They tokenize because they have no hardship in their lives and it makes them feel like they're making a difference.
In the mind of a progressive, equality is their gift to give to minorities. The savior complex is nothing more than bigotry mixed with arrogance.
Good point!! I found lots of creativity growing up in a trailer with 3 other siblings and only one nintendo. These rich kids are empty.
It reminds me of Squidward.
"I am such a good person"
Ummmmm they change characters because white people have no real hardship so it’s easier and more powerful to write stories about the oppressed. Cope and seethe

"She makes books for lesbians that work at subways" one of the funniest observations I think I have ever heard.
This new idealogy is meant to influence the children who don't know any better and parents who don't watch what their kids are consuming. It won't end. It's psychological conditioning.
It’s not a new ideology. Things move in cycles. It’s spiritual warfare, and it’s existed for as long as humans have existed. It’s just that we have the internet now…

The difference between a follower and a paying customer is very interesting and complex. I've seen many artists for example with 100k-200k+ followers that only have a couple hundred patrons on Patreon. Granted, that's probably not the only source of income, but it's an example of how something going viral doesn't always equal financial gain
Like Izzzyzzz, The Cynical Hystorian, Negative Legend ( *shudders* ), EmperorTigerstar, among others? Granted the last one is doing worse than a couple hundred.
What bothers me the most about this whole thing is that the comic industry is pandering to an audience that doesn’t or won’t even consume the product that they’re call for change in.
I find out that the reason why they doing this because they believe the OG is boring…,.🤦🏾♂️ and they are out of ideas
Well it's because Twitter minded people have infiltrated all levels of the comic book industry, so it's Twitter people pandering to other Twitter types.
It's kinda like putting woke and political bullshit in vidyagames
@@Shadow.in.History Absolutely!
Tokenizing is hero mentality, where they think they are saving the groups they are tokenizing, while at the same time exercising a power play to establish that the tokenized only succeeds due to their help now. So the tokenized **need** them, and to a certain extent, **owe** them.
PIN THIS COMMENT!

South Park did the token character best.
We should put a lower-case "t" in front of the Marvel Comics' main office.
They'll understand that it's "time to leave"!
@@AnomalyINC 😆😆😆😆 Thank you for reminding me of that. LOL
It's not going to end. The only way it ends is if they ever succeed in making the token more popular than the original character, something that will never happen. That's like saying a modern artist will be able to loosely recreate the David or the Mona Lisa and it will be more popular than the original. You can even be good but the classics will forever be Classics.
Happened with nick fury.
@@raam726 Yeah unfortunately true
What does classic mean?
@@marsjokes I'd say the characters that everyone knows regardless of interest in comics. The biggest most commercially valuable characters. Coincidentally the ones people are trying thier hardest to tokenize right now.
@@Kiteshade yeah I'd consider Nick Fury like a Jackson Pollock. To the ones in the know, the originals are unmistakable, to those that don't, it's easy to make them believe a fake is real because they know the stereotypical style but that's about all they know. Not to mention Samuel L. Jackson just being a living meme and people loving it.
It's erasing and replacing. They don't seem to care about current tanking sales. I wonder where the money to keep funding this is coming from? There's something to it I'm sure.
It’s all about social engineering. I think they’re playing the long game, knowing that future generations won’t know any different or better because this is all they’ve ever been exposed to. That’s why totalitarian regimes and ideologies always go for the children first and foremost.
Did you know that in Japan, Shonen Jump lets fans mail in their opinions and they can vote a rating to any manga series, so this info is given to the author. Then the author needs to figure out the best way to win its fans over. This system is great because you had to buy their content to even make a suggestion, so only appealing to customers keeps their content strong. TWITTER PEOPLE DON'T BUY SHIT!
That sounds cool and makes the author create a compelling story with those suggestions rated.
I remember Toriko's Anime had like a design submission on who can create interesting food monsters that could be featured in the show or during a montage.
Oh my God I think I sent a letter to the one of the creators years ago I think my friend also sent a card to the creator of One piece.
Marvel used to have something like that. Then they handed America Chavez over to Gabby Rivera, and the rest is history.
Missing the point when it comes to the "long game" of fracturing a culture.
The Japanese culture is one of the most compliant... docile... cucked... subservient... useless societies on the planet currently. They will do whatever they are told... whenever they are told... all the time. The "masters of the universe" don't need to degrade them on a societal level... it's already done. They can have whatever type of entertainment they want.
It's like China... they did proper COVID lockdowns for a month or 2... then they were having giant 500,000 people rave concerts with no masks. It has nothing to do with a fake virus... not my point... it has everything to do with a completely subservient society... that knows when it's time to bend over and take the pipe.
The US in some ways still has some "independent" tendencies... so they will continue to propagandize and mentally sodomize the society en masse... until they are sufficiently cucked... and brother... it isn't that far down the road ;-)
Stop hiring activists, feminists. And Spider-man supporters!!

@@reydelsol2753 I was wondering the same thing. Taking established characters and replacing them with women, people of colour, etc. is lazy.
It's also condescending. The unfortunate implication is that people have no faith in making new characters who are minorities. Therefore they shoehorn it onto established characters.
I refer to it as the corollary of Chekhov's Gun principle of story writing, known as, Chekhov's Club.
Chekhov's Gun: Any detail irrelevant to the story must be removed.
Chekhov's Club: If you are a terrible writer, include unnecessary character details, then when you receive valid criticism for your terrible writing skills, you can proclaim all your critics are istophobes and use that character to club your critics over the head.
It will never end, this is the eternal battle you have to fight wether you like it or not.
It's not about current fans. They are trying to attract generation woke. That's their future. They don't give a fuk about us OGs.
Generation woke is the future unfortunately
Why do they tokenize? Answer: Cultural Marxism
But communism is dead.
Someone needs to ask these kids whether they enjoy this sh1t and whether they know they are being brainwashed.
Its easier to tokenize, than make a new character with actual depth plain and simple.
But then you destroy any hope of your character gaining respect with the core audience that's been enjoying that character since it's inception
When we walk away and stop paying any attention to them. We should be trying to formulate more of a large organized effort, like a publicly owned IP, that we vote who runs it and who works on it and maybe we seek people out, maybe even rouse some out of retirement.

Considering that comic book readers are a minority, when comparing with movie goers, I think the movie people (and by extension the writers, and publishers) decided that, for them, it would be worth it to abandon the comic book readers, and try and rake in as much money as they can (by appealing to them) with movies and series. And well, the average viewer doesn't really care, and is usually ignorant, that much about the source material.
I mean, I've enjoyed some Harry Potter movies without having read any of their material. And the first Star Wars movies that I had watched and enjoyed was the prequel trilogy (and don't particularly view the original as superior to the prequel trilogy).
But yeah, anyway, I'm just trying not to assign malevolence to them. This, for me, is the best case scenario.
I did pretty well at the Harry Potter trivia show playing along at home without reading the books. The only questions I didn't have a chance at were cursed child related ones. Of course I also know what major differences there were in the books because all my friends read them.
Look no further than Marvel. They put Kevin Feige in charge of the whole damn thing.
There's already a change in the air.
The studio executives, whose primary focus was the bottom line all along no matter how much virtue-signaling they engaged in, are finally starting to feel it in their pocket books.
Rumor has it that the latest James Bond movie was heavily edited to minimize LaShawna Lynch's importance -"No Time To Die" was originally going to have Daniel Craig be a sidekick in his own movie -and that both "The Marvels" and "Ms. Marvel" are undergoing massive reshoots.
The rank-and-file True Believers in these companies are totally committed to The Cause, and are willing to reduce those companies to rubble....but I think that their days are numbered at long last. The higher-ups only put up with these fanatics for as long they THOUGHT future profits would eventually be realized.
The big two won't disappear, but for the first time in a long time they are about to have real competition

Exactly. It's all about the agenda. Profits be damned
@@melchior2678 what some point profit will matter cuz without a platform to yell at or a soapbox it's going to just come crashing down.
It is PR masquerading as change. The people at the top of the food chain haven't changed. They are still treating artists and creators like trash but by hiring people in a certain demographic they can hide behind 'social justice' as a talking point. That is the purpose of all these mandates which come from the people at the top not the creators. And if it does come from the creators it is because those creators were hired to be activists or because they have a certain ideology. It isn't because these corporations care about hiring talented artists of all backgrounds because talented people want freedom to create and these corporations like dictate and mandates from on high. So everything they are saying is exactly the opposite of what they are doing. And a lot of the people making the most noise about the "agenda" are doing it for a check not because they REALLY care about it. This also helps divert attention away from all the controversies at these media companies.
The reason why anime and manga are much more dynamic is because it is artists and creators that have more freedom to create whatever they want. That said most of the time these people do all the work themselves, especially in manga as opposed to in large corporate teams. This means a lot more diversity in stories, characters and ideas. Meanwhile Hollywood is stuck in group think and conformity to whatever dictates are passed down from the powers that be which isn't how the creative process works. And this has always been the problem with Hollywood to some degree, which basically boils down to rehash and reboot something until you run it into the ground.
It starts with PTA meetings when the teacher introduces herself with her “preferred pronouns”.

Tokenism is not really what this is. It’s Racism against whites. It’s Sexism against men and heterosexuals. It’s Discrimination against Christians. Stop belittling what is a planned replacement in culture (and beyond) of a group based on race, gender, sexuality and religion. Political view is also included.
Meanwhile, they are being just as utterly racist, sexist and prejudiced against these groups by using them. They are being made into cheap copies of the original with a false and failing enhancement (Mary-sue-ing) to claim these new are better all due to those changes.
Personal identity and what makes a hero a hero, a character good or great is gone in favour of identity based strictly on race, gender, sexuality and ideology (both religious and political).
They are trashing us all.

I m wondering the samething.
The answer to everything is "social-engineering".
It’s a fad. I noticed this once my company was bought and started working for a major company. None of the staff is woke but the HR company they use has all the typical trainings.
The ideology has gained too much power because a lawsuit or complaint holds too much legal power now so they hire to fit that trend.
Nevertheless, the defunct policies leading to massive demographic shifts in the country also lead to the shift in culture. Someone looking to fill a role or job that exists for “representation” is going to share those ideals.
I had an idea, but it might be somewhat corny. I was always impressed by the mental strength and heart of Muggsy, the leadership and drive to win of MJ, the work ethic and relentlessness of Kobe, the crazy nature of Rodman. I would like to make a superhero exemplifying these things. I would call him Baller. Now his ball 🏀 wouldn’t be an ordinary ball of course. It would be a dark matter ball that he could handle like the silver surfer handles his board, Thor his hammer, captain America his shield. Someone with a bigger brain and skill please do something with this
In my honest opinion I feel a concept like Ghost Rider is hard to token since it can be anybody who has a Spirit of vengeance in them. Now if agendas start getting mixed in with it that's a different story.
They get a great esg rating so they can get infinite funding.
These ppl have zero idea nor care about what the actual customer base wants. It’s as if all these years of living in echo chambers and never keeping themselves grounded is coming to bite them in the ass. I’ve never ran a business but I can say with certainty that any successful business will do these things: take criticism, constantly strive to improve, and prioritize providing value to the customer. These comic pros will rather act like children and blame others or some immutable trait of theirs to feel better about their failures. We’ve gotten so comfortable with mediocrity that ppl forgot that mediocrity is what gets you eaten alive in business. Wouldn’t surprise me that these comic pros were also socialists/commies bc they’re the product of failure in the free market. There’s no incentive to support these brands that much, if at all
It'll end when they go bankrupt and their creators quit. That's the harsh truth of it. Right now, DC and MARVEL are holding on thanks to their cinematic universe. Especially Marvel, the way I see it.
I think the big factor here is actually visibility overall. As long as the culture is fixated on identity groups, that is what your major media corporations will also fixate on because that is what they have been made most aware of.
My thoughts are that these corporations are banking on ESG to successfully be implemented within the next decade. All the social engineering and virtue signaling they're doing now will show to those in government that they should be subsidized for meeting ESG policy/regulations. What better way for a corporation to keep making money than just doing what the government outlines and cutting off the need to make something good and entertaining for an audience?
Why do you never discuss the ESG score? It is at the heart of so many of Hollywood's decisions.
Because it’s not

Rule #1 of Advertising/ Marketing is don't get new customers by losing old ones. So if you take characters who are White? And turn them POC? Characters who are straight and make them LGBT? People familiar with the original characters will bail.
If I were to be honest, even if we acknowledge that it is tokenism, it doesn't have to be a bad thing. Like, the Blue Beetle that I know is Jaime Reyes, but I'm sure he wasn't the first one. By this point, people have accepted the new one. And _I've_ long since accepted Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel. It's not like Carol Danvers will ever return to the role. In speaking of, there has been multiple Captain Marvels before Danvers (all of whom I believe are supperior. Wait, that does make me wonder, would Genis-Vell count as a reverse token? 'Cause he's a guy, and the Captain Marvel that he replaced was a black woman). And say what you want about Carol, but I kinda like it if only because there's at least one super hero that would remain dead. Not even Ultimate Peter did that. And then there's someone like Ronin, who not many people remember was the identity of a deaf woman before it went to Clint Barton and then to other people. Sure, there are times I think its just ridiculous like when they made Allan Scott gay (seriously, you're just trying to make a wood joke by this point), but by this point, I'd accepted the idea of legacy characters to be something that's been in comics for a very long time (hi Wally West. Heck, Barry Allen is a legacy character, I don't see anyone complaining), and while these days, they're used to diversify characters, not all of them are bad, and some are great.

Tokenism is terrible, stop being lazy and create someone knew. As for removing the Snyderverse from the DCEU, WB is acting like idiots on this, I mean get rid of something so amazing that brought so many fans together only for not liking Snyder over $$$ from.what he can bring in. There has to be more to it; either they getting paid off to keep DC from doing better than Marvel, to be like any other big Hollywood company like with some in the MCU/Ghostbusters remake/ Harley Quinn/WW84/Star Wars that focus on woke dribble and cry when it goes to 💩 with blaming actual fans. Remember, go Woke and then Broke. Most of the woke cancer culture crowd are not actually fans on what made these a fan based franchise in the first place. A major amount of them only know what they are currently programmed to know by what they want them to know. You also got those that are so ignorant, that they don't care if they are wrong... As long as they get what they want, which is all about them. You want to give the woke crowd what they want too, then fine but do it in ways that work. For example, make a series like "What If" but as in calling it DC's Multiverse series, to where it gives those viewers what they want and still bring in the $$$ but still not alter what the fans want. That way, you give everyone a taste of the cake NOT just one sided. Best way I can see that solve any solution and if anyone wants to complain on the franchise working that way... Start telling them that can deal with it cause you are still getting the stories that you want to see. At that point, nobody can really have a leg to.stand on with crying over it with... And if they still do, let them sit at the corner like a 2 year old and cry about it. The world needs to stop letting their temper tantrums effect everyone else.
It reminds me of that South Park character Token 😂
It’s easier with a saturated market. The “multiverse” mentality (and DC has their version as well) allows for all these various “tokenizations” to take place because their failures just get tucked away into the multiverse and they can just try and try again until one is finally accepted (like Miles Morales).
With each successful compromise, the faithful comic buyers and readers lose standing to the Woke assault.
Yes I agree. But at the same time it’s not just the fault of comic creators.
The problem is that token characters simply get more shine than original non token characters.
Cyborg, Vixen both have had their own comic but it didn’t sell. People will hate purchase or at least look up people like Black Superman or Black Captain America which at least gets short boosts in sales.
Also even IG character sales are in the dump.. so to them it’s not like tokenized characters are actually hurting anything.
We know for a fact DC sales are way down because they are killing the Justice League. DC always dies this when characters are not selling for a giant sales boost and to go in another direction. Hal Jordan and Superman are examples
Now the LOTR has tokenism too. 🤦🏿♂️ I'll never adapt my work woth Hollywood
Who's Ms Marvel a token of?
No one wants her powers. She can keep those giant hands for herself.
They made Tim Drake gay? Or bi? Wtf man..
The sad part is all they have to do is write a good show. Yet another great example that points that out is peacemaker no one knew who the hell he was and is about to be one of the most beloved characters they adapted.
The people tokenizing are doing a discredit to diversity!
I actually like miles morales as a Spider-Man, however Peter Parker will always be the Spider-Man. He is truly a more relatable character.
As a white comic reader for 30 years, I don't get why when they create unique and interesting black characters like Night Thrasher, Rage, Synch, they don't know what to do with them.
