      @dannywithnuggets 2 роки тому +8

      @@Joecool20147 Yeah from Couch's perspective at least. Heath Pedigo has been busy renovating a new BJJ gym atm so that's taking all his time, its Heath that takes his students around America competing so with him out of action; there's not much happening right now.

      @@KimuraCountry IMO it’s really a over reaction and over correction deal.
      Having 2 guys as good as Couch and Wiltse come out of a shed in the middle of no where, is amazing and worth a vlog series I think.
      However people got used to how fast the brand was growing, that they began to expect it. Like for a bit there it seemed like they were growing world class (ish) competitors at a rate of one a year which wasn’t gonna continue.
      And from that DF peak, you’d have guessed given the two trials that either Wiltse or Couch would have certainly made it.
      Which didn’t happen, one didn’t compete the other never made the trials finals.
      But if you look at the story from the beginning I think it’s still amazing, and we shouldn’t look at it negatively because we thought it was going to go a little further then it did.

    Pretty awesome display both men put on. Always love when a younger athlete show's the dominant athlete respect but isn't afraid to throw their best effort at the idol. I just realized @10:00 with just the lock up of the Kimura grip, Couch was about to tap. He lost mentally which explains the eventual early tap from armbar.

      He actually tapped, then because Gordon didn’t respond and he’s a friend and disciple of Gordon’s, he realized Gordon wasn’t going to hurt him, just use him to show his game.

    If prime Khabib fought GR in a mixed grappling match who would win?
    Say at 170- 175lbs?

      Wdum mixed grappling match? Lile mixed in with what. Pure grappling match khabib gets bodied, low effort. People forget a 20 year old khabib (who at that point had become combat sambo champ , so was not just a "kid" as people say) lost to a russian bjj blackbelt on points (nogi). Even by khabib's own admission ,his method of advancing positions heavily relies on his ability to punch from top. Take away that and aside from having an oppressive top game he's not on the level of these pure grapplers. Now if MMA is the question it's very different, khabib wins 60-80% of the time unless gord secretly has good striking But even then 30lbs is quite the difference.

      @@nathantheophilus4856 I guess any grappling without striking so a mix of wrestling, Judo. Sambo, BJJ...but still trying to get the sub. I'd say Prime Khabib was the Khabib that beat Gaethje. Like I said I'm a long time MMA fan but i love watching pure BJJ.I guess im just wondering IS there a rule set or comp that incorporates all types of grappling?

    • @nathantheophilus4856

      @@TyrantOFynder bjj allows everything those rulesets allowed. The only problem is point system. Thats where these sports differ, and putting the point system tigether is contradictory. So the closest thing to the "free"est is sub only no time limit match. Which, i still have Gord winning. Khabib can beat a lot of grapplers in grappling. Not GR.

    • @TyrantOFynder

      @@nathantheophilus4856 When I first started watching bjj I couldn't comprehend why a fighter would just sit down and give up top position. I know about pulling guard and having a nasty bottom game but In MMA ur trying in 99% of cases trying to avoid being on bottom. Don't get me wrong iv seen some sick finishes from the deck....but to voluntarily give it up was hard to wrap my brain around.

    • @nathantheophilus4856
      @nathantheophilus4856 2 роки тому

      @@TyrantOFynder meh.. rules organize how a sport is played. Why would a boxer spend 12 rounds in brain damage punching range when in multiple occassions in a round one can just clinch the other dude and minimize damage, then if they so wish to, Dump them on the floor or suplex them? Or conversely, its why when boxers get hugged they do nothing about it, and ask another grown man ( a ref) to separate them when there are multiple clinch techniques available in muay thai and etc. Why would wrestlers have such a low stance with their head on the chest or hip level, parked up in front being the closest thing for the opponent to reach, so easy to punch and even soccer kick. Everything within the context of the sport taken out of the sport's context then re-inserted into an MMA or "no holds barred" context will always be silly one way or the other.
