I just found your channel tonight. I’m an avid car camper and I also have an FJ. I have a 2014. Depending on the trip that I’m going on I sometimes sleep inside the back of the FJ or I set up a tent next to it. I can’t wait to see more of what you do with camping in your FJ.
Oooo that's awesome! It's a small community that we are, but a solid one. Expedition coming up soon so there will be more :) What kind of trips do you usually do?
wokenstoked I live in Michigan so I travel to the upper peninsula quite a bit. I belong to a local Michigan Toyota group and we go up there together quite a bit. I also travel through Sault Sainte Marie up in to Canada (when the border was open) just north of pancake Bay on lake superior is one of my favorite spots. The upper Peninsula of Michigan is all about four wheeling. There are trails everywhere. Sometimes I just like to go and disperse camp in the woods by myself though I do that quite a bit. Actually most of the time. I’m usually solo unless I’m going wheeling. So far this year I have camped all but two weekends since March. I just got back from a five day vacation in the upper peninsula it was amazing. I post my pictures on Instagram if you’re interested.
wokenstoked I have been wheeling for 30 years. This is my second FJ my first one was a 2011. I have a 2014 cement one now that I bought brand new in 2014.
Hi, I just found your post and have subscibed. Love it. Would just like to mention I am 57 and have worked around West Australia my whole life, living in pubs or setting up camp and have never used spotlights/light bar once. Have fitted them in earlier years, but never needed them. High beam has always been quite adequate.
Love your FJ build. Really clean and functional.
Appreciate it man! Means a lot coming from an engineer haha
Awesome video brotha, love the channel name too lol. Legend.
Ayyy respect!
Great Tips! Really like the car battery booster. I feel like a lot of people don’t consider it an important part of their kit. Nothing can ruin a trip faster then a dead car battery. If you ever plan a trip to Michigan and the Upper Peninsula I would love to share some of my favorite car camping/overlanding campsites. Keep up the good work!
Nice Job : keep posting ! Would Like to see your reviews of your equipment , specifically the tent and goalzero 👍
Thank you! For sure, I'll put the goalzero on the list, and here's the tent review: ua-cam.com/video/oZAGfg8HPgk/v-deo.html
Thank you for the information!!👍👍🌹🌹
thanks for sharing!
Awesome fj dude. I'm going to buy one. Such a perfect adventure rig
I strongly approve of this decision 👌
@@stokedtour I love your rig!
Perfect list of essentials. I would like to add water storage.
Stumbled onto your page and love. My end goal to also get a fj cruiser and a rooftop tent. Love it
Amazing! You’re gonna love it
Awesome mate!! Got urself a new subscriber
oh my god you're the guy on Ronny's modified video of the blue FJ! This is so cool haha, small world! I love the setup that you have
wokenstoked ahah that the one mate! Small world! The FJ has changed a lot since that modify happy to share it with you if you like to see mate
yeah for sure man! I didn't get a chance to look through your videos yet but I did see that it does look a bit different
If that rooftop tent maker was smart, they give folks an option to have the top shell with a built-in solar array.
Agreed, I am running solar panels right now and I wish I had somewhere to mount them without doing my own retrofit
@@stokedtour Need to call Elon!
Nice ride. well done. Great tips thank you.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Very good idea, convenient, flexible and save money too
I love the oriental music in the back ground....he didn't show us the rice cooker.😂
It’s pretty good ideas 💡 thanks 🙏
Hello! We have the same roof tent but have not yet tested it in low temperatures. How cold can you be comfortable without the inner thermal insulation? Keep up the good work, we love your content, a hug from Spain!
Nice content, nice vehicle
appreciate it!
Nice videos you come off as a youtube pro. Im happily thinking about getting an fj or jeep or bronco :-) fj for the reliability, jeep for the look and space and bronco because its the newest of them all and nicest looking in my opinion its also very similar to the jeep.
Appreciate it! Oooooo the new Bronco looks REALLY nice! I love the FJ but I won't be upset if you go for a jeep or a bronco 😉 Thanks for the support!
thanks bro, i wanted to cover corners ty.
Appreciate the video bro, recently got a 08’ Fj myself. Sandstorm & blacked out everything else. Someone link me on the best sites to order aftermarket stuff for this thing. Looking to get sequential HID’s & then a new bumper.
You probably found already, but if not this site is tops for not only discussing the best parts, but also how to/ DIY, tips, tricks, advise, much more. I think 4 runner ( FJ cousin ) has a similar website and many of the topics are close enough and or related for us FJ’ers. Cheers.
Nice tips!
for the full tent review: ua-cam.com/video/oZAGfg8HPgk/v-deo.html
right. Got floods u can attach to bars on roof cargo boxes r great.
Love it! That is awesome! We have an fj that we are looking at making our family “travel vehicle” for road trips and to visit other friends and family. Quick question about the roof top tent. Could you sleep 2 adults and 2 young kids in there somewhat comfortably?
Thanks! The tent has an XXL version that states that it should be able to sleep 2 adults and 2 kids! I've never seen int but that's what they state. Also have the full tent review here if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/oZAGfg8HPgk/v-deo.html
@@stokedtour oh don’t worry, I’ve already watched it and liked it! It does look pretty sweet!
I have a 05 Ford Escape Hybrid. Would love a 4 runner or Xterra or FJ.
I had someone on one of my other videos say that they purchased an FJ because of my channel haha - this could be you too 😛
What front bumper is that and what rainguard for over the doors did you use?
The front bumper is a weld kit from Coastal Offroad, and the rain guards are by AVS👍
Hello, Which one is your front bumper?
Good
What’s the link to buy that tent for the fj
What do you do in the winter when it’s cold for your electronics? I feel like those low temps would be bad for laptops and stuff
Yeah, simpler electronics like flashlights and lamps work fine, but more complex ones like laptops and some high end battery chargers won't work when it drops down below -5C or so. If I really need to use those items, I try to put them in a cooler box with a hot water bottle so it can keep them at usable temperatures. I talk about what I do with batteries here too: ua-cam.com/video/63zDjVhFlO0/v-deo.html. Hope this helps!
@@stokedtour That cooler idea is genius! I might do it with one of those recharagable hand warmers off Amazon. Thanks for the help. Will be watching that other vid and subscribed, keep it up bro!
Note sure if anybody else mentioned it, but you need;
- Drinking Water (20L plus)
Review roof tent please
beauty, I'll get the ball rolling
Can I put a paddle board on top of that roof top tent?
No, there's no cargo loading for this tent. The only tent that James Baroud offers that has cargo ability on top is the Explorer, but the space is pretty small.
What’s with the panel missing at the bottom of the windshield on the left?
lol, the plastic clips all broke when I removed that piece to feed a wire through, and it flew right off on the highway
Hey that happened too me! Great video!
because of you i want a FJ lol
What kind of gas mileage do you get with the external mounted stuff (tent, bumper, etc)?
I take it pretty lightly on the road because of the weight it has...I do the granny approach going only about 62mph in the slow lane and i manage about about 18.3mpgs
@@stokedtour not too bad! Thanks bro. Sweet build!
Niceeee setup! Where from ontario sre you from? I have a VEERRY similar rig (Tepui) lol...dude where did you go camping? Im dying to get out!
Thanks! FJ too? Southern Ontario - haven't been camping at all, just waiting till all these restrictions get lifted :(
FJ in white also from southern ontario (york region) - wife and I are organizing another trip to the east coast but who knows if this is doable...non essential travel is banned into other provinces
Oh cool! that's awesome haha. Where in the east? I almost did a trip around Newfoundland last year but didn't have enough time. I'm basically tracking to see what is possible from a traveling standpoint...trying to go west if possible
*Time Stamps:*
1. Storage System (0:59)
2. Power Bank (1:53)
3. Sleep Setup (3:48)
4. Extra Lights (6:17)
5. Car Battery Booster (7:55)
What year is your FJ and how many miles on it now?
'09 200,000 miles
FJ=Sub'd👍
You should buy your own battery booster so you don't have to borrow mine
I would get my own, but I'm not sure you have a vehicle to use it on right now mate 😉
I like the roof trnt feels more safer
Defnitely feels safer 🙌
lmao this dude "woke n stoked"
My parents gave me that name at birth
I just can't justify spending money on a RTT
TOILET? Shower?
There are toilets that you can buy that are just buckets with a seat on them, or you can pull in to rest stops or campsites along the way. For women, there's a product called a SheWee that quite a few people I know have used to just pee in the woods. For showers, I run over an affordable shower option over in this video: ua-cam.com/video/bvbbKJRvyTA/v-deo.html . Hope that helps!
Dudes got some long ass digits lol he needs to play piano or some shit
