Also in The Netherlands it is called a catapult. A slingshot ( we call it a slinger) is something else. A slingshot has no wood or iron midpeace. It is just a leather band wit a wider peace of leather in the middle. You put a round stone in it and wield it round above your had an then release one Side of the leather band. More difficult to master but very effectieve. A slinger was widely used in the early Ages Where there was no rubber available.
By the basic function of a catapult (energy stored for use) versus an actual sling (energy imparted just before release) the correct term is catapult. But America always goes it's own way, which is why Football is a full contact sport. :-)

I really liked Will's sickle slingshot, regardless of accuracy it looks cool, and it's a novel solution to a complex problem. Good on yah Will 👍
Wow really great! Never thought about forging one. I mean I have already casted one out of copper and one out of aluminium. My favourit, however, is still prefer my arm braced wooden starship one, which was a hell of a work.
Great to see people who really know what they're doing having to think on their feet. Well done!
Very humble Alec, Will was seriously wounded in such a massive defeat. You could have really rubbed it in but showed him Great British Humility.
That was the funniest NO I’ve ever heard “do we still give people a chance to vote?” “Nooo” lol
