Depends on how you prefer your aesthetics. One thing that Alec seems to prefer that I have never cared for is the forge scale that leaves that clear hand made look. I like that Will actually cleaned his up. That being said Alec's is actually really nice I think this one will be a lot closer than the bangle.

In woodworking having the various sized sets for nails and brads etc, you could have them tapered and hollow, with consecutively smaller tips in each piece. Make them thread off each other and it would be an all in 1 tool. I got the idea from your grip.

I don't like that the previous challenge Alec time got reduces because Will did not make full use of his time. So i would like to see either set time limits or a constant of no time but the person that goes first time will be taken for the previous winner to beat.

hey Alec, having worked with coffee for most of my life , I would like to explain how you are not drinking the best coffee that you could. I know this because I could see that you are using pre-ground coffee, which, by definition, means that it is more stale than it should be. (the fact that it is packaged and shipped to you means it is already pretty stale, but ground coffee is worse.) much of the flavor from coffee comes from the volatile gases encapsulated by the coffee bean, not just the oils. when you see the nice creamy, foamy "crema" (the technical term for..), the foam on top of a demitasse of fresh espresso, then you know that coffee is pretty fresh, and freshly ground. This is the reason most good cafe's, like Starbucks, will have a grinder directly attached to the dispenser for the espresso, so that it can be ground fresh, as it is needed. do not get me started on the necessity to fully de-gassify coffee, bean or ground, and so make it Stale, before vacuum packaging.
get yourself an adjustable grinder, use the proper grind for the method used (turkish coffee/ibrik should be baby powder fine, finer than espresso, which should be a fine sand texture that does clump, but still has a gritty feel, turkish should feel smooth, ; drip coffee should be about beach sand texture, with pieces each about a millimeter, more or less; french press should be an even coarser grind, about 2mm pieces; on a 1 to 10 scale, with 1 being the finest possible, and 10 just barely breaking up the beans, Turkish coffee would be 1, espresso ~3, paper/mesh cone drip 5, flat bottom paper/mesh drip ("Mr Coffee") 6, French press 8, and percolator/boiled cowboy coffee 10 (do not use this method unless you grew up in the depression or actually are a cowboy out on the range with no other options, it WILL put hair on your chest and take chrome off of a bumper)
finally, I would like to make a suggestion or 3 about different methods of using your press to prepare your morning brew. A; save your egg shells, clean them off well, let them dry, and then crush them into a powder that you keep in a closed container next to your coffee storage. put a nice healthy pinch, or more if you want, on top of your grounds when you brew, and you will find the shells have absorbed a great deal of the bitterness of the coffee. some folks may claim Chicory has the same effect, but that is not true in my experience. chicory was used in the depression as a coffee substitute/extender, and has become misunderstood, it is actually More bitter than coffee. 2; rather than getting flavored coffee, like hazelnut or vanilla, why not add actual fresh spices to your brew (yes, spices benefit from being freshly ground as much, or more, than coffee does), get yourself a nutmeg grater, like a small rasp-thingy, and grind some nutmeg and/or cinnamon, or what ever strikes your fancy, into the pot before your add the ground coffee, to taste (start SPARINGLY). also; if you use sugar, Stop. get some honey, hopefully unprocessed, from a local apiary (beekeeper), and try different varieties, you may notice that honey can taste surprisingly different when made from different types of flower pollen. sugar is bad for you, while raw honey has health benefits, and this comment is already FAR too long to go into those here. while you are at it, try infusing some honey, not only for coffee, but for cooking too. try drizzling garlic infused honey onto your pizza delivery and voila! gourmet pizza. heck, I bet you start putting garlic honey on Everything! but I digress.
I could go on for quite a bit more regarding coffee, but I think I will wait for replies to see if there is interest.
