The whole point of superheroes is to act as a vehicle to show people overcoming obstacles and challenges as a universal form of empowerment for individuals to fantasize about. How dumb is it to sit here and say that a superhero story should show "diverse" people being oppressed and held back, which actually has the opposite effect. It is not progressive and simply serves as a reminder that 'diverse' people only exist to be oppressed and can have no freedom to do anything heroic or positive and uplifting in any reality, dimension or universe.

Here's what is the most amazing stat regarding Naomi's ratings. Despite only pulling 500K+ viewers total, it is the CW's FOURTH highest rated show. 4TH!!! I have seen shows with numbers better than Naomi get canceled mid-season and this is the 4th most watched show on the CW. I understand why the CW's parent companies are trying to sell it.
If that network was a sports franchise, the general manager, the coaching staff would be fired. The players with any value would be traded and it would be called a total rebuild.
The CW definitely needs a total rebuild from whoever purchases it.
I believe that is why there are reports circulating that AT&T and Warner are looking to sell the CW.
Which shows in particular?
Honestly I don't know shit about writing or directing a show.
But give me a fraction of this show budget ,volunteers from a local comicon and a few hours of reading generic fanfiction and I'd guarantee I'd come up with someone good.
What you don't know will be made up for with focus and passion even if it's for a limited time and purpose.

They finally make a new original black character and they ruin immediately. See this the real problem. People who do this can’t wrap their heads around writing a black character without first either bringing in generic black social ills first, or make it about sh*tty romanic subplot first. These new era of writers are so afraid of violence and action they scream bare foot while fleeing away from the action genre.

Started watching a show in 2017. Called black sail. The show was awesome. And then after a season or 2 they started with makin the main character bi-sexual with way too much focus on the dude on dude parts. It literally ruined the show. Have seen so many shows do it. They reel you in in season 1 and then hit you over the head with their nonsense in season 2. Many arent even waiting and just leading with the nonsense.
I agree about the bisexual thing but I think you are exaggerating on the way to much focus they only showed it for like one or two episodes and then they kind of forgot about it there wasn't even any flashbacks after that.
Black Sails was okay. It had plenty of eye candy for heterosexual men in it, but yes, the series did go down that whole wahman powa and gay thing to ridiculous levels. Hell, the series ends with the main character having been gay the whole time. Ended with a big gay kiss. Despite that, not a bad show for all the rest of it.

I love the limited series, but you're right. DC and Marvel are now just creating storylines/characters in the comics (no matter how shit) then Google normies can try to justify them in live action with "it happened in the comics"
This is ALL Brian michael bendis fault, and dc for allowing him to destroy dc like he did marvel for years.
I noticed this as well. The new gimmick is indeed putting garbage into comic form so these clowns can claim folks know nothing about comics because this or that was in them. I largely think there has to be some definitive cutoff point by which this claim is valid. Part of the problem is that they've been doing this crap for so long that the cutoff point may be greater than 10 years.
The other problem is that many times their claim that it was in comics doesn't always mean that comic sold or was received well. Their positive spin on many awful comics is just gaslighting and delusion. Gay Iceman doesn't work just because they put it into comics years ago. It was trash then, and will be trash now, even if they put that iteration into a series or movie.

I'll give a shred of credit where it's due that they actually chose to base the show off of an actual non-white female character and didn't just rely on raceswapping/genderswapping. So that's a plus. But unfortunately once again the show has to focus on more of getting political rather then deliver on good character work or plot.
agreed, ill give them credit for going with an actual original character this time and not just swapping someone for the sake of muh diversity, but they lose all the good will that generated by falling back on the usual suspects of poorly written social justice and identity politics, you can make good stories on these topics, manga does it all the time, but the west cant do it, because they can't write actual characters. They can only write diverse characters rather than characters who are diverse. No has a problem with characters who are diverse so long as they have something to and about them other than the fact they are diverse.
The only reason hollywood/the west writes their characters this way is because of the built in safe guard, if it fails they get to pull the "the only reason you didnt like it is because you dont like X card", which is complete nonsense.

Stuff like Xmen Origins Wolverine and DragonBall Evolution got a bunch of flack and the people behind these shitty products couldn't say shit. When they saw the political climate getting worse they tool full advantage of it. Now they put PC elements into their products so that if it's called out for being crap then they could use the "diversity" as a shield. And what's sad is that it worked, as medicore or bad movies and shows ended up getting softer blows because people "didn't want to be bigoted".

DC actually got a tiny bit of my respect for going the route of creating an original black character rather than race swapping a traditionally white character (like they normally like to do). But they’re idiots for giving her her own show so soon. She only got created 3 years ago. These characters have to be firmly established and build an audience and a fan base first before getting their own show or movie. That’s literally so basic lol. I knew this show wouldn’t do well for that reason and also because it’s on the CW which has just gone downhill in the last couple years.
She's not an original-for-television, but an original-in-the-comics. Interesting premise, and CW scores a point for stepping away from the legacy characters for a change. But, since the Completely Woke network has to preach constantly, that point gets erased. Idiots....

Crazy thing is Fox already made a TV show with a young black female who discovered she had some powers, it was called The Passage. It was actually pretty good.. unfortunately it lasted one season. That show didn't hit us over the head with any agendas. It had so much potential.
When did this show air? The only show from Fox named "The Gifted" that I know had 2 seasons and did not have any young black female who discovered she had powers.
