I can’t camp without my 8” cast iron skillet. It’s small but mighty! Just tried your hot water bottle tip for cold weather camping and it was a game changer!
I’m going to go out in the Spring, if all goes well. I have some similar items, and haven’t some of the others you showed here. Awesome table, awning and the small charger w/ multiple plugs. Great video. Thanks. And also? Thanks for telling folks that they don’t NEED all the expensive items and things you have and encouraging them/us to get out there, regardless, eh?
I can attest to this video (after finishing a 5.5 week roadtrip a week ago) that the aeropress, MRS pocket rocket, and bug screens/window blackouts (made by "Qualizzi") were some of the most essential equipment. Also Yeti knockoff cooler from Aldi was great. Good cooking pans too.
I have those window nets and l love them. Not only to keep the bugs out but as a solo camper they offer some privacy, If you don't have them, get them.
Nice gear reviews! I've had 2 Subaru Outback's (both my wife's cars) and I've found that upgrading the battery to a larger amp hour unit is well worth the cost. I went with the Interstate MTZ-34 AGM for my wife's 2019 Outback.
Sunjack, the best backpacking solar panel, battery packs, various lights and other things. I've been using their products for years and I swear by them.
What kind of fuel is in the Radiate Portable CAMP Fire? I have six metal tins about that size. I would like to make these for my kids and grandkids. I enjoyed your gear review. Blessings, peace and safety in your travels.
Hey your channel is awesome. Started following a couple weeks ago when I built out my car and it's been super helpful. Was stoked when I heard you mention your fire experience as I've been applying to a bunch of fire crews for the 2022 season including a couple in Fairbanks. Have you talked about that anywhere else on your channel?
Your videos are amazing, simple, to the point, and constructive, not to mention your skills with drone aerial views. One item I haven't seen you talk about - or anybody else for that matter - is about releasing yourself, portable toilets or anything that is practical to carry with you or simply how to protect the environment. Keep those great videos coming.
Check out backpacking bidets for leave no trace practice. There are some videos on UA-cam about it on backpacking or bikepacking channels. If you car camp then composting toilet would be my recommended choice
The silky saw is so lightweight. But mighty. I use my jackery battery camping or at home when we’ve had power outages. I have the solar panels to recharge it as well. I keep water jugs in my car at all times cuz they come in handy for so many things. Great as a hand washing station at camp as well as a way to fetch and store cooking and drinking water.
Great info. Thank you. I didn't know about the portable campfire. Have to add my two cents on one item: NOCO Boost Plus reminded me of my Schumacher SL1315. USB outputs, flashlight... quite similar. And it is SO great to have in the ol' kit!
are you satisfied with your Subaru ? what's better, forrester, out back or crosstrek ? how's the AWD system? reliable ? will you plan on lifting and upgrading the tires for higher clearance ?
The portable fire and chainsaw is what I’ve been wanting, adding to the Christmas list 🎅
Рік тому
Well said, i agree with all. What helped me most was the jetboil (clone), saw for wood, jackery (ecoflow) with solar panel from which i can run fridge much longer now, and smaller power banks. What you missed and i feel is important is sleeping - having a thick matrass or sleeping pad, and a good pillow (still searching for something small yet soft and comportable). The candle in a box is awesome, never heard of it.
Thanks for the great list, man. the magnetic lights are something I wouldn't have ever thought about. And solid message to just get out there, for folks who like to overplan like me.
Thanks for putting out this type of content. Recently purchased an Outback Wilderness and super inspired by your DIY platform video. Have any tips for someone wanting to try and make a build like that but doesn’t know the first thing about carpentry, etc?
Nice video! Very similar to the gear that I use with my Outback, I even have the same mosquito nets. Although I would like to add that a water purifier/filter bottle is very handy if you don't want to fill your car with large jugs (especially in winter when they freeze) but wanna get water along the way. Also a hot water bottle, that's gold to put in your sleeping bag on cold nights. I might also add that the NOCO can be used as a power bank for charging your phone as well. ...oh! and a small shovel, for when you get snowed in. There are these foldable ones that don't take up much space but are still really good.
Great vid! A lot of the stuff I have and some things that I still want to get. Just from what I've seen other youtubers do if your snow camping with the awning, lower one side of the pole to create an angle to let the snow run off.
I bought one for backpacking, but then realized I wanted and need it for all kinds of situations. Backcountry and cell service do not mix. It feels good to just have it in my car.
Hey I was wondering if you had any advice on essential recovery/emergency equipment you carry? I camp very similarly to you in my crosstrek, generally going to trails and not doing hardcore off-roading. Wondering what is actually necessary for me
Can you make a part 2? We have very similar taste and I found this video very useful for discovering new gear. There's a lot of videos out there about best camping gear but they're usually from channels called "top ten camping" or "survival tips" etc. They are usually very generic. None of the gear is actually tested by them and it often includes amazon knockoff items that are not great. This video is significantly more useful. I spend a lot of time researching new gear but there is always something new to discover and try. Keep up the videos, excellent content!
Thanks for the Portable fire tip- I will certainly try one the gold standard of Multi Charger (Booster) would be the GOOLoo brand I have had a similar window bug nets for a while - they are nice...
You are really good at what you do. You explained everything you mentioned the brand names and I doubt you're getting any Kickback for that, and if you are not they should be doing that for you period at any rate, I'm getting the jackery battery I'm going to get the bug Nets. And a few other things you have mentioned. I'm in my seventieth Year and have lost my home due to the political climate and economic climate where it's a seller's market and everybody wants to take the money and run and my landlord died in the family did that so I'm going to be homeless and living out of my 2009 Subaru, and it's very encouraging to have someone like you much younger much wiser more able to do what I have to do myself. The things that you have offered, are excellent for my needs. I appreciate you so much and thank you from the bottom of my 2009 Subaru!
Great job, just signed up to your channel!! Love the gadget’s, thanks for doing all the homework on the offered items so that we don’t have to. You’re well spoken and your range of items described are great. Keep you the hard work, I know it’s difficult to edit footage just for our enjoyment. This is Alan, greetings from Riverside in Southern California.
I know you are a guy and didn’t get into this, but the Kula cloth for gals is SO convenient and it’s not just a backpacking thing. Def a car camping thing if you are dispersed.
thanks for these tips on gear --- very helpful. Some of my ancestors were pioneers who went to Ohio in a covered wagon (I am researching my family tree right now) and they got along fine without any techie stuff (if they hadn't I wouldn't be here now), so your observation at the end is so true, I think ---- if you can't afford all the gadgets now, you can still camp out the old-school way and acquire them bit by bit.
Recommendations on a good small axe for splitting larger pieces of logs into kindling pieces? Thanks for the rest of the tips and items, already have some loaded up into my Amazon cart.
That is actually something I’m looking into at the moment. I’ve always used fairly cheap ones that don’t last long but I hope to change that soon. Anybody else have suggestions?
I've tried out a small axe and was shocked by how much harder it was to split wood versus the batoning method. I find it much much easier to split wood with a fixed blade knife. It's also more versatile. Just my 2 cents! Cheers
Fiskars X11 splitting axe or Lexivon V18. Or if you want American made with a wooden handle check out Council tool Miners axe. They make 2 with a 20inch handle
Your presentation was excellent. I bought a 1999 Honda CR-V AWD, and think about making it “camp ready”. Nevertheless, this video has convinced me to hurry up and buy.
Good gear! You should have mentioned if you don’t need it now don’t buy unless it’s Black Friday, Cyber Monday or a good sale. I bought my inreach mini for $250 at an REI sale. They are usually $350.
I use solar Paclites and they even float, king of like an inflatable cube that provides LED light. What kind of awning and chairs are you using? Nice video, I use many of the same items.
Whats something you won't go camping without? As always, thanks for the continued support! 🙏
A gopro
@@reapertalon Ahhh a fellow video geek. I concur!
@@reapertalon This! Well, plus the 3 other cameras
@@Chase_Schrader 😂 Same. And a million batteries
@@ChaseChristopher1 Naw just one spare for everything and an inverter! Did 5 days in the backcountry and didn't have an issue haha
Nice and concise; straight to the point(s). No rambling on and on. THANK YOU!

hah!

Awesome set up. Only thing I could recommend would be netting in the ceiling for soft goods attic storage
My favorite car camping channel. Thanks for posting !
Hey thanks Susan, I appreciate your support!

Been car camping for little under a year now. Love it. Takes me to my happy place. Good stuff.
I absolutely love gadgets of all kinds! But especially ones that are really useful!
Folding shovel (trenching too), axe or large knife, small knife, fire starting tools (lighter, ferrocium rod, flint & steel), IFAK, whistle or pocket horn, bear spray, firearm...
I have those window nets and l love them. Not only to keep the bugs out but as a solo camper they offer some privacy,
If you don't have them, get them.
I don't know how I missed about the shovel 🤣 basic and useful !
The radiate campfire things are awesome. Been using them for years.
Lol...the last line...closed captions said:"...because nobody likes surface chairs!" Rollin'
Great advice as well: Gas first, then gear. Loved it!
Haha good, my voice muting hid the not-UA-cam-friendly word

In bear country you’ll want to use a portable electric bear fence. Keeps the campsite secure for peace of mind and good nights’ sleep.
Saw that in oregon where they had quite a problem w mountain lions. Motion detector lights w portable electric fence.
Thank you for this video !!! I loved the way you advertised the items but always keeping the camping spirit alive !!! 🔥 Respect

Get a cheap japanese handsaw from Harbor Freight...costs about $10 and cuts through any sort of wood
Good video. I like to have a cafeteria tray handy for cooking and putting cups on.
That there VSSL magig is damn cool.
I love that campfire candle
Great ideas. i have the jet boil but let me husband use it now i need a new one. lol. going to seward alaska in the summer. woo hoo.
Wonderful video, very informative with great product suggestions and a touch of humor. 👍
Nice to meet you. It's cold winter but warm camping videos are the best. I'll look around often.^^
