  • Someone once told me that "aging is profound." I couldn't agree more.
And, while, aging can be profound and wonderful, the unfortunate truth is that it can also be so heavy that it ends up weighing down our dreams.

Hi there! I started receiving Widow benefits last September. It has taken some time to get used to not going to work outside of the home but I'm finally getting into the swing of it, I do believe. My husband was sick for 13 years and passed away seven years ago. At the same time I was taking care of my husband and working full-time and three children and I could go on and on, I was also taking care of my mother and all of her errands doctor's appointments Etc. Well, I decided a couple of weeks ago that I am going to, after 28 years, paint my living room, pull up that old carpet, and totally redecorate. It was seeming very daunting to me but I have finally started cleaning things up and putting things away and preparing the room for its new look and I must say I am having a blast. Giving my living room a fresh new look is so exciting. I can work on it when I feel like it, if I want to take a break, I take a break, it's awesome. I've also noticed this spring, the first spring I've never worked outside of the home, all of the flowering trees. I feel like I've missed so much because I've always had to concentrate on making money. I am so grateful to my late husband, Ed, ..... for everything. " We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us."

Life is short, I think it’s important to do things that make you happy. At 65, I find myself doing something people our age don’t usually do. I play video games ! It’s something my husband and I do together. A bonding activity.

I retired from public school teaching almost a year ago, and started a new chapter. I'm taking classes in nutrition, fitness, and disease prevention and management and looking forward to starting a business to help people live their healthiest lifestyles. It's a passion for me, and I love what I am learning. I am an excellent whole foods, plant based vegan cook, I have taken up vegetable gardening, and I exercise with a passion, so I can share from experience that these healthy choices will change your life and make you feel 20 or 30 years younger!

I enjoy the quiet of the mornings. I never had time before as I rushed off to work. I sit in the sun and read for an hour each
morning with my dog by my side. I think he loves this little routine as much as I do.

You should mention Patreon briefly in each video. With nearly 62K subscribers on your UA-cam channel there should be a good number willing to contribute $1, $3 or more each month for the positive, supportive, daily videos you post and to ensure that you are able to continue Sixty and Me for many years to come.

I feel as though I have not followed my bliss for years and I am so far removed from it that I am reacquainting myself with what bliss means to me at this stage of my life. I thank you for the encouragement.

The Bill Moyers/Joseph Campbell Power of Myth series changed my life forever. I still watch them and I still re-read passages of his books. It was the only thing I'd heard that made any sense to me with regards to religion and nothing has ever come close to saying more about it for me. Thank goodness he did that series with Bill Moyers, thank goodness. p.s. And wow, I was so happy to see they're on Netflix for another generation to get turned on.

Thank you so much for the daily reflections. You have become my friend that I check in with daily. At our age we lose so contact with so many friends. It is great to have a new friend. My bliss is my family. Unfortunately they are all in 3 different states and we all have to travel to be together. I also love the outdoors and am looking forward to the warmer weather. It is still 32 this morning. I love my plants that are starting to poke through the ground. I love nature. The birds are all back and I can hear them in the morning. Have a great day.

I love fabric stores too and have bought 30 cm of a gorgeous fabric to make a scarf too, maybe silk or a very fine cotton. The remnant bins in exclusive fabric stores have some beautiful bargains too. I am enjoying learning about nutrition and cooking healthy meals. I also love to sew.

I have only just started wearing scarves and feeling comfortable wearing them, I have quite a few but used to put them on and tie them different ways and then take them off as I didn't feel right ! Twice this week I have worn them and felt great 😀. What a great idea to buy a small length of material to use a s a scarf, I had never thought of doing that before, always just bought ready made scarves. I do sew so don't know why I never thought of doing it, duh ! I will now look at the more expensive pieces of material and buy a small length and also in the remnants boxes and see if I would like them as a scarf, thanks for the inspiration. My bliss this week was one of my daughters coming to stay for two days and bringing the dog and taking him to the park and walking along the beach. This morning in the park we saw an albino squirrel, we don't see many of them here.

My bliss is seeing my children and grandchildren which also involves a lot of travel (another bliss) since some of them are 3000 miles away from where we live. We will see them next week as we are flying to San Diego. Smaller blisses are cooking healthy meals, quilting and crochet. I love nature in all seasons and love our beach get always in summer and fall. This community is such a joy as well!

    Hi Margaret,
I would like to begin by saying how much I thoroughly enjoy your beautiful, warm energy each day...it always brings a sense of smiling with aha moments of insights and prospective!
My bliss is ever evolving and can be my art, which is mixed media...or has recently turned into making and designing purses. The freedom of allowing your mind to wander and explore without putting boundaries on how you feel about being in the moment; this is bliss as well. Take the time to learn about who you are now without feeling as if you have to be the same person everyone knew you as before in your life. Nothing stays the same...that includes us all!
Raise your cup of tea or coffee or wine...and know that sometimes following your bliss is simply doing nothing and being still. That's where all creative minds begin:-))
