Eric T yeah, I spent a lot of time looking at chuck boxes and decided I didn’t want to have to lug the kitchen out of the car and set it up every time but it all depends on how you like to cook and what kinds of camp sites you visit. I agree! What really impresses me is the combination of off-the-shelf, factory-made components (because most of us just don't have the time or skill to build something better than a $100 file cabinet, and if we did, the hardware would probably cost$150). But then combined with some great custom work to integrate them. The shelf and sink, the waterbrick and rechargeable pump-faucet...wow! Really well thought out integration! Thanks for showing us.
Thank God. Someone is actually using their brains and doing things the easy way. It would be sooo easy to use this even in a van build to save time money and effort. Kudos dude. Checked connections, tried DC, opened up the panel to check fuses, nothing. Just dead. It has been running perfectly since March but seems the power supply or control board just blew out suddenly. I contacted Alpicool through Amazon and amazingly they agreed to credit me if I sent it back. I think I learned my lesson: these Chinese knockoffs are a great deal but if they only last a year or two (or less), it's probably worth paying 2-3x as much for a Dometic, ARB, etc. and know it will last and be repairable. I'll make an updated video on this soon.

First of all, thanks for sharing. I really love the idea of traveling the world by car. Because of my age and my husband's not an adventurous spirit, I believe I will be a little tired from the marathon to one and not to two. I will try to copy your ideas although, I would also like to sleep in the car.
Best of luck in your travels. If you’re going to sleep in the car, you might need to make a smaller, lower kitchen so the top is part of your bed. We’re in a tent.
This is fantastic Todd. At first glance I thought oh no it’s way too complicated for me to build. Thankfully I hung in there to the end. Thank you so much for the great ideas.
Thank you for this video. I've been trying to figure out to configure a removable system in my Sienna while still using one side of the rear seats. I appreciate you showing the resources especially for the fridge slideout.
@@todd.parker Yes, mine would be simple as I don't need the pull out table or sink. Just storage and slider for the fridge which I found for $165 in stock :-).
Excellent video i did a similar build in my Jeep but instead of a filing cabinet i used a craftsman toolbox, I also have a similar water system the slide out for the sink is ingenuous i may need to borrow that one keep up the good work. I guess i need to do a video this has been very helpful for a weekend camper like myself
Awesome! I subbed because you seriously earned it. I think I'll put your ideas to use in my van. What powerbank would you use if you could use anything you like?
There's lots of good options out there. I'd try to get one that uses a LiFePO4 battery - they are a bit bigger and heavier but are safer and have a much higher cycle count. Not sure the perfect unit is out there quite yet...I keep looking! I'm pretty disappointed by the new Yeti X line so although I like my Yeti 1000, I think I may try a different brand at some point.
I am using a Bluetti EB 240 solar generator. The only drawback to this is that the inverter is only 1000 W. Bluetti has some newer products with larger inverters. I have a 320 W rigid solar panel bolted to my roof rack that charges the Bluetti.
Thinking about something like this for my CR-V. My concern is being able to access my spare. Next vehicle I'll make sure it's mounted outside because I don't want to take apart my kitchen by the side of the road!
Something to think about Kristen is how often have you actually had to use the spare? In 111k miles on my Element, I've used the spare once and it was a local around town trip, not cross country. I made the decision not to worry about any extra effort to extract the spare when camping.
Excellent, excellent video!!! Extremely well put together, articulated and demonstrated. Details! and easy references for purchases. Not to mention the ingenuity here is outstanding. Thank you, thank you for sharing all this.
I got many useful ideas from this video. And a special thanks for showing the shopping links’s it makes looking for the items you purchased much easer. Too bad I can only give one thumbs up.

Love it and thank you for posting both the video and the items list...very helpful!!!! Any updates since your last post?
Here is a list of the key parts I used. I didn’t include the price of the fridge, Yeti, or solar panels in the video since these are optional add-ons (I happened to own). You can just use a cooler and skip the fridge and power stuff. The other commercial camp kitchens I mentioned don’t include these in their pricing either so I was trying to compare apples to apples. I bought a costway fridge (rebranded alpicool) and it stopped working within 3 days. I ended up just paying the premium cost of a $1k arb fridge for reliability and peace of mind. They also draw less power.
Jonathan Ramirez Yeah, I was hoping I’d luck out but I figured if I wasn’t fortunate to get a refund (they didn’t have to), bought another cheapo fridge and that died with the next few years and had to buy a 3rd, I’d ~$1,200 into it which ya what a good brand costs and will last for decades.
Love the video and simplicity. Second person with filling cabinet. Just bought an Ford Econoline and I am using a bigger file cabinet that I already own, mine is the wider type, which is like two of that one. Your video gave me better ideas. Thank you, go out there and have fun.
Wow I just want to say I am so impressed. I would love to have an SUV or a minivan that was well equipped like that. I wish that they had them all ready to go like that you know like when you go to purchase your vehicle. Thank you so much I really appreciate it
Yeah, I agree. They do sell drop in units but they are very pricy. This is a pretty basic build so if you can build a cornhole set, you could probably built this. No fancy workworking required.
So glad I tripped over this video! I have a CFX-35 that I've used in my GTI. It's only drawback is that I have to pull out the fridge to get anything out of it. I've contemplated some sort of slide-out. They're tough to find in an application as small as mine. HAHA! Keep up the good work!
This is awesome. I just built an elevated bed base using the info from this video including the pull out counter. Super easy and lose the results. I've never built anything before so this video was instrumental and very helpful and detailed. Thanks so much :)
Nice to meet you too, suv camper I envy the professional-level stubborn kitchen system. I'm a beginner camper. I installed an exhaust fan recently. I hope it helps. Thank you for the great video.
I see you are using those three gallon water bricks. They look like they fit into the space perfect. Much better than a 5 gallon jug which is much heavier, I think I will end up getting these. Thanks for showing us your kitchen.
Glad it was helpful. The only thing I don’t love about the water bricks if you’re using their spigot instead of the powered pump is it seems you can only empty them halfway without lifting up the back a bit because the spigot it in the center instead of the bottom. Just FYI.
Really happy to see goal zero put regulated 12v now. Finally got a x series goal zero hope to make a similar build with a bed in mind. That faucet is really popular seems everyone has it now!
Yeah, it’s great they include that now. Those faucets are great, I just did a new build and those still work like a champ, esp if you can keep the ranks below the faucet to avoid leaking
@@todd.parker I'm incorporating this into my van build. Great use of countertop space by having a pullout kitchen sink as needed. For your collapsable sink, could you connect a hose to it so it would drain into a bucket?
Tim Chan you probably could finesse something as a tube but it doesn’t have a super standard drain opening and you’d need some way to quick disconnect it when you stow it away. I’m lazy and just pick it up and dump it or (even lazier) just open the drain
Very nifty configuration, piece of mind for sure. Thanks. I think I held my breath the whole time 🙃
Great set up, love the use of magnets and the faucet was so cool.
Glad you enjoyed it. You can tell I love magnets, they are magic.
Thank u So much! This gives me an idea of what products to purchase for my tiny car. I may not know how to build the hardware, but the names of items (like the Sammart Collapsible Dishpan Sink) simplifies a lot. I now know what products to order! Add a portable shower, a cassette potty, etc, and I'm good to go MOBILE! Always wanted to RV but costwize, presently, Not feasible. But I can visualize achieving my goal this way in my little Nissan Versa Note! I know I Can do this! Again, thanks! From a little old lady about to be 70 in September! Take on Beyonce's Fierce, I Won't be afraid! (The younguns shouldn't have All the fun, Ha!) 👍😊
Awesome, have fun!
Enyoied watching this great video. Very nice and simple clean looking set up. The watersystem is my favorite now.
Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and blessings from Germany.
I loved how you explained your setup. Very genuinely built. I loved it you even put where to get it. Thanks.
Dont be like me and over pack. Dont think what ifs. I travel and do a lot of solo car camping. Never could sleep in car. Now I grad to a truck.
This is such a great idea. Thanks for laying out the cost of the wood. Super clever
Really impressed with how well you thought this out! Thank you for sharing...
Glad it was helpful
This is fantastic Todd. At first glance I thought oh no it’s way too complicated for me to build. Thankfully I hung in there to the end. Thank you so much for the great ideas.
Cool. It’s a super simple build, had to make it work my skills and tools 🙃
Thank you for this video. I've been trying to figure out to configure a removable system in my Sienna while still using one side of the rear seats. I appreciate you showing the resources especially for the fridge slideout.
Glad it was helpful. This kind of setup should work great in a Sienna
Yeah, I’d love to see your setup!
So simple, so well thought out, so affordable. Well done Todd, you earned another subscriber. :)
The best video I've ever seen for an easy construction. Lots of great ideas. Congrats from Brazil
Thank you for sharing your build. It’s fantastic!
My pleasure!
ok wow. I absolutely love everything you've done here. I have watched SO MANY SUV camping setups. I relate to your thought processes.
Hello I was checking out the Jackery portable power station 500 outdoor solar.
I am using a Bluetti EB 240 solar generator. The only drawback to this is that the inverter is only 1000 W. Bluetti has some newer products with larger inverters. I have a 320 W rigid solar panel bolted to my roof rack that charges the Bluetti.
This is probably the best video I have found on YOU TUBE in my research for doing the same thing. THANK YOU!
Hey thanks
Great job. I love it. Perfect for Van living also. Very well thought out.
You are quite the genius. Understood everything except the inverter connections 🥁
Very efficient build. UA-cam recommendations bless you.
Thanks for taking the time to put this mobile kitchen vid fir us. Lots of great ideas I will be so grateful for along my way. xo 🇨🇦
I've used the same fridge now for about a year continuously and so far so good, works fine.
Wow That is amazingly amazing I thank you for this I have seen a lot and yours is the best!
Wow, very kind words. Thank you.
Excellent, excellent video!!! Extremely well put together, articulated and demonstrated. Details! and easy references for purchases.
Not to mention the ingenuity here is outstanding.
Thank you, thank you for sharing all this.
Wow, thanks so much! Working on a minivan build now that will sleep 4...
@@todd.parker I'll be watching for it !
Nicely done! THis is a very well thought out execution. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I spend a lot of time researching and tinkering, happy to see it’s interesting to others
Best part for me was the extra pull out with the sink cut out. Great idea.
Thanks, I appreciate that. It works really well and is easy to make.
I got many useful ideas from this video. And a special thanks for showing the shopping links’s it makes looking for the items you purchased much easer.
Too bad I can only give one thumbs up.
You are so welcome!
Wow! Seriously genius camping hack! I gotta watch this a few times just to soak up all these awesome ideas!
Aw, thanks!
Amazing job and great video explaining it all. Thank you for the time spent, it's very helpful
WOW!!! That is fantastic. I can imagine having a rooftop tent for the max of efficiency. Great Job. Roger
That's exactly my plan when I upgrade to a minivan. Pop a rooftop tent on it, find a way to sleep 2 in the van and I'm golden.
I commend you on your "low tech" use of "high tech" modern products.
this is great! really appreciate the pricing for the items and the screen grabs of the online store for items.
Thanks so much for all of the great ideas!
Sure thing, hope you can adapt for your needs
This was one of the best tutorials I have watched and trust me I have watched A LOT!!!!! I think I ordered everything you recommended. THIS WAS GREAT!!!!!
So glad you liked it!
I LOVE when YT “suggests” videos I may like. 😁😁. New sub. I love the simplicity of this build. Any idea which mini van you’ll be getting or are you still researching?
Thank you so much, I appreciate the kind words. 99% sure I’m getting the Pacifica, just waiting for the AWD version to drop this fall
Dude...i just bought a van and wanted to do what you did in your back of car. I've been looking and looking...but of all the hacks...i think your's is exactly what i was looking for...simple but capable...not too much custom work. Love it and thank you for posting both the video and the items list...very helpful!!!! Any updates since your last post?
I did a more ambitious build in my minivan, working on a video now!
Hope this is helpful!

For refrigeration you can always go with a cheap cooler for a simpler setup that is much less money. I opted for a compressor refrigerator/freezer which is very efficient but costs a lot more, do what works for you. In this video, I had the Alpicool T50 dual zone which was awesome but just recently stopped working out of the blue - not recommended until they improve reliability but here is the link:

I just purchased a larger, Dometic CFX3 75DZ dual zone fridge freezer to replace this, will do a video on this soon!

...if you get a compressor fridge, you’d also need some sort of battery to power it when the car is off. You could use a normal deep cycle battery hooked to a car charger but I already own a Goal Zero Yeti 1000 already and it’s a great portable package that includes the battery, charger, solar charger, and inverter in a tidy package that will run the fridge for about a day+ .

Thanks for the great ideas and sourcing the pieces!
Where did you buy your camping pots and pan set?
@@karlamaynor9885 I think I got this one from REI: www.rei.com/product/830828/gsi-outdoors-bugaboo-camper-cookset
Love the video and simplicity. Second person with filling cabinet. Just bought an Ford Econoline and I am using a bigger file cabinet that I already own, mine is the wider type, which is like two of that one. Your video gave me better ideas. Thank you, go out there and have fun.
Excellent. If I had more width, I’d definitely do a double wide. Metal cabinets are so much thinner than wood and magnetic, comes in handy
Wow, some great ideas. I'll be in a mustang so I can use a few of these. Tc and safe travels.
Thanks, enjoy!
the best desing I ever seen . simple practical and clean ! good job dude !
Wow, thanks!
This is brilliant! Pretty easy to build and way cheaper than buying any of the other options mentioned! Thank you for putting this video together!
So glad I tripped over this video! I have a CFX-35 that I've used in my GTI. It's only drawback is that I have to pull out the fridge to get anything out of it. I've contemplated some sort of slide-out. They're tough to find in an application as small as mine. HAHA! Keep up the good work!
Glad it was helpful! Adding a slide out is easy and make it much more usable. Too bad they are pretty expensive.
pure simplicity, aesthetically crafted
Very impressive. You are an excellent Instructor, plus your build is one of the best I've seen.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for a well thought out video of a well thought out build. I appreciated the end where you showed how the platform was out together.
Glad it was helpful!
Looks like all products are very expensive, but you bought it very less price but looking great. Enjoy watching your simple build.
Great video! 'm starting to collect ideas to build out a non permanent camper box. Thanks for the ideas!
This is awesome. I just built an elevated bed base using the info from this video including the pull out counter. Super easy and lose the results. I've never built anything before so this video was instrumental and very helpful and detailed. Thanks so much :)
Glad it was helpful. I’m not great at carpentry either so I designed it so even I could build it
Love the simolicity, great Inspiration for my Family Trip to Sweden this summer
Sounds great!
Nice to meet you too, suv camper
I envy the professional-level stubborn kitchen system.
Just FYI.
I like your design of simple platform and extended tray. i really likes your idea of using a file cabinet to store stuff. thanks for sharing
Great ideas and explanations. Should call yourself the Magnet Man. Seriously, well done!
I like your idea with the sink and faucet. Nicely done!
Glad you liked it, been working well for me so far
@@todd.parker I'm incorporating this into my van build. Great use of countertop space by having a pullout kitchen sink as needed. For your collapsable sink, could you connect a hose to it so it would drain into a bucket?
Tim Chan you probably could finesse something as a tube but it doesn’t have a super standard drain opening and you’d need some way to quick disconnect it when you stow it away. I’m lazy and just pick it up and dump it or (even lazier) just open the drain
Very nifty configuration, piece of mind for sure. I built a beefy connected/interlocking sleeping platform consisting of 5 boxes with hinged lids n drawers but became such a beast, I've gone back to the drawing board. Evolved into 12 Sterilite totes, which is lighter, but still aggro to shuffle in n out. Thanks for a well produced vid and narration. Amazon wishlist beckons. Cheers, n good luck to ya.
I just did the motion sensor lights for the hatch lid on my 4 Runner after watching too many videos of gearheads doing all sorts of complicated, switched, hardwired installations. Cheap and effective. GMTA!
I like the sink and usb rechargeable faucet. That makes everything so much easier.
Yeah much simpler than a 12v pump
Thank You Todd. God bless you and stay safe .. never have I ever felt the urge to go Hillbilly as I do now...with the way the world is crumbling 🤑🤠😎
Yeah, I get it
Thanks Todd! I'm currently in process of designing a kitchen, you and your video gave me lots of idea and out of box thinking!
Many thanks
Glad it was helpful
Great!! You're an artist! Gracias from Spain 🇪🇸🇪🇺
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you Todd! I'm gonna buy the items for the collapsible sink, water bricks, and faucet! That's awesome
best of show, Tom! Love your ideas which can be adapted to any vehicle. Thanks!
Amazing!!! Thank you so much. I zigzag across the USA selling my art. My food bills is higher than I like and usually not to healthy! This is doable!!
