Alec Steele Blacksmith 2019 - Розваги
Alec: *mercilessly destroys fruit and stuff*
Will: *cuts some onions* I need this for my kitchen
Ewan Wilson makes sense. He makes a lotta knives for chefs
Said it before and I'll say it again, Will has so much comedy gold.
Not sure I like the food wastage, but the quality of the videos does offset this big-time.
Gavin Trafford green onion, chives, they have many names my friend.
@@ewanwilson1974 probably depends where you're from. In Australia those are called spring onions. Chives are much skinnier things
Idea: make a beautiful ornate damascus fire axe to present to the local fire dept to display in the firehouse?
Shane Saffel the “fire axe” is actually called a Pulaski.
Shane Saffel good idea though. glad someone thinks of structural departments still. I personally prefer hanging to hike to a fire line.
Full transparency... I'm a civilian, but I was raised to have respect for military, police, fire, ems, and all other forms of first responders. I was, for a while, a member of our county emergency management agency. And also part of the search and rescue team. I miss the days when the public admired and appreciated men and women in uniform. Now it seems like they have the most thankless and under-appreciated jobs in the world. I just want to see that bridge rebuilt. And as a new citizen and resident of that area (and a fire prone business) it would be a nice way to say "hey, nice to meet you, thank you for what you do!".
Shane Saffel well, hey. I’m a Wildland firefighter in the employ of Cal Fire. All I was saying is that thanks for the suggestion. I wish he would make a wildland Pulaski though. I would bid on it for my crews base!
s vernon a Pulaski is a axe with some form of tool on the ass flat. So it could be a hoe or a spike. It’s the concept that’s a Pulaski, not the individual tool
Alec: Makes something in a single video.
Me: Wait, that's illegal.
INSANE!
UK?
Hold up
Engraving starts tomorrow xD
British pirate thats in America building a French axe
*Mr. Worldwide*
If the President only knew... ;-)
Wait... that’s somehow accurate and I love it
US revolution all over again
No disrespect or offense intended, but I would have used the (!?!) @ the end of your sentence. And Yes, Apparently I'm a grammar Nazi like my Grandmother before me(obviously a Star Wars reference).
How is the blade so thin tho? Won't it break?
Oh MAN I've missed these single video projects. This also confirms my plan to just use my hammer eye drift to make my first hatchet/hawk/axe/whatever it ends up being.
Curiosity Forge I was about to say the same thing about the single videos. It’s great he’s growing business wise and in knowledge, but sometimes I miss the old days.
Not wrong mate, I much prefer the single episode format. My hexhawks are all hammer eye!
6:34 looks like Alec got a little close to the forge and cooked his hair.
Thats what I saw :)
I thought it might have been frozen sweat
Yeah, that's exactly what I thought
I was wondering what was in his hair
Some people actually pay money in Japan to get their hair treated like that... they call it a new way of cutting your hair
I love seeing the elaborate detailed projects being made, but there's a special place in my heart for these builds of crude (by comparison) utilitarian projects.
6:25 "I'm gunna be alternating from drifting open the cheeks to forging down the spike" - Alec Steele 2019
dan bowes - favorite comment
I thought you only drifted cheeks in prison
Ehhh that was a stretch.
Still say there needs to be a Steele vs. Stelter making goedendags. That way you can say "good day" to each other.
Goedendags? Nederlands toevallig
@@samdv562 Volgens mij kwamen die dingen uit Vlaanderen.
Allemaal nederlandse volgers 🤣
@@samdv562 Da's VLAAMS!
Jordy V. vlaams is gewoon tweedehands nederlands
I am so glad Will is part of this channel lol love his commentary
What a pair of dorks. I love it. Never Change Alec and Will.
I love hearing about the history of the projects! It makes it so interesting to see the process of them being made. Super cool, as always :)
The main reason you needed an axe was to cut boarding lines thrown onto your ship, or cut through nets keep you off the other ship!
"Need one for my kitchen." LOL...make an ulu, an Eskimo knife.
They're beautiful knives in addition to being very useful.
Steele v stelter
LOVING the editing aesthetics of this video, especially the vibe behind the music choice!
Yeah that an amazing work, I'm a French blacksmith-beginner (for 2y) and it's fantastic to see you work and learn by looking what you do
Man everyone is just killing it in this.
Every video is fun to watch, but the editing in this was just a real treat.
Will's hand-chop was perfect.
Finally one of those old school looking single episode project! Love the editing! 👌
Agreed
It is a genuine pleasure to watch you gentlemen and your craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing it with us.
The scallion cutting KILLED me. Loved this project!! hit right at home as someone who is a fan of everything to do with Man of Wars
Nothing like an old school little forging project by the one and only.
I really missed the good old forging videos of just making something out of steel =D Class video =)
HOLY CRAP!!! It's so nice to see and hear some description and education crammed into the video it reminds me of the old days and why I started watching Alec Steele in the first place.
Smithing instruction, historical tidbits, and a giveaway on a one vid build?! Perfection, keep it up!
They need to have a playlist of all of the things they make that are illegal in the UK.
Pretty much any bladed weapon is considered illegal in that place. They even want to take the kitchen knives. No wonder he moved here!
@@dannyarrowheadstalker3054 It is illegal carry a knife in public without good reason, unless it has a folding blade with a cutting edge 3 inches long or less (i.e. carrying a small penknife is fine, taking a knife to and from work if you need it is fine).
Illegal to carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife. (you can OWN them, just not take them out in public.)
no one is taking away kitchen knives, axes etc...
That's actually a rather short list.
@@njones420 Wasn't there a Muslim that decapitated a soldier over there? If they don't "follow the law" why should anyone else? A 3in blade won't do you much good when a machete is being used against you!
@@njones420 This is why women like you shouldn't vote.
I'm loving the returns of these one day challenges, wishing for it to continue!!!
That handle is delightfully uncomplicated, Will did a good job on it.
Love seeing the little giant run. My grandfather had a buisness of rebuilding them. Good memories. Keep up the good work!
Gentlemen! Whilst I absolutely enjoy your multi-part, sometimes ridiculously long, versions of a build to Immaculate standards, which are Fantabulous! I also find the shorter one day builds, less refined, to be equally as enjoyable.
As always, keep forging on!😉 (and yes pun intended)!
I'm really liking these one episode projects.
I love how it looks like the steel melts like butter when you fast forward powerhammer shots!
Will murdered those green onions with such grace. Everybody needs a boarding axe for their culinary needs.
Naval axe is going to look awesome! ... 👀 the video...and as usual not disappointed...great work Alec and Will! 👍
The googly eyes on the power hammer is killing me... So funny!!
I so love these quick build videos!! way better than 7 of 9 episodes on the hilt or gem setting. LOVE IT
Two things... you two have great chemistry, and I still think whoever does your editing does AMAZING!! Also... that is one badass axe!!
That's 3 things
Patrick Hoffmann I’m glad you can count
Love the music and editing on this one.
Definitely agree
70's porn music!
Agree
I was thinking it had a little western feeling to it. Could see Clint riding through some scrub in the desert!
That seriously was a phenomenal video. Editing was amazing, went back to having a striker which I love, and the music suited it incredibly well. Lovin it
Beautiful work guys. Such an entertaining video and Jamie nailed it with his editing, as usual. Followed the new instagram and the picture of Will with the puppy was just precious. Thanks for the awesome journey and allowing us to follow along with you. Have a beautiful day guys.
Okay, Will cutting green onions is now the funniest moment on this channel, dethroning the “also known as the correct way” comment from his very first appearance with Alec. 😀
Aweesome Axe !!!
You are awesome i’m a mexican sub
Do you throw axes? Or just knives?
Ok
We just loved the spring onions.
Good to see y’all forging and putting the little giant to work!
No matter how pretty swords are, there is something that I love about the brutality, simplicity and utility of an axe. This extremely novice want to be blacksmith would love to learn how to make all kinds of axes from throwing tomahawks on up. Thanks for sharing this one Alec and Will. I am sure it is nice to work on smaller fun projects that don't take 20 parts, even though the cane sword one was short, but done over multiple days that was turned into only 4.
And you made that axe in 16 minutes and 48 seconds that is crazy
Will you little Scallion, I wasn’t expecting that 😆
I love that Alec Steel actually takes safety seriously 11:15
Alec and Will - I love how you have returned with some good forging videos again including talking through your steps. It’s what made me subscribe a couple years ago, and I’m pumped to see this type of content return.
You guys are awesome!
Alex can you do a talk on the fluxes and when you would use them also maybe something about the chemistry thanks
I’d like to see a cooking show where Will uses all the things they have forged instead of conventional kitchenware
I enjoyed wills history on the axe. Nice knowing where theses tools came from
Loved the history portion of the project. Editing was awesome!
I feel like Alec and will are slowly looking more and more alike
aren't they the same person except cloned???
9 minutes after it’s posted.... I finally get to see a video fresh off the press lol
Great edit! I'm enjoying the inclusion of some one-shot episodes in the midst of your longer projects.
Loved the forged look, thankyou for continuing to teach and inspire. I am surprised to didnt get the urge to throw the axe at something.
Hey, Will! What you want for your kitchen is a Mezzaluna. A curved, two-handled Italian (?) kitchen knife.
Please thumbs up so Will might see this.
It's weird watching the old videos and seeing how much of a perfectionist Alec was to where at least to me it seems more like it's become good enough.
I think before he never had the tools to allow for a close to perfect from first attempts. He'd have to go back and do more because mistakes were made. I think the tools he has now help alot to allow him to get a near perfect finish first time
I think it depends on the project. Fun little projects like this are done quick so that we aren’t getting 30 part projects for a while.
I don’t always want to watch 17 episodes of inlaying and error correction.
Well his skills have improved in the bladesmithing field as well as his engraving, inlay, and jewelry making. Not to mention the improved workshop and tools available to make his craftsmanship easier and faster to produce. Notice his art pieces still take a month or more to produce with two bladesmiths working on the project. Fun projects like this are just that... For fun. Something to entertain us and them. I really believe his attention to detail and perfectionism show in the art pieces.
I love it, you both are awesome to learn from. Fantastic day for watching the workshop.
Love watching these videos. I know nothing about forging but the whole process is amazing. Can’t believe the steps. Great job. I mean attack the enemy and crop vegetables. QVC would sell a million of them. 👍👍
You should do a poleaxe or halberd or something along those lines 🤔
We should do a collaboration! We are in the same town
Drew Lininger you’ve got some actually great content
See if they'll take you as an apprentice
Drew Lininger subbed to ya. Always gotta check out the small channels, that's how they get big!
Cool stuff, bruv. I dig the music you use too. Subscribed.
Just go hang out at ace and wait
You guys simply are having way too much fun and I love it.
That axe looks awesome! I also loved the power hammering that never made contact with the piece! That was some nice video trickery
"welcome back to the workshop it is Brilliant to have you here" - and lets thank todays sponsor which is Brillian... oh...
I followed that Instagram account faster than Will chopping those onions.
same. im a sucker for free stuff
Props to the editors on this one!!!
Alec, you should do a series on pioneer tools that would have been used to build a cabin or by a pioneer/homesteader. High carbon insert axe, hatchet, broad axe, pickaxe, draw knife, etc....
Please make a collab with Matt and Ilya from the channel "That works"!!! They were the smiths behind the channel " Man at arms: reforged" (which sadly is disbanded now).
1:36 That was a cool transition
9:58 that one was way better
Must say your video and photo work has improved quite a bit lately ... whoever is doing this, thumbs up!!
Great video! Raw blacksmithing at its finest!
Y'all need to do more one day forges. That way we(the viewers) Get to see more vids.
Dudes, move the car when trying out a heavy weapon such as an axe. If that thing slips out it's straight through the car's window.
Love the axe
I love how informational this video is you guys should do more of that
Exciting, the shop now has some of the supplies listed just inventory out till its live. I feel like they are getting very close to being open for business. Looking forward to seeing the price points on the grinders.
I have to axe this question:
Who else was mesmerized from them testing out that axe?
First
🥳🥳
bruh
no
LOL
Nice one
Incredible video! I watch all of yours but this one was great. Felt like one of your older ones with all the fun forging
Hey Alec can you make a draw knife!!!!
Useful!
I believe he did way back... Maybe 2+ years ago?
Hahaha You must have burned your hair: D You make beautiful equipment, gentlemen. Great video finally the hammers are moving!
I love the big, highly involved projects, but it's really nice that you guys are doing some quick one video start to finish jobs too. It's nice to have the entire video focused on creation, and building.
I didn't know that was the grandfather to the fire axe. You learn something new every day.
Did you burn your hair 🤣🤣🤣 love the vid
Will: Then you forge weld the taco
Awesome build Alec and Will. But come on Jamie knocked out of the park on the editing!!!
If Will likes the axe as a kitchen tool, maybe you might consider forging an ulu. It's a cresent shaped knife designed for chopping.
Me: *sees the thumbnail*
My Thor sense: *clicks the video*
Me: *happiness noises*
Did will ever get the pieces he needed for the 25lbs mechanical hammer
At some stage, they have used it a couple of times in the past, on videos. And I'm pretty sure from the sound that the powerhammer with the curved blocks Alec used on the blade was Will's.
I love that boarding axe. It was also used to cut the rigging ropes on ships. I would love to win this piece.
Great job editor on the music! I’m never disappointed
I love seeing these one-part forged weapons! Much more interesting than seeing Alec mill a pommel for a whole episode in my opinion.

Balanced as everything should be
Will with the precise onion chopping skillz. Props.
I really enjoy the items that you make in one video. That axe looks awesome.
Great project and video, and I appreciate the added history of the axe!
Music and editing are on point in this episode. Kudos to whomever is putting in the work.
If you made those, I'd gladly buy one. I love the rustic look yet totally practical.
Looking forward to seeing more videos of that warehouse next door. I'm sure lots of blood, grit and jolly good fun is going into it.
Alec loved the sparkly hair! You guys are awesome. Love the video and the project.
