Much tougher, more reliable, and in my opinion better looking. The 08 was nicer with some more creature comforts but the only thing you'll find that's tougher than an 00-06 Chevy or GMC is gonna be a Toyota, Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia, 4Runner etc. Maybe only marginally better but still better. I keep my engines tuned and I'll ask my Master Mechanic in Mexico if he can tweak the system, but I think 16 mpg is about par for the course. Often, I have driven long distance in Mexico and some say their gas is not as good, but I don't erally experience anything different. Maybe an improved intake, but I'll discuss this with my mechanic. Glad to see Scotty finally endorse a Tahoe. I have been running our 4 wheel drive 2012 for over 7 years now without any issues. It has 124k miles on the 5.3 cu in. It has no rust, no sunroof, and I have no interest in ever replacing it with a newer one. BTW, my wife drives her dad's 06 Camry, also a great car. I do the oil changes on all our vehicles, 2012 Tahoe, 2007 Camry and my much loved 1996 Ford F150 in-line 6.

What I like about it is the simple technology and the huge support information you can find on youtube. Any problem? You will find a helpful video helping to fix it. I do maintenance myself (very easy), also small repairs and only take it into an independent mechanic (sorry Scotty) when something is that requires special tools or skills. I have 123 000 miles on it, 100 000 are from me. Only larger problem I had was wheel bearings and brake calipers.

It currently has 192,000. Last week we took it on a 8 hr trip. It runs like a sewing machine & got 18mpg, which I was pleased with for what it is & the mileage. I have always used quality oil & filter. It doesn't leak a drop of anything & only uses half qt of oil in between changes. I don't like the VVT or the cylinder deactivation. If I am driving 60mph or less I always use manual mode & only let it go to 5th gear... this keeps it from continuously going from V8 to V4 to V8. With the high miles The valve train still doesn't have any clatter at all. Everything is factory original. Been a great vehicle for us !!!

2011 tahoe owner here. Love her. Only issue is the cracked dash molding.

My dad's 2007 chevy duramax did the same thing. He ducktaped it with black tape and now it doesn't squeak 😅

Got at 2009 Tahoe only 135K, runs like a dream as well, paid off feels even better. Fully loaded so I'm planning on keeping it until it dies.

    I have a 2004 Tahoe LT.
So easy to work on. I have invested around 5,000 on replacing and upgrading parts.
Gas isn't the best but for a paid off car I don't care.

I have a 2008 Cadillac Escalade and I love it , the only thing I don’t like it’s miner but is the inside locks they sometimes don’t want to unlock or lock by itself
