My dad bought one on launch back in 2007! I remember I was so excited to see it, he showed me pictures and even as a kid I was incredibly excited for the old design being used as the base for the new one! Then he got it, he worked on the oil rigs in alberta, canada, and a chevy Silverado half ton with mud tires, he had 4 of them, they would always get stuck and were kinda just disposable pieces of junk after 150,000km. He modified the FJ right away after he got it so it would be ready for his first hitch back on the rig. He got a set of 35 inch mud tires, a 4 inch lift kit, cool rockstar rims, and then he rockgaurded the bumpers and the roof rack, and painted anything that wasnt black, black. Including the white roof, thing was blacked out, he put limo tint on the windows and everything. Cool to think that he couldnt have done all that in 2007 right at launch if it wasnt for the aftermarket support! It was a cool truck, he never got stuck in it, not even once over 3 years driving through shit that would get a chevy stuck. He would drive over fallen trees, though roads that were flooded out, and it didnt matter if the lease itself had knee deep mud he was getting in and out of there! Thing was a beast in the mud and on the lease roads!! I miss that truck so so much!

The FJ also stands out due to its paint- at the time, practically every car had metallic paint. The simple gloss finish was so unique at the time. Also, the original prototype was supercharged.
Thong Slapper two reasons really, first, the US market doesn’t have the 70series, basically just Australia, NZ and South Africa. Second, straight out of the box, the FJ is the better car. The 70 series is a ton heavier and the engine is down rated from what it’s capable of. Now, that said, spend some money on the 70 and yeah, you’ll outperform the FJ, but the FJis half the price kitted out.
If you compare reliability, the FJ doesn't have a leg to stand on. 70 series Land Cruiser's from the 80s and 90s still run, with nearly a million km's in Australia and South Africa. In the bush, they don't break down.

I saw a Land Cruiser a month ago. Right hand drive and all. It was utterly magnificent.
I also have fj cruiser and it’s freaking amazing off-roader I take it to dessert every month
Is it safe?

The FJ Cruiser was my most favorite car when I was little
I love the FJ cruiser, I still would love to buy one.
Man I just can't get enough of up to speed, there's is very few people who can make learning the history of cars and car manufacturers so dang amusing😂😂😂😂
i love my fj, but the windshield struggle is real 😂
Little tip to prevent cracking it add a tint or a protective film on the outside from like 3m and it won’t crack
@@abode550 Fj lover here, couldnt this lead to poor reflections and glare in light?
Apparently the FJ Cruiser in Brazil is known as the Bandeirante. That's cool i guess. Hi from Brazil
booce bung Brazilian built FJ40s are called Bandeirante. No the FJ Cruiser. ;)
Hello from my couch
Best FJ cruiser video by far
Thanks for shouting out Nos Energy Drink! ^-^
They stopped production but these are still being sold as new 2019 models at my local Toyota dealership, in the Middle East.
They didn't stop building until late 2022. Sold as '23 models
It was because of Donut Media and James who encouraged me to try NOS Energy Drink, original flavor. Very delicious and yes...it is energetic. WHOOP. Great video on the FJ CRUISER THOOOO

I saw it first!!!! Hahaha love it. Keep up thev good work.
Yes I will drop out of college and use all my parents tuition to buy many FJ cruisers.
This sounds like a good rational idea.
If someone had told me to design a car before this FJ was made, I could have designed a car like this one. This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
"There's gold in them mountains" got me good
Me: I got a legit NOS ad halfway through this video.
Me: *What did it cost?*
Donut: *everything*
I have an 07 in voodoo blue...... coolest vehicle I can think of, and man this thing is so good in the snow!!
The fortnite thing had me dead 💀 😂
U.S: hey Toyota, can you make us a jeep but for men?
Toyota: Say nomo
Wow you sound very insecure in your manhood. F for your tiny pee pee
What about the FJ makes you think it’s for men?

Up the speed on suzuki jimny / samurái saga & lada please!!!!
I learned to drive in a 1982 FJ40 Land Cruiser (that my granddad still runs on the farm as his work truck) so the new(ish) FJ is one of my dream cars
Aww man, that little dog, mine was the same breed as him and he died three months ago.. I miss him so much.
