Yeah, people who rip submissions are either those who’re quite poor human beings and/or who’re so insecure with their Jiu Jitsu, Gordon Ryan so confident with his technical ability he’s fine for them to try and escape

the way gordon was looking for josh’s reaction while putting pressure on the submission it’s so impressive! he cared about not injuring him. he could have easily went 110% mode and brake him in a sec! what a guy! 👑
Most people actually do, so you don't pretend Gordon ryan is some demi-god of morality to achieve such a feat. Especially as a public figure that cares a lot about his image.
He probably is going around 40-50%, until it’s time to hammer it up to 100% I try to remember that in my rolls, but that strategy is usually out the window in the first 45 seconds😂
I think you can only afford doing that if you're really technical in various positions. If you go with the flow at 40% and end up in a position you're unfamiliar/uncomfortable with, you perhaps will need to use just as much strength to get out of it as you would have used going at 80-100% beforehands
Lets not forgett Josh Saunders started BJJ-No-Gi only ~ 4 years ago . His biggest achievement so far was winning ADCC Trials in Sidney . Yeha he is good and yes he has potential but Gordon Ryan is on a whole other level being at the top of the sport for longer than Sauners has even been doing Jiu JItsu
@@TopFearless That's it. I can't afford to go 40% or I will end up in real bad positions if I'm against someone of my level or above. But, this is a good training strategy against someone a little less skillful. You will end up eventually in bad places, but in a way you can manage to scape.
@TopFearless You're right, but you also have to be very strong. Or have enough strength in reserve to negate the opponent's. You can be the most technical person out there, but if you fight someone with a significant strength advantage who knows just enough to not get immediately submitted, you're in trouble. Gordon is super technical but he definitely has the strength in reserve to match all his opponents so far.
Josh looks relaxed and so does Gordon, I was really excited about this match. But these athletes perform at a high level so it’s nice to see what techniques they used here.
I think Josh looked relaxed because he was not in a position to be explosive for much of the match. Being on bottom, he was more or less framing for his life and Gordon was doing the wet-blanket waiting for openings. Even at the end, Josh's legs were expertly tied up to limit escapes.
Gordon is the biggest c*ckwomble on the planet off the mat but even the biggest GR hater has so to say he’s nothing but a consummate professional on the mats.

He looked awful to me. Just big and powerful. His technique is like maybe blue belt. Not impressed. His size and strength was the only hurdle Gordon had to clear.
