  • At this time of the year, many of us are starting to question the New Year’s resolutions that we made only a few short months ago.
So, today, I want to offer an alternative perspective on getting more from life. I want to talk about how becoming more ourselves is more important than becoming someone or something else.
Personally, I think that this message has a lot of power and I hope that you will join us for a chat.
Come join us for a cup of tea (or coffee) and a chat. And, if you enjoy the show, please tell one friend about us today. Your support means so much to me!
What are you doing to get more in touch with your authentic self? Are you pursuing your passions? Doubling down on the relationships that are most important to you? Loving your body through yoga or sport?
    Let's have a chat!
Please join the conversation and tell one other woman about Sixty and Me today. The more the merrier!

I really do at 77 feel that I am enough. When I was younger I always felt I should have done more with my life.

I've been watching sixty and me for awhile now and I've never commented before. I just wanted to say that I appreciate you and I learn a lot from each video:) I love tea's too and mugs and have a collection of them. I think that's a nice way of starting out your videos. I remember the video when you showed some rocks you painted and had some idea's for gifts. That video was very helpful for people on a budget but still want to buy or make a nice gift. I love all your videos! Thanks for sixty and me:)

In my experiences wholeheartedness goes hand in hand with being sensitive. Because of this, when I go in to something wholeheartedly I sometimes end up getting burned, hurt, or disillusioned. And so it's easy to sometimes think, "I'm just not going to care so much anymore." But that's not very healthy. And so I have to pick myself up and have the courage to try again.

+J James - interesting that you say you feel or felt that being overly sensitive (or wholeheartedness) has caused you problems... I thought I was the only one on planet earth that suffered from being-overly-sensitive to most situations involving my relationships with people... I've always felt this personality flaw ruined my life. But, first I had to realize the problem, then begin to address it and change, but I usually go-over-board the other way and not care at all or as much, which isn't healthy... oh well I've always felt I'm a work in progress.

So healing for me to know that I’m not the only woman that does this.

I have discovered in my 60s that happiness = peace of mind. Yes, to detachment to drama.

Still working on my confidence. It is a work in progress and it's growing as I do more things that give me joy and are stimulating and having more and more of my own space to draw, journal, meditate and get enough rest, and speaking my mind more in a kind but serious way .

Just what I needed to hear today. I would like to be just like you say but it’s so hard to break old patterns of thinking. So deeply imbedded in my fibers. Lol. But like you sad, it’s a process. I’m growing out my beautiful gray hair for starters. I’m enjoying the process. I’m learning a lot about myself and others as well. I’m going to listen to this again.

Thank you again for all you do. I am still working on myself and your tips are very helpful. After great losses in 2017 I am looking forward to 2018 being a great year. I seek joy, and thank God for finding it.

Hello, beautiful Margaret! It is certainly cold here in the woods of VA, but no snow. i must say that you look extra lovely today, dear! Your hairstyle is very flattering and purple looks so beautiful on you. The necklace also pops with vibrancy. Thanks so much for all you do, you are always such a positive presence here on UA-cam! Have a wonderful weekend filled with every good thing! xox ETA: i am very intrigued with the beautiful painting of the woman on the right side of the video. May i ask who painted it?

That is such an embracing necklace! All of your necklaces are, and I love how you have made the necklace a statement of your approach to life, reflecting your shining inner self. I also wish I could get my sparkle-loving hands on such a necklace! Also saw a turquoise one you wore in another video today (in this insomniac night!) and thought how marvelous it would be to have one just like it! Don't worry. I wear my own statement necklaces, sometimes adding to ones I've bought at charity shops, just aI change the charity clothes I love to buy with my own decorations, textile painting, adding bits or taking away other bits. Just doing what I want. So your necklace is safe with me---I don't envy or covet, I just think, wow, I'd like to find something like that! I love the ones you make too, and would certainly buy one. Do you have an Etsy store? It would be a marvelous addition to my massive collection of necklaces, a few of your little beauties hanging on my wall with their new friends. For me, it is not materialistic and it is not at all about being valuable (most were charity shop finds), it's an art piece all of them hanging in my bedroom, bright, glimmering, colourful. You are so inspiring. Shine on.

That spellcheck, or spellwreck as I call it, changed my enchanting necklace to embracing, but I guess it is sort of embracing too, in a loving sort of way, all of that shimmer and shine from the heart.

Love all your videos Margaret, but this may be one of my favorites. I've always made resolutions only to be down on myself within a week, I like the thought of positive intention instead. (I need one of those T shirts!) I've never consciously thought I'll only do this half hearted, but if I'm totally honest, there wasn't a whole hearted intent either. Thanks so much!

Thanks for your comment. It's always rewarding to know that when we write articles for Sixty and Me, they do create this type of response. Good for you for taking the message to heart and seeing change you can make. Go for it!

Hi Margret, I'd like to know about the portrait behind you on the table near the couch. It is a woman's head. I'd really like to know who painted it if you know. I really like portraits that are a little abstract like that.

Thank you for sharing these points. This is a great time of year to reflect on who we are and where we are going. One of my favorite books to re read this time of year is “Simple Abundance” by Sarah Ban Breathnach. I think it is still availability on Amazon and it takes you through a daily journey. It always makes me feel grateful for everyday little things. By the way I really like your Gustav Klimt mug.

Thank you for reminding me to have self compassion. I found myself feeling a little shameful and disgusted regarding needing to get some things done and they're just not done yet. But I'm making progress gaining momentum, and I'm doing the best I can. I'm not familiar with Renee's work yet but plan to check out her message. I also have the same Klimt coffee mug which is a reminder of my late husband. It's a wonderful thing to wake up to with my coffee. I have tea later in the day. It might sound weird but I feel like I know you. I appreciate being able to see your face, your colorful clothing and Jewelry, the comforting sound of your voice, the continual encouragement and honesty, and the variety of information you provide. I also like your thought-provoking questions which direct us to consider how we are applying in our lives, the topic of discussion. Thank you!

Margaret, I am often misunderstood because of my voice, it is high pitched, I find it goes higher when I am upset, or tired. When I speak really low it sounds to me as I am a trucker. I wish I could have a voice that matches my wisdom, and my looks. I feel insecure when people notice the thinnest in my voice, Help? I am 67 and I want to sound very demure with grace.

Honestly Diane, it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks - you can't change your voice :-) and real friends will accept you as you are! So I hope you don't worry or feel insecure anymore. :-) We love you here just as you are
