At 67 I relocated to a different state, I learn to drive and brought a car. Join the senior center and now attend classes offered by the Community College this has enabled me to meet new people and make new friends . And I am so happy I did. Yes I had big loses of family and great friends there are times I cry, and miss them (especially in the holidays) but God has plans for me until then I will try to live each day with gusto, laugh and always try to be kind. put on my lipstick, splash my perfume and start my day with a smile. Margaret I am so happy I found your channel you are a great inspiration.

I am more accepting of myself. I am proud of all my gray hair, my wrinkles and my scars. It’s been quite the ride. I lost 3 classmates in high school, I am grateful that I have been able to get to this point. I earned it all. Grateful for each new day. 😊

When I get down I just remember how many women around the world who would love to be me. I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge. Think of how many people in the world are refugees, war zones. I think of how fortunate I am. I'm going in for a foot surgery and the medical bills scare me but I know worry is not going to help. I will just make payments and get on with life. I'm looking forward to taking a walk in a month or two. We forget sometimes our blessings.

I have a bracelet that says "Act 4." My grandkids asked what that means; I told her life comes in 20 year acts; I'm in Act 4. Every time someone calls me ma'am, I say thank you. I treat it as an honorific that I've earned. Attitude is everything.

    • @latsnojokelee6434

I love this idea of act four because act three just seems so final. I suppose if you plan on living to be 100 there’s really five acts.

Mmmm. Thank you. I needed this. I've been floundering around lately. Living without purpose. Waiting for what...I don't know. I retired in April of last year after 39 years of hard blue collar labor. I was working 10 hour days at the end of my career and it all came to a sudden halt because of foot issues. I hadn't really planned for my twilight years and dove deep into depression. Such an adjustment! I'm finally realizing I have to get with it, life has to be lived and have been casting about for inspiration. You inspire me in these chats. I'll be checking back in for sure. Thanks again.

Maybe it is because I am only 64 but I haven't changed how I feel about me. I have not stopped my voice. I think I figured out that I would have to work harder physically to keep in the world freely. I take Pilates class twice a week. I have let my hair go naturally gray. I feel like I have more knowledge from experience and the gray shows my history. I love to read to learn something new. And I love crime fiction. I believe variety is the spice of life! I love to do acts of kindness. You bring joy to my life too!

I stopped trying to make people love and except me. And I realized I am in control of my reality. So if someone makes you feel bad about yourself then they have to go.( this is to include family) I have zero tolerence for that now that Im 60...lol..Any of you that were abused as a child then most likely you are a codependent or possibly a Narcissist . Educate yourself on Narcissism and codependency its a real eye opener. Thanks for sharing 💖

The adjustment was that I quit my job! I'm not 60 yet, I'm a few months shy, but I was fed up. Now I want me. not a carrer, not a relationship, not stuff, I want to see if I can be healthy and happy, and more importantly calm and content.

I am the same age as Oprah Winfrey. I used to measure my success in life on her time line. I felt that I should have been as successful since i was her age. I became a teacher, never was a billionaire, but realized that I was as important to many children's lives; especially when when I see them as adults in the supermarket & they give me a hug. That's worth a billion dollars!

She is basicly a teacher at her core and we can admire you both for that! Enjoy your life, gather new and old friends , they are sunshine! Here is a hug!

I got emotional on that one as well! You convey things so well... I'm not yet 60 but I can relate to all these things. I do something when I'm overwhelmed and too many voices are swirling around me head, making decisions, I say "Find the quiet voice, the one not vying for attention, the one that is just there all along." I've had that experience where all the other voices are everyone else's, what we've heard, read, been told. I believe the quiet one is ours, our true voice. It takes practice to find it sometimes though but the more you do it, I think I'll get better at it. Have a great day.

I will be 60 in a few short months. I am divorced and my 3 kids are grown & gone. I was laid off my job of 20 years and given a $300.00 severance. I have no retirement, I get a very very small amount of alimony. Thank God I have 2 roommates, one owns the home. I rent a room. My friend/landlord has been very kind and made me feel this is my home too. I have tried to find employment since losing my job. I am very thankful for my health. I am low income. I have lost my joy. I want to feel productive & relevant. I must be careful of gas money. I am NOT retired, I am unemployed. I have absolutely felt age discrimination. I know that many women have it much worse than I. How do I get joy back? My roommates go to work, and I try to keep a routine for myself, but you can only clean, do laundry and go on walks so much. I realize that I don't have a bad life, I am having a bad day. Any positive comments from you women would be appreciated. I am basically a happy person, but have been 'down' for longer than is comfortable. I don't want to go on pills. Thank you for this platform for me to vent. Please be kind.

Hello Lana, you are in a tough spot, but it won't last. Yes, I know that ageism is rampant. I was wondering if you could put your talents to work for you. You obviously have a good command of the English language, so how about volunteering to help others learn to converse in English. As well, you would be surprised (maybe) about how many native English speakers are illiterate. Maybe there is an organization where you could work with adults who need help learning to read. If you got some unpaid experience then perhaps you could go on to charge a fee from people who could afford it. I guess the thing is to get out there and keep mixing. Hopefully, through contacts something will come your way. I wish you well.

Hello M Parton, thank you so very much for responding to my comment, and thank you for your kind words and great suggestions. I will definitely look into volunteering to help others with English speakers who could use a bit of help. I must say that I feel like I could use some help with it myself. I really appreciate you taking the time to read my lengthy post. Thank you for the encouragement it means more than you know.

Thoes pills are ghastly and don't help in the long haul. Sit in a park for an hour each day and read a book or just watch people and nature.. This is what I do and I've met some lovely people.. God bless you where ever you are in this world.. ❤️ ❤️

Lana, I know thus is a very late response however I am just now viewing this video. AARP has a jobs program for low income seniors. The program puts seniors in Temporary
part time jobs within their communities. It helps them with resumes, interviewing skills and assists them in finding permanent jobs. There is one downside in my opinion, the jobs typically only pay the minimum wage. BUT I also feel that some money is better than no money AND money attracts money. Something to consider.

    • @daisyong1719
      @daisyong1719 Рік тому

Dear Lana, you have my compassion. I felt your honesty and openness in sharing your feelings in detail. I would like to share my thoughts with you. I can you see you have less material and beings burden to shoulder, and the commitment to this material world, if are already in the far better position than the rest to enjoy the spend more time getting to be with yourself. How to get to know ourselves better, the only way is walk the journey by yourself and with yourself, spend more time walking in the forest, park, just simply be in the nature would give you moment to contemplate. After sometime, your mind and body would lead you to have a deep cleansing by perhaps doing the meditation. Once any human reach the peacefulness from within, you are complete, and you know that each day is only bring happiness and joyfulness. Being productive or busy occupying doing things are actually just an illusion of self. Hope this helps. Thank you.

I had several reactions to your comments about health...I am 63 and have been dealing with declining health for almost 10 years. I was in a car crash and now I have limited mobility and in a wheelchair. I have diabetes and digestive problems...actually too many to mention! When you say "health is beauty" , I just about cried. I' m not healthy so I'm not beautiful anymore? I understand what you were getting at , it's not makeup but I was just knocked off the beam by that statement. Then you talked about "being proud of your health"! I just about lost it. I've worked on healing in endless ways for a decade but still I'm not healthy. I'm proud that I never gave up but today's chat just left me sad and uncomfortable. It's the first time ever that Sixty & me did that...just caught me by surprise. I still love and appreciate the work you do, but I had to use my voice today and let you know how I feel.💞

You give us a different perspective of what beauty is!
Of course we can not know the effects of our words on someone, however kindly intended to those of us who may be worried about our appearance when we could look more deeply and be grateful for things we take for granted, such as our health.
You have used your voice to remind us all that beauty is as beauty does. Things like kindness, generosity, encouragement, integrity, high moral conduct, peace and patience are beautiful.
You speak beautifully from your declining health. May we all strive to do just that, as well.

Hi Deb, I am sorry that my words upset you. I agree with Marilyn that you have given us a new perspective and I could have done a better job of being more inclusive. I do always try to included women across a wide spectrum and if you could look inside my heart you would see that there was no desire to be hurtful at all. Beauty goes beyond any physical manifestation - like Marilyn says integrity, honesty, generosity etc. Being proud of your health in whatever that is manifest in your personal life seems like something most people can embrace. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished with your health despite the accident and other life events. You say you "knew" what I meant and I appreciate that. Thanks Deb for expressing your point of view - i value it very much!

Deb Teramani Hi Deb. Glad you used your voice on this subject. I appreciate what you are saying. From my perspective, there is so much to learn, regarding what beauty is. I wonder if kindness is beautiful. Also, do I even need to be beautiful? Glad we are talking about it. Idea: An Eastern Blue Bird sat on my car today and gazed at his reflection in the window. The joy that brought to me felt beautiful. Maybe in that moment of joy, I was beautiful.

I’m a recent user of u-tube. In that I started using it for help in using my complicated embroidery machine and learning how to quilt and all of a sudden this world opened up and I found this world of information on various issues. In particular, your site. My husband and I retired early at 51 and moved to a waterfront acreage on Vancouver Island (No children and good jobs enabled this). This was my husbands dream and it turned out not mine!, I went back to work and consulted for another 4 years from the Island retiring fully in 2015. It is not until this last year on my trip home to Scotland (with my sister, the first trip in years without my husband! Extremely freeing for me!). that I have finally found a certain peace in my life after finding a reason for my overwhelming need to take care of people. Now realizing that like you mentioned, all of a sudden I realize I’m 61 and it’s what?? Where did that face come from, I didn’t look that haggard last year? Should I be dressing like I do? Why do I have all this make up? Anyway, I found you great u-tube channel and I am updating myself on everything. My sister and I are heading once again home to Scotland from Canada for 25 days in the beginning of April With 5 days in the London area to meet up with a couple of friends and catch a show before flying home. I just watched your video last night about makeup tips with Ariane. And I love your new hair and make refresh I you look great. I look forward to catching up with all your vids. Thanks for being there for us. Kind regards, from and expat.

I visit your channel when I can use a little lift. Appreciate your remark about you can be Jewish, Christian, another faith or without a particular faith but we’re all equals. I slow down now and let myself engage a bit with others in the community, mostly older people, men, women, black, white, other. Just to share a smile or a greeting or sometimes an opinion or a story. It boosts me up and I believe it does something similar to my counterparts as well. We are all human and the simplest contact is something of value we all can give. So thank you for being available when I need that connection. ❤

Hi Margaret, I'm drinking (Dragonfly Tea) Moroccan Mint organic green tea, its lovely, I really don't like green tea but I can't taste the green tea because the mint is so lovely. Such a good chat, I totally agree with what you are saying about beauty in fact everything you said I totally believe. My adjustment is to stay positive and if I feel I'm coming off tract I try to think of something good that will take me back to being positive. Have a good day.

I am so proud of how I navigated my life when my husband took ill. It started in January 2016 and ended this year July 2021. In those first three years, I downsized a huge Victorian home with barn and L. Then I continued downsizing to a smaller Victorian with 3 storage sheds. I ended up in Florida from Maine USA to be near my sons dil and grandson. I still had a huge storage unit a full porch and shed. I am now down to the shed and porch. I have given away most of it. But a lot is antique paper that I am now organizing and pricing and should do my first show in years as I continue to minimalize my life. I have done this all myself, while I juggled caregiving, medical for my late husband, income and the usual things that need tending in daily life. @022 is the year I will be rid of the extra baggage of late husbands business stock. From there I don't know what I plan to do. But I am going to do it with aplomb!

I am so glad I discovered your site love the topics, very meaningful to me. I am going through a lot of emotions right now, its good to hear your pep talks Margaret. I recently retired and I am finding it hard to adjust. I worked for more than 40 years and am married. my husband is also retired. I have two grown children and need to find a new role. I find myself missing working. It is easy to get into a rut and I am trying to stay involved. I Go to the gym now and have some hobbies but it is a very big adjustment and I find that I struggle with it. I am glad others have shared their experiences. There are good days and bad... Like so many out there I am trying to declutter my life... again easier said than done. Thanks for allowing me to share.

Thank you. This is very helpful. I have been feeling that I have no purpose anymore. I raised 4 children to adults that are now dispersing and on their own. That was always my goal but now that they are gone I'm at a loss. I am a creative person so I continue doing my art and my hobbies but still not sure what the purpose of that is at this point. I've had my own business but recently shut it down and retired. I would love to travel but can't because of this new pandemic in the world.

    Thanks Margaret...
What a beautiful and encouraging video. I’m 64. No one really talks about how difficult, as well as, wonderful it can be to age for women and men. Your videos are so refreshing. I think you are right that aging feels so quick, all of a sudden, you’re an older person and people are treating you differently. I’m still noticing and adjusting to that. I remember the saying “what you look for, you will find.” So instead of thinking “she” just gave me a senior discount without asking, “ lol, and being annoyed by it, I think how sweet “she” is to notice and care. As I go through my day I look for the love and caring instead of what I used to do, which was notice what I thought were hurtful things from others and then turn those into self criticism.
Thank you for all your work on your videos that reach out and inspire us all. ❤️ Have a beautiful day looking and finding love everywhere.

Hi Margaret,, You look amazing , I have not logged in recently,, and I am glad you are well. You are right the years are precious,, and the opportunities are great, We do need to find value in our lives and not let the people who view us as invisible, bring us down. Sadly this happens from time to time, As for adjustments , I am traveling this year,, I am trying not to work and be stressed,,< I want to have a purpose but not have anxiety,, I want to give back, and not just consume,, Above all this time in my life has allowed me more time to be a friend a mother, a christian and a support to others,< It is hard to find a balance,, and also hard to not be running and stressed that our time is running out,, I just remind my self each day is a gift,,, Keep up the inspiring work,,
