head. A lifelong educator. Brave enought to get vaccinated to protect his family, friends and neighbors. A man's man. Pop, you are awesome.
“brave enough to get vaccinated”?
Non-Americans cannot work on cars, and don’t have tools?
@@martinc.720 simply admiration for an independent 87-year old. If they were in Canada I'd call him a great Canadian. If it were Liberia, I call him a great Liberian. Brazil? He'd be a great Brazilian. You might be overthinking this. And BTW, going on UA-cam to argue with strangers cancels your chance of anyone ever thinking you're great.
@@markbauer827 I am not overthinking nor arguing. I asked questions! That is far from arguing or overthinking, not sure where you got that. Just wanted clarification, which you provided. Not sure why anyone has to be upset with that.
@@markbauer827 Why would anyone care whether people on social media think they are "great"? That doesn't make any sense.
How you gonna bring the vaccine into this hahahahahaha delusional liberal
Your Grandpa's prideful smile while looking at you and saying "we accomplished a lot" was PURE GOLD. Sometimes the internet makes me feel empty, this video made me feel whole.
Nate's grandfather roasting him is the funniest thing I've seen all day!
Can we talk about what great shape Nates Grandpa is in at 87 to be able to work with him and have these memories together!! How lucky and special! My Grandpa passed away at 86 when I was only 18... But I was able to spend two weeks every summer with my grandparents growing up
Yeah, you're talking about it in this comment.
I was surprised to see him so capable when Nate introduced him as 87. What an impressive health span. I hope I make healthy choices to be so vigorous into my late 80s.
Ok your grandparents gave all the feels. Loved that!
im a father a grandad ,great grandad, and widower
Hi
Same, it reminds me about my papa and I’d relationship
Raise your hand if you want to see Nate's grandparents more often in the Vlog!!???🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️ That was precious, and so cool you will have those memories committed to video to remember. Oh and those nieces are adorable😍😍
🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️
🙋♀️
Best part of the video hands-down for me is you working on the van with your grandpa.
I’m extremely envious of you brother.
He’s a gem for sure 💙
Feeling of jealously and envy from Singapore too
He was so happy to work on that van with you. You absolutely made the right call.
When the grandpa corrected the math omgosh this is the most wholesome thing I have ever seen in my life
We need more footage with your grandparents because they are national treasures
Please take a still shot of 9:14 of Nate with his grandpa, print it, and frame it. And then frame another one for your grandpa. What a treasure. You are so lucky to have him, Nate. And that shop of his tells a million tales, just in a glance.
Or at 14:25 when they smile and high five each other. So precious.
It’s such a blessing to have grandparents in good health 😊
The fact that Nates family works together as quality time says a lot about his character and speaks volumes to how they have been so successful!
Totally agree
I love parent and grandparent terminology "We been watching them UA-cams" 🤣
Someone needs to explain to her, for her peace of mind, if the video is uploaded then nothing bad happened.
@@jkhoover great point!
So cute and exactly what our grandparents say 🤣🤣
@@lostamonglocals5382 same! Everytime it's"we've been watching your UA-cams TV show" 🤣
Nate with his Grandfather was the sweetest most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a long time. I couldn’t help but smile.
I don't give thumbs up often but today grandpa totally deserved one. I laughed several times. That man is awesome! Please make sure to share more of him with us. ❤️❤️❤️
Nates grandparents are epic. It was a pleasure to see granddads smarts and how cool it is to see someone who doesnt work for a garage but can do all the stuf a mechanic can do. grandma was such a sweet person. Awesome people.
Nate....I grew up knowing your parents and grandparents.....some of the kindest people in the world!
Talk about a life of consistency.....you have a very rich heritage!
I remember many hours spent at your grandparents home....loved seeing they are still so active and in
the same house.....made my day!! Happy trails to you and Kara!
I love how the Buccee's costume now just makes random appearances
I think it will become epic!
Us too. Makes us laugh every time!
Please spend as much time as you can with your grandparents. They have incredible wisdom and you don't know how blessed you are to have them, until they are gone.
This!!
Absolutely agree! You don't realise how great they are till they aren't around any more
Nate, I was in tears watching your grandpa helping you with the van. Then your grandma helping with the wash of the van was priceless. Your sooo lucky to still have them. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure...
He’s not just your grandpa now, he’s all of our grandpa now. Why is so adorable?
Yeeeeeeessssss!!!!!!! I love him and Grandma too 🥰🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘😘😘
No, not mine.
I'm not sure how someone who I do not know, that I happen to see in one video, becomes my "grandpa".
I never got to meet mine, so this was sweet to see!
@@martinc.720 it’s a joke 😂 some of us miss our grandfathers and it’s nice to see 🤷🏻♀️ don’t know what’s wrong with that but okay aha
What a sweet grandpa! I have so much respect for the older generation that can do everything themselves. Life skills and quality time!!
Absolutely! Well said
He is adorable!!

K & N - I’m from knoxville, went to UT & I swear it’s like you guys grew up down the street. I’m sure ppl tell you that all the time but Southern kids get each other. I love how you love your family & the values we seem to share. I appreciate how respectful you are & how much home training you have…. It really shows. We take these things for granted but the world needs to see it. Thank you for being such good examples. Love y’all.
Nate, your grandpa is amazing! That generation just knew how to get stuff done. Reminds me of my own grandfather, who passed away about 20 years ago. Still miss him!
"This is one of those things that takes 5 minutes, that I should have done 2 months ago." Yep, that feels very real.
Me with my room lol
I love how grandpa said multiplication is 8 th grade stuff. It’s actually 3rd grade now😭. Hence why we are all going nuts....
they make us do algebra in 8th now 😂
You’ll need all of that math education you scoffed at in middle school. Knowing fractions, decimals & basic multiplication/division are key life skills. Trust me. As a female business owner, it’s easy for your suppliers to attempt to take advantage of what they assume is usual female naivete The van is cool & so are you two❣️
Maybe he said "8th" even if it's not accurate? Maybe he does not remember EXACTLY when he learned everything he knows today??
I learnt it in 2nd grade
yea I learned multiplication in 3rd grade XD
Incredible that your 87 year old grandad can still get down on the ground and climb a ladder! God love him and bless him and your mawmaw!!!!
This video almost made me cry. Because your grandfather is so sweet I don’t have any grandpas both passed away. 😔
I feel you! Watching these videos makes me wish I had done cool things with my grandpas
I'm from Kentucky and my grandfather passed away in February at 90 years old. Your pop reminds me just exactly of him: speech patterns, bonding over work, the way he jokes with you. What a blessing he is and what a joy this was for me to watch!
Nate’s Grandfather: Let’s do so math first!
Nate: I forgot how to multiply....
Me: 🤣
That made my day lol
AS a math teacher two thumbs up your papa, and summer school for you young man!
Your grandma's words of wisdom. "Don't turn that camera on me". That was hilarious.
Few things mean more than hearing a grandparent say "...ya did well" especially knowing how tough they must be having grown up on the heels of the great depression.
Loved watching Nate work on the van with his Grandfather. It was even more sweet when Grandma came to help wash the van. ❤️ Those moments are truly priceless. I wish my grandparents were still here. 😢
I LOVE Nate’s grandparents. They are precious and make me miss my parents even more. ❤️
Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I was feeling really low today. Watched some of your videos and now I feel much better. Everything seems much better now.💜
A big hug to everybody going through tough times. xx
Kara and Nate you guys are amazing!💜
Your grandparents are so precious!! We must protect them at all costs!
As someone who lost his grandfather due to Covid just a couple or months ago...this hit me on a different level. This is so beautiful; enjoy the moments. God bless.
I'm sorry for your loss. It's been a horrible year and I hope you will keep fond memories of him. All the reason to get vaccinated people!
I don’t often comment on your videos - but your grandparents are seriously soooo precious!
Math: if you don't use it daily ,it will cause you to lose it daily.
To be able to have your grandpa help you do things as an adult ,it warms my heart.
The amount of things that can be fixed with a jiggle is just astounding! 😂
@Lilly Sayles thanks 😉
Sounds like they have a loose wire or connection problem. Other than that there ain't nothing a little jiggle don't fix. 😂
I’m watching this on my grandma’s birthday. She passed away last year. And I know doing all of this with your grandparents, will be something you cherish foreve r
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing those moments with your grandparents, it hit right at home. Born and raised in TN, 2 hours from Nashville. My papaw passed away from covid 2 weeks ago and fiddling around in his garage was one of his favorite hobbies, me and my brother always tried to spend quality time in there with him. Congratulations on getting the vaccine and I hope you get to have more adventures by plane soon❣️
I'm sorry for your loss. {{{hugs}}}
So very sorry for your loss.😔
So sorry for your loss. Keep those memories colse to your hart.
That was cool seeing you work with your grand father.
As a dad it is always nice to see our sons getting and giving help to their grand fathers, still in very good health with both being over 80.
Have a great day guys.
Her words of wisdom: "Don't turn that camera on me." I wholeheartedly agree. She understands how to live in the moment. A precious soul indeed.
Knowing that Eamon and Bec are going through a tough time, it was really heart warming to see you wearing their merch.
Also Love Grandparents! My grandma passed away a few months ago, savor every moment
Hugging your grandma for the first time in a year was so precious!
im so sorry, looking back at this makes me realize how great your grandmother was nate :(
Seeing you work on your van with your grandad is something I wish I was able to do. I was 14 when my grandad passed and I was too immature to realise how ill he was, so I really didn’t see him that often. I’m only 18 now but I wish I could spend just a few more minutes with him.
Absolutely love those Tennessee accents, esp. when the guy told you to pull up next to the "tent". Thanks for brightening my day with your family.
Watching you and your Grandparents together warms my heart! Enjoy every moment, every lesson and story! ❤️
You’re never too old to learn something from your grandparents. ❤️
Killing me with all the tears with Nate’s grandpa and their quality time. Precious time and he reminds me of daddy and my grandpa! Love y’all
"We used to travel on airplanes, now we live in a van" AHHH NEW INTRO!
Nate doing math is exactly me trying to do math 🤣😭 Bless his heart
My favorite scene 🤦🏻♀️🤣
Next, I want to see him write in cursive. ;)
Kara, that little chime when Nate smiles and says "For scale" - it's adorable
Your grandfather is a LEGEND. You will look back on this and smile in the future. Its great that you have this on tape.
Your Grandfather is amazing! What a role model on how to age. He's more active and energetic than a lot of people half his age!!! How inspiring! ❤️
Those family memories are more precious than all of the travels.
As someone who’s grandparents and parents have been gone for years, I can certainly echo this statement.
Bless your Grandfather. Lost my Grandma at 87 6 years ago, and miss her every day ❤️
With how often Nate wears that beaver outfit, you’d think Bucee’s was sponsoring them.
I wish!
Lol
He's attention seeking
Who knows what the future holds huh?
I love Nate's grandparents. My grandma was a teacher so I had the exact same experiences with her testing my math skills at random times.
1 out of 3 videos that you put on UA-cam make me cry. The grandparents are adorable
Anybody else happy to know that Kara and Nate sing along to emo jams until they lose their voice too?
Cute without the E is probably one of the greatest emo songs to scream along to at that!
@@patrickstevenson4275 it’s literally IMPOSSIBLE not to scream along haha
i found this channel yesterday oh my do we need their spirit
@@melaniegrant3934 make sure to watch the three or four videos from their Antarctica trip!!!
yeah, makes it a lot less awkward for me now :)
Nates pop is so precious, and his grandma must be protected at all cost
I am in tears, how awesome to hang with Grandpa and Grandma. Beautiful day of great memories created.
Seeing Nate and his grandpa working on the van together made my day 😍 I miss my grandpas
This vlog was so sweet with your grandparents. I so enjoyed it. As a former math teacher, I loved that your grandpa made you do the math by hand.
I think the best part of the video was the quality time Nate spent with this grandpa ❤️
Reminds me what I would do with my grandparents: errands, cleaning, and cooking. Quality time talking 💗
Your grandparents are the new YT superstars!
Man... I would give anything to be able to hang out with my grandparents again.
This hit home for me. Hope you are doing well. Best.
May I thank you for the family centered video? Stumbled onto you a few weeks ago and knew you were special but this video...slapped a smile on my face that will happen again and again when I remember this video. I can relate to the grandmother's relief when she knows you are safe and I can also relate to the time you spend with them that all of you know are treasures kept in your heartbox!
can the world please have more of your grandparents? I mean we love you guys. But, that sir was a treat. They seem like some amazing people.
Your grandparents are treasures. I miss having my grandparents around.
I've always wanted to make this comment but never had the energy to but I have been watching you guys for years. I stopped watching for about a year and now you guys are my comfort you tubers. I normally have panic attacks at night, the amount of times I have just watched you guys and its the same videos because I've watched them all just because it makes me feel like I can sleep. Thank you guys you don't know how much you have done for me
I love that Nate's become so attached to the Bucky Beaver costume! High fives and fist bumps with Nate's grandpa were so cute! ❤️
Special to see you wearing Eamon & Bec merch..... you're supporting them during this difficult time following Lee's death. 💔💗
You will cherish this footage with your grandfather. So precious! And congratulations on the first dose! I got a little emotional when I got my second!
I'd give anything to be able to spend 5 mins with my grandfather again😭.
Best part of this video is when I actually laughed out loud at Nate saying he was gonna get that thing off to make up for his multiplication skills. Omg. Hilarious! And cuteness overload with grandpa! My dad is 82 and is exactly like Nates grandpa! I follow my dad everywhere and I'm 46! So awesome.
Please tell your grandparents they really made me smile and it was much needed since I’m currently dealing with potential homelessness and I’m really scared but that hooray made me grin so big.
Your grandpa is kind of a savage asking you who got that thing off you or your mamma. 😂
Nates relationship with his Grandparents is truly something special! That's pure bliss right there!
Great video Kara and Nate. Working on the van was a wonderful way for Nate to connect and spend quality time with his grandfather. Time goes by very fast, so it's important to make those connections with loved ones as often as possible.
knowing that kara and nate were fans of 2000's emo music brings me great joy
i think any video with your grandparents will have millions of views, they seem so genuinely nice.
You grandpa is an inspiration. I love the relationship you have with your grandparents.
It’s so cute that Nate still wears the onesie from the gas station.
It’s a cozy onesie and probably cost a bit so of course hehe
Oh my goodness! Nates grandpa is the cutest grandpa ever! How lucky you are to get to spend that time with him! All of my grandparents are gone and have been for a long time. Every time I see someone with their grandparents I get jealous. What a great memory to make with him!
Your grandparents are the sweetest, enjoy your time with them. Make me miss doing things with my grandparents.
Nates grandpa is the cutest thing Iv ever seen! His sarcasm is everything!!! 💜💜
i can't lie, i commenting earlier before watching the whole video, watching you with your grandfather was so cool. not sure about anything but i am willing to bet your grandfather will remember this for a long time. i wish my sons could spend that kind of time with my father.
I think youtube is deleting comments or something
I love your grandparents Nate they are so cute! Blessing to be able to spend time with them. Cherished memories!
SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH YOUR GRANDFATHER AS YOU CAN......he's a GEM!!!
sometimes I like to remember that to get those cool van driving off into the distance shots someone needs to stand and be left behind before running to the van or the van turning around and picking them up
Nate your grandparents are adorable. That time you spent with your grandfather is priceless.
That's pure bliss right there!
Omg! I could not imagine an 18 hour trip without music. Jiggling fixes everything!
Military does it all the time (on missions) and it’s brutal and some of the most off the wall conversations are discussed
@@baileybadass2235 I'm in the military too. My experience is a little different though. My long missions were mostly transfer releases from Cuba or partnering with other countries on knowledge transfer relations. They usually let us bring headphones. I was never downrange though so I'm sure that's a hellava lot different.
@@baileybadass2235 I have experienced those off the wall conversations plenty of times though. Mostly with divers and EOD. Some weird dudes. 🤣
@Lilly Sayles Yes, thank you. Still stand by that. Giggling still fixes everything.
We need more grand-papy on here. He’s just so wholesome 😊. It’s wonderful
