Its time for an oil change on the chevrolet suburban. I wanted to make a video showing how to change the oil on the chevy suburban. This method will also work on chevy tahoe, gmc yukon and gmc denali. I like to change the oil about every 5000 miles with this oil and filter combo. The 5.3 in these are great motors and are easy to change the oil on. I also talk about where to jack or left the vehicle to do an oil change if you are not using a lift. I also show you how to reset the oil life. Let me know what oil is your go to and why.

Recently lowered my 08 Escalade, and changed the oil right before I did that. Jacking it up for an oil change instead of simply driving it up some ramps seems like too much extra work when it's real cold outside. I am pretty glad I decided to buy the low profile long reach floor jack from Harbor Freight a year or two ago. Should make life a little easier
I have one of those too and it is a good jack for stuff like this.
Nice lift and the garage 👌🏻
Thank you
Wix Filters # 1 and Good Oil is the way to go ! 95 Sonoma 4.3 with 432,000 miles my daily driver .

You're welcome
I loved it 🎉
Thank you
You ever check out Fumoto drain plug valves? I have a 24V Cummins and Dodge made the drain plug flush with the oil pan in the center. Use the square 3/8 ratchet drive to loosen and tighten. Insane mess every time. Bought the Fumoto and it's soooo easy. Worth every penny on my diesel. Not sure if you've heard of that or are interested.
I have seen them but never used one.
Watched three of these suburban oil change videos that were horrible quality. Really wished I found this one first, great filming, angles, lighting and quality. I changed my oil and came back to youtube to see this as recommended lol
Thank you. I appreciate that
Looks easy.
It is

Thank you for watching
How many miles (or months) is the "oil life" display calibrated to? Can that be changed, say, if one is running full synthetic vs. std. 5W30? (5,000 miles vs. 3000 miles.)
Its based off temp, miles, rpm. Not mileage based
Do you have a video on dropping obs
On the 2 door tahoe I had which is the same for the most part
Should I buy a whole new plug for the drain bolt? Or just that gasket?
Gm ones generally have the gasket in them.
Hi , Travis .. Is true that old engine like Chevy suburban 2009 with more than 200 thousand miles we should USE an oil rated 20/50 instead of 5/30 especially in hot areas?!
I never use that thick of oil.
I have a gmt800 truck and after every oil change I put my gas down and turn over the motor (puts it in flood mode so its cuts fuel) so it serculates oil through out so it doesnt dry start
Very good idea. Thanks for that information
@@TWAMotorsports anytime bud!
I always used that same oil in my stuff and recently my main mechanic said that it wasn’t recommended for my Tahoe and to just use conventional oil. My Tahoe is an 07, he said he thought it was 2011 or newer or somewhere around there that they recommended the synthetic oil. I was having oil leaks and he though they may be worse because of the thinner oil I was using. My Tahoe is the 5.3 with 177K miles on it. Any insight on this? I also burn a decent amount of oil between changes one reason I opted to try the cheaper stuff since I’m burning a quart or up to 2.5 in some months between changes. Stupid AFM.
Yes if you have leaks synthetic oil will find a way out. I deleted my afm/dod
Your burning that oil,,, because of the damage done by the AFM system.
This excess burning will not end, until you replace cam, lifters, and mechanically delete that afm system.
You can software delete it,,,, but the damage is already done inside your engine.
@@MrDavez yep. I hate AFM. Mines still active because I do t really see the point now. It has 178k Miles. I got it with 121k has burned a a quart every 2,500 miles since I’ve owned it. Recently replaced a clogged cat because of it. Oh well. I’ll keep chugging her down the road. Still runs and looks great.
I tend to agree
Drive it until it breaks
Is this process the same on a 2007 GMC Yukon?
It is
@@TWAMotorsports Cool 👍🏾
How can I get one of your decals
Email me. Link in Video description
I want a lift so bad lol
They are nice for stuff like this
What size filter wrench?
Universal gm
Am thinking of getting a suburban what years is that?
2011
👍
My screws are rusting under the hood what does this mean..
Wet environment I guess
How about the engine light pop out
?
OILFILTER WHY YOU DON'T USE THE AC DELCO
Because they are plastic inside now
Poke hole in bottom of oil filter,, once you verify it moves, and is NOT stuck on block, because of some gorilla handed lube tech,, then put plastic grocery bag over filter,, spin off and catch in bag,,, most of the mess and the filter. ;)
So you generally put the oil bolt and the oil filter on way too tight lol..
Snug
Did 31k people not know how to change oil on a chevy v8?
Maybe not
