    Hello Alex - Thanks for great channel and info. I appreciate you doing so. Quick question - do you know of any source for ARB Kakadu Root Top Tents I can reach out as I've been having real dificulties finding information/accesories or tips related to this specific roof top tent. Be safe and well.

    Have you found a way to use a universal wind-fairing to help with MPG? For example unless you have a really large roof rack, any of the hard shells will basically go past your flat roof onto the downsloping area towards your windshield. Nothing but a very large roof rack could have a wind-fairing in place there and even then the wind fairing will likely begin underneath the RTT itself rather than infront of the RTT

    • @rooftentinsider512
      @rooftentinsider512  3 роки тому

      Ya thats tough since most hardshell RTTs will overhang near your windshield as you mentioned.. I think in that case there isn't much of a work around unfortunately.

      You can actually get a dehumidifier in the RV camping section. It looks like a hanging bag and it will pull water into the bag.

    • @rooftentinsider512
      @rooftentinsider512  3 роки тому

      Good question, I would say for a decent RTT you're looking at roughly $3,000 give or take! You can find them much more expensive obviously but at that price point you'll get a solid RTT! Check out my article on Average RTT cost, I compare over 39 prices of the most popular brands! rooftentinsider.com/average-roof-top-tent-cost-with-39-prices/

      @@oovoojava3722 The length of the bars should not matter for the tent to fit on them. The length of the bars only matters to fit your vehicle and so it doesn't look too long or short compared to the width of your vehicle.

    What do you mean by watering down? Watering the exterior right? Or do you mean the interior as well after removing the mattress?

    • @rooftentinsider512
      @rooftentinsider512  3 роки тому

      Yes, just watering down the exterior of the tent. Taking the mattress out is smart just because the water will drip into the tent and the mattress takes forever to dry out!

    • @febsie

      I bought my Smilttybilt RTT (regular size, not the XL) and Rolla crossbars from Amazon about 1 1/2 years ago for around $900+$250. Both have gone up slightly but still a good price. Also, Smilttybilt came out with a newer version of my tent now.

    clarification: the dynamic weight limit should be considered in relation not just to the rack limit, but the vehicle roof limit. the vehicle roof limit is typically lower than the rack limit. Even if the rack can carry 200lbs., you should not exceed the car roof weight limit which depending on the vehicle is about 160lbs give or take. Consider even a water container on the roof at about 8lbs. per gallon quickly adds up. too many overlanders pack those racks far exceeding the limits, placing themselves and their occupants in danger while driving.
