Alec Steele Blacksmith 2018 - Розваги
Sleek and modern hole punch
v.s
Dwarven crossbow bolt for killing minor dragons
Gonna have to give it to the crossbow bolt. :)
Also, thanks for making me laugh/snort.
Crossbow Bolt has my vote.
Thank you for the laugh
Lol so true
I would take the modern one, looked clean
Seems about right
Alec, you mean you love your morning routine of: Waking up, banging your shin on your bed, and then making coffee.
😂😂😂😂
LoL, by now he probably sleeps in shin guards... Problem solved 😂
Hey that is a great idea for a project. Forged shin guards.
Would really love an update now that it's been a few months on how his shins are feeling at this point.
Guys, he does have shins of Steele though...
Will is really good at time management and pretending he isn't worried
I honestly think he wasn't worried at all.
Alec is the opposite
I am surprised Will doesn't have his own touch mark. That is something you should remade on the next episode.
Joe R especially if they do colon work. A touch mark on each side.
Pniko they can leave my colon alone...
I think the winner here is Alec. Well done gentlemen. Both look great.
Depends on how you prefer your aesthetics. One thing that Alec seems to prefer that I have never cared for is the forge scale that leaves that clear hand made look. I like that Will actually cleaned his up. That being said Alec's is actually really nice I think this one will be a lot closer than the bangle.
Go check out the poll on Instagram....
Spoilers!
Alec definitely won, it’s like 80% to 20%
@@c-0055 Too be honest, when they said the last poll wasn't close i imagined it to be a lot further off, in my opinion Will also won this one, but in the end Alec is going to have way more fans so this will never be a fair competition.
@koloth I wouldn't say that. I thought Will did a better job last time and apparently so did many other viewers.
See now, i like these challenges...and it looks like there is no real pressure, almost like a couple of average joe's having a fun day in the shop.
Rob Bob That’s a pretty sweet looking burger in your picture. It’s 6am here and I’m now thinking about a hamburger for breakfast
It seems to me like they might be practicing for forged in fire maybe maybe not either way love the content
why have hamburgers when you can have hamberders
I enjoy these challenges as well. But I wish i was an average Joe with all the tools they have! They have some amazing stuff in their shop. I'm very jealous.
Clown Shoes MMA Burgers for breakfast are great. When I was working 3rd it was my favorite thing.
My suggestion for a future challenge: After having watched "Can I Make A Sword In A Day?" I'd love to see both you and Will given 24 hours to make a sword and see who can make the cooler one.
Alec has created a work of art.
Will has created an elegant tool.
why do we need a winner???
Because that's the point of a competition.....
@@KrolPower Not necessarily. A competition might also be brought on to bring the best of the participant's skill to light. Being a winner is often just the byproduct of years of skill development.
Will's looks like a punch you'd buy at a store but Alec' s looks more personalised
Agreed. But, Alec's punch would be one I'd hang in my shop and Will's I would use.
@@williamjeffersonclinton69 Personally, I would probably use Alec's punch. Because it is larger and presents a better grasp and potential lack of hitting your hand when trying to strike the end with a hammer. Should your aim be off.
I’m gonna say Alec won this one on design
Jorden Walter *Alec
*won
Mosdef.
Agree
Jorden Walter will's looks like a nice center punch, but it looks like a nice center punch that I would buy from a store. I wouldn't really know it was hand forged. Alec's is obviously a hand made tool and I feel like that increases the value.
Alec's looks like it was made 200 years ago, Will's like you can buy it at ACE
Well it is the place
Onetrucksizedsalmon I think it’s very helpful as well
Love the obviousness of Will. "Its getting pointy." This man has a way with words
Alec it's beautiful! And as always a gentleman . wonderful watching your channel. And Wills punch looks amazing as well. But Alecs looks like old world craftsmanship.
ALEC: DESIGN AND EXECUTION
WILL: DISCIPLINE AND LEVEL HEADEDNESS
Together, they make a perfect punch.
Missed opportunity: quenched in coffee
Bit of a waste of such a great cup of coffe tho :)
Will's punch is refined and polished, very modern, while Alec's is very rugged and yet has a very artistic flair to it! These competition videos are good fun content!
Who else thought he was gonna quench in the coffee?
He already quenched the war hammer in tea when he was across the pond. Might as well go true ‘Merica with the coffee.
@@bradleykiff5193 I thought the true American way would be to quench it in the harbor?
@@bradleykiff5193 surely the most 'Merica thing to quench in would be kool aid
Yup, looked just like it was going to happen.
@@MannyJazzcats I think you misspelled Coca-Cola
"how's it going will?"
"Good, gettin' pointy!"
Lmao he said it as i saw this comment
probably, wills ist a lot stronger through the future, but Alecs just looks sooooo many levels cooler!
so Alec wins!
There both unique in there own ways so and the only way of comparing is center punching so I say it’s a tie
I agreee
Alec's piece is magnificent!
It exudes *tradition* and *character.* ...really, it does. ...That's not hyperbole!
btw - The Queen called and wants you back. I flatly told her 'no'. When she hung up she was screaming something about seeing me at some 'waterloo' thing. Whatever that is.
He beat you last time but you center punched him in the face this time 😂🤣😂🤣👍🏻 you guys keep it up , would love to see more vids more often 👍🏻
Well, I would actually give this to Alec, but it’s so great to see both of you work! I love how you each are pushing each other to improve and learning from each other, and thank you because it’s been such a pleasure to follow you guys on this journey!
Love Will's analogy, I do the same kind of analogy all the time, conveys the idea pretty clearly without having to go into details.
You guys are awesome, love the channel, keep up the excellent content!
Your description still says "Alec Steele Blacksmith 2018". Just thought you'd like to know. 😁
thats his copyright signature. and date established.
They appear to be effectually the same, but they're so aesthetically different. Will's looks sleek and precise while Alec's looks gritty and hardened. Incredible jobs both of you!
These are great fun! I love the banter - and the end results! Thank you, Will and Alec!
I just found you on UA-cam and have really enjoyed watching. I started my first knife today and from what I have learned from your videos, I got this. Thanks.
I'm gonna have to go with Alec's. Both preformed well but that twist you gave it was pretty awesome
Alec's seems more practical and i would like it in my shop but I would prefer having Will's if I was only showing it off. Love the energy you guys have btw! great work!
Love the handle twist. I’ve seen someone do really aggressive triangular cuts in a similar fashion before twisting to make like a dragon tail design with scales that pop out. Very cool.
I really like these challenge videos! They are freaking awesome. It’s got the suspense, the drama, a lil bit of trash talking!
You should try to make a spear
Yes! A native American spear would be awesome!
I would love to help them make a spear. lol
A boar spear would be cool. And after he is done go on a boar hunt with it.
Or a stylised spear
yeah he should make a "Saufeder". hrhr greetings from germany.
Will for the substance over style win. 👍🏽
Typing this out during the sponsor bit .... I love this new segment/aspect/whatever ya call it of the channel -- somehow makes things feel more light-headed and wholesome
I do love these challenges between you and Will. They are FANTASTIC!! Alec I do need one of your square circle rounding hammer in my life!! Keep up the FANTASTIC work you two!!!
I would use Alex punch around the forge and Will punch on the layout table
I definitely think you took this round Alec!
You guys are very entertaining to watch. I watch a lot of old timers blacksmith channels and they are excellent for learning. You guys are fun to watch. Good editing! Keep up the good work!
Have to say Alec I'm really enjoying seeing you just make things again, the big projects are awesome but the little details that go into these bits are really cool.
As usual, great episode! Also I've used trade coffee ever since they started sponsoring you, try the El Diablo dark roast, it's the best coffee I've ever had, that's what Trade suggested to me. P.S. Alec won this one!
Isn't it worrying though, to be sponsored by a company that bent over to a defamation campaign by The Escapist against Jeremy Hambly? They could pull out of Alec without notice. Definitely the most coward coffee sellers I've seen.
I have the same mask as you! :D Y'all are my inspiration to forge.
Back to tool making, love it. It's what got me watching alec's videos in the first place
I love these competitions! Will and Alec have such great chemistry!!
Make some fishing hooks or arrow heads since your in such an outdoors state
Well I guess I'm going to bed 15 minutes later than usual
Same lol
Riiight
Lmao
16
Lol same
I didn't see the poll on Instagram last time. Won't miss this next one. Killing it guys.
Thank You! For showing that blacksmiths forge more than blades.
I get tired of folks asking me about bladesmithing after I explain I'm an amateur blacksmith.
I love making tools. Rock on young gents.
Why don't just do a pole on youtube here so everyone can directly vote right after the video?
yes true
To get traffic to their Instagram pages.
Pepr fax and I’m not even mad about it
I dont have insta..... not fare
Martin Olson Instagram is one of the biggest social media’s so your just an exception they don’t account for
I'd love to see you guys forge out something like a wrench. I'm interested if a hand forged tool would be better than say, a snap-on wrench
It would be really interesting if they could make a spanner wrench😁
Jason, is there going that far let's see you make a Pulaski
*them* not u, sorry
You both have very different design approaches like material choice, lines, design languages, you two are just completely different people and enjoying it! Keep up the good work boys!
Last one was a land slide for the right side of the pond...this one the land slide reversed. Beautiful punch Alec. I’m liking these gentlemen competitions... keep em coming!
The downside of notification squad...no HD yet!
EDIT: I refreshed its all good!
hard decision. the clean design from will looks more professional. but the design from alec is more ornate/extravagant.
this time, alec won.
Good job Alec keep up the good work. These challenges are fun to watch
You guys are amazing. I'm 60 years old and just getting into blacksmithing. Hope I'm half as good as you two before I'm 70. Keep on smithing.
Alex I gotta say that punch looked narly you got my vote. Sorry Will.
We seem to have gone from feast to famine with the coming of videos.
WHAT! NO VOTING FROM YT! IMHO that comp is a Tie!
fun video thanks gentleman!
We need more of these little comps.
These challenges are super fun! Keep them coming!!
Alec’s looks cooler, but I’d rather own and use Will’s.
Definitely agree with you :)
I Agree
Honestly, alecs looks absolutely stunning but practically, wills is a better size and more useable without getting blisters or calluouses on you fingers.
Id have voted for will. Love a good rubiks twist though
love these challenge videos, fun to see friendly competition and a little forging practice
This gave me a neat idea for a nail set...set. In woodworking having the various sized sets for nails and brads etc, you could have them tapered and hollow, with consecutively smaller tips in each piece. Make them thread off each other and it would be an all in 1 tool. I got the idea from your grip.
“I can start grinding while it’s hot”
(One frame later)
*PEW*
Hello fellow coworker
id like to see an hour as a constant time limit
It takes a lot of video editing just to get 20 minutes. Plus an hour of video takes a lot more than an hour of shooting.
I don't like that the previous challenge Alec time got reduces because Will did not make full use of his time. So i would like to see either set time limits or a constant of no time but the person that goes first time will be taken for the previous winner to beat.
This serie put a smile on my face !
Subscribed because i like craftsmanship, ringed the bell because of the awesome quality.
Inglorious bastards Bowie next!
It's like comparing apples and oranges. Completely different by design but both are awesome. That's a tough one
Bravo! Your show is coming back!
Love your flare and size on this one Alec, great work guy's!
I like Alec's more just because it looks like something a blacksmith actually made, not something just made with stock removal., but Will's does have a nice aesthetic too it as well not knocking that.
it really hard to compare they have such different style, i think both look amazing
Alec wins this round of Steele vs. Will.
Jon Boyd
Will’s looks more comfortable to grip because of the tapering, but Steele’s is visually interesting to look at.
When Grapes Pop you’re not wrong. Maybe Alec’s texture would help with grip though...
Very cool punch Alec! Definitely redeemed yourself with this challenge. The twisted segments almost look like scales or stone. Love it.
Those are both equally beautiful pieces in their own way. Alec's is a grittier homemade look, while Will's is more industrial looking and far sleeker. Love them, these challenges are awesome.
I understand you guys both want to plug your social media. But I really wish you would offer an accessible poll. I would like to weigh in, but don't use social media.
Yes he should make a poll on UA-cam. I don't have Instagram and won't get it simply to vote for this.
Same here.
Agreed!
+1
“I don’t use social media”
He said, on a social media website.
Will! Good job. BTW, nice Flock of Seagulls hair you got going there.
Gorgeous punches, both of you! Well done!
good stuff as always, i never regret clicking a video from you guys... you make a great pair, keep on keepin on boys
I dont understand whats happening but uh its looks awesome ima sub
Check out the viking sword he made. If you time traveled, it would probably let you rule a country or something.
hey Alec, having worked with coffee for most of my life , I would like to explain how you are not drinking the best coffee that you could. I know this because I could see that you are using pre-ground coffee, which, by definition, means that it is more stale than it should be. (the fact that it is packaged and shipped to you means it is already pretty stale, but ground coffee is worse.) much of the flavor from coffee comes from the volatile gases encapsulated by the coffee bean, not just the oils. when you see the nice creamy, foamy "crema" (the technical term for..), the foam on top of a demitasse of fresh espresso, then you know that coffee is pretty fresh, and freshly ground. This is the reason most good cafe's, like Starbucks, will have a grinder directly attached to the dispenser for the espresso, so that it can be ground fresh, as it is needed. do not get me started on the necessity to fully de-gassify coffee, bean or ground, and so make it Stale, before vacuum packaging.
get yourself an adjustable grinder, use the proper grind for the method used (turkish coffee/ibrik should be baby powder fine, finer than espresso, which should be a fine sand texture that does clump, but still has a gritty feel, turkish should feel smooth, ; drip coffee should be about beach sand texture, with pieces each about a millimeter, more or less; french press should be an even coarser grind, about 2mm pieces; on a 1 to 10 scale, with 1 being the finest possible, and 10 just barely breaking up the beans, Turkish coffee would be 1, espresso ~3, paper/mesh cone drip 5, flat bottom paper/mesh drip ("Mr Coffee") 6, French press 8, and percolator/boiled cowboy coffee 10 (do not use this method unless you grew up in the depression or actually are a cowboy out on the range with no other options, it WILL put hair on your chest and take chrome off of a bumper)
finally, I would like to make a suggestion or 3 about different methods of using your press to prepare your morning brew. A; save your egg shells, clean them off well, let them dry, and then crush them into a powder that you keep in a closed container next to your coffee storage. put a nice healthy pinch, or more if you want, on top of your grounds when you brew, and you will find the shells have absorbed a great deal of the bitterness of the coffee. some folks may claim Chicory has the same effect, but that is not true in my experience. chicory was used in the depression as a coffee substitute/extender, and has become misunderstood, it is actually More bitter than coffee. 2; rather than getting flavored coffee, like hazelnut or vanilla, why not add actual fresh spices to your brew (yes, spices benefit from being freshly ground as much, or more, than coffee does), get yourself a nutmeg grater, like a small rasp-thingy, and grind some nutmeg and/or cinnamon, or what ever strikes your fancy, into the pot before your add the ground coffee, to taste (start SPARINGLY). also; if you use sugar, Stop. get some honey, hopefully unprocessed, from a local apiary (beekeeper), and try different varieties, you may notice that honey can taste surprisingly different when made from different types of flower pollen. sugar is bad for you, while raw honey has health benefits, and this comment is already FAR too long to go into those here. while you are at it, try infusing some honey, not only for coffee, but for cooking too. try drizzling garlic infused honey onto your pizza delivery and voila! gourmet pizza. heck, I bet you start putting garlic honey on Everything! but I digress.
I could go on for quite a bit more regarding coffee, but I think I will wait for replies to see if there is interest.
take as much care in perfecting the craft of feeding yourself as you do with your crafting career, no matter what the career, you have to eat
if you read this far, thank you, I hope it helps
keep making the good episodes, I will keep watching, be well
Thanks for the tips. I'll be looking out for a variable coffee grinder.

Alec! I'm pretty excited to see what kind of Smith you become in your 30s and 40s. You do some awesome work and I love watching you work with your employees. You are an awesome leader. That's a skill that is lost on our generation.
Alec, your curiosity has inspired me to embrace my own. Back in January I started school for applied science in mechanical engineering. Just finished my first project. Using the mill and lathe, I made a C-Clamp 💯%! Thanks for the inspiration.😉
How about this challenge: Finish the damn Calvary Saber!
@MouthfulOfSpiders ...Lol!...No kidding!??!
he said on Instagram hey are getting new equipment to make it a smoother process
@@superduckybro ...Thanks...
@Ryan Hughes He's talking about the first part as Will Vs Alec, the one they mentioned at the beginning of this vid. It was good, you should watch it.
@Ryan Hughes Part one was competing to see who made the best bracelet!
If I could name one person who seems like they drink coffee it would be alec lol
I never fastforward through your sponsor info. You know how to do it right!
This is a great idea. You guys should keep doing this competition and polls
No update on the sword? I am sure you all will finish it.........
i;'m here because Neebs gaming talked about your channel.. i like it so far! awesome work!
New to the Channel. You guys have some amazing equipment! I also love the smithing skills. great work
دائما مبدعون لان تتوفر لديكم الامكانيات والمكان الذي تعملون فيه تحيه لكم ولاعمالكم الحسنه
Not sure if you saw my IG message but the Steele vs stelter sounds so much nicer. Glad to see it on the title.
I like Alec's this time as it can double as a medievil club for midgets. I give it extra points for its versatility. Sorry Will.
This versus idea is fantastic!
Both functional and pleasing to the eye. A fun competition to watch as well.
Alec clearly won that competition, but Will definetly had the better performance in the video xD
nah, Alec's methods are morr advanced. even in the last challenge. alec is way ahead of will in his profession.
Alec is more decorative, Will is more functional..overall....Tie.......Both are Great !!!!!!
I really like the punch you made Alec! I might make a similar one.
I love the difference in personality between you two. Allec energetically running around and Will strolling with his coffee.
