@eclaire1 before watching this video, I saw your question. Tysm for saving 5:53 minutes of my life, because I would have wasted it on watching this video and in the end, like you, not gotten an answer. 💜
When I was a child, many years ago, living in Missouri, we had no access to cod, or other ocean caught fish, but my mother would make us take a large tablespoon of cod liver oil, every day, especially in the winter. We would have salmon patties (from canned salmon) several times a month. We had freshwater fish at least once a week, (more in the summertime since we caught them) and a salad with every meal. There was always fruit available. We also had grass-fed beef, pork, or chicken with at least one or two meals daily. Green veggies at least twice a day. Home-made bread and usually fruit-filled pies or cake most days. My mother was intuitively smart about our diets and she set us up to eat properly. I still eat well, though less meat now. With my handful of supplements (including krill oil, no meds) I am a very, very healthy 77-year-old.

Dr Berg notes: Dr Berg talks about fish oil benefits and the importance of omega-3 fatty acids. Both cod liver oil and fish oil contain omega-3 fatty acids, with the addition of vitamin A and vitamin D in cod liver oil. Around 25% of the fat in your brain is the omega-3 fatty acid, DHA. Most of this fat is in the frontal cortex, which supports memory, focus, concentration, and attention. DHA supports the integrity of the membranes around the neurons and supports the retina. It also protects against inflammation, UV radiation, and macular degeneration. Omega-3 fatty acids keep skin smooth and protect against acne, psoriasis, eczema, dry skin, red skin, and ultraviolet light. They can also help remineralize bone, decrease the risk of osteoporosis, and improve arthritis and joint inflammation. Taking cod liver oil or fish oil for 30 days has even more potential benefits, including the following: •Supports liver health •Helps regulate blood sugar •Helps reverse insulin resistance •Supports inside of the arteries •Reduces symptoms of asthma and allergies •Supports fertility •Helps eliminate soreness and inflammation after exercise Avoid choosing fish oil based on price alone. Some fish oils are poor quality and may be rancid or oxidized. Know the source of your fish oil to avoid getting a product contaminated with heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, or mercury. Fish oil and cod liver oil may taste like fish, but they shouldn’t have a rancid taste. To minimize the taste, try looking for supplements in pearl form. Omega-3 foods include fatty fish such as wild-caught salmon, herring, mackerel, and sardines. Shellfish and grass-fed dairy products also contain omega-3 fatty acids. Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍

What happened after 30 days? What oceans are safe? Which brands don’t process in China? What to look for on the label? These are the questions that really need to be answered. Anyone can Google the benefits of fish oil and cod liver oil.
1. What Oceans Are Safe Sources for Cod Liver Oil? Cod liver oil typically comes from cod caught in the Atlantic Ocean, particularly around the North Atlantic region, including the waters of Norway, Iceland, and Greenland. These areas are known for their cold, clean waters, which are ideal for sourcing high-quality cod liver oil. The safest sources generally come from: • Norwegian Waters: Renowned for their strict environmental regulations and sustainable fishing practices. • Icelandic Waters: Known for pristine, cold waters with minimal pollution. • Alaskan Waters: Cod from the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska are also considered safe due to sustainable fishing practices and clean waters. 2. What Brands Are Processed in the USA and Not in China? When looking for cod liver oil brands processed in the USA, it’s essential to choose those that explicitly state their country of processing on the label or website. Some brands that are known for processing their products in the USA or Europe, rather than China, include: • Carlson Labs: Often cited as a high-quality brand, with products processed in Norway and the USA. • Nordic Naturals: This brand sources its fish oil from Norwegian waters and processes it in Norway, though they have some processing facilities in the USA. • Green Pasture: Their cod liver oil is fermented and processed in the USA. 3. What to Look for on the Label? When selecting cod liver oil, here are key things to look for on the label: • Source of the Cod: Ensure the label specifies the origin of the cod, such as “Norwegian cod” or “Icelandic cod.” • Purity and Testing: Look for certifications like IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) or third-party testing for heavy metals, PCBs, and other contaminants. • Processing Method: Cold-pressed or fermented oils are preferred as they retain more nutrients. • EPA and DHA Content: These are the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, and higher levels indicate a more potent product. • Vitamin A and D Content: Cod liver oil is naturally rich in these vitamins. Check the levels to ensure they meet your nutritional needs without exceeding safe limits. • Additives and Flavorings: Choose products with minimal additives and natural flavorings if possible. 4. What Happens After 30 Days of Consuming Fish Oil and Cod Liver Oil? After 30 days of consistent consumption, you might experience several potential benefits, though individual results can vary: • Improved Heart Health: Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil can help lower triglycerides, reduce blood pressure slightly, and improve overall cardiovascular health. • Enhanced Brain Function: Omega-3s are vital for brain health, potentially leading to improved cognitive function, memory, and mood stability. • Reduced Inflammation: Cod liver oil’s anti-inflammatory properties can reduce joint pain and stiffness, particularly in individuals with rheumatoid arthritis. • Better Vision: The high vitamin A content in cod liver oil supports eye health and may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration. • Stronger Immune System: Vitamin D in cod liver oil can boost immune function, helping your body fend off illnesses more effectively. • Skin Health: Cod liver oil may improve skin hydration and reduce symptoms of eczema and acne. However, it’s important to monitor for any adverse effects, such as gastrointestinal discomfort, an unpleasant aftertaste, or potential overdosing on vitamins A and D if consumed in excess. Consulting with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen is advisable to ensure it’s appropriate for your specific health needs.

Omega-3s, primarily DHA, are crucial for brain function, supporting memory, focus, and protecting against inflammation. They also benefit eye health by supporting the retina and protecting against UV radiation. In the skin, omega-3s promote smoothness and protect against conditions like acne and psoriasis. Additionally, they aid bone health, reduce inflammation in joints and the liver, balance blood sugars, and support cardiovascular health by reducing arterial inflammation. Fish oils may also alleviate symptoms of asthma and allergies, support reproductive health, and aid in post-exercise recovery. However, caution is advised in choosing fish oils to avoid rancidity and contamination with heavy metals.

I've stopped taking Fish Oil from supplements because of the new studies that show that fish oils are very sensitive to oxidization (not being stored in low temperatures can cause this as well as overtime oxidization and others) and when this oils oxidize they release harmful components that have been shown to have negative impact on our body and health like bad skin elasticity and others. Instead I just eat fresh salmon or fish once in a while, and I have been adding flax seeds to my diet to get Omegas ever since, I just add a daily tbsp of blended flax seed mixed with some water and it works great!, I've been giving this mix to my mom and it has greatly relieved her Peripheral Neuropathy, I just think this is worth mentioning and useful information to look at. (BTW I threw away my vitamin A and Beta-carotene supplement pills and just bought some carrots lol, sometimes natural sources are just the best option)

**** A rather *disturbing* UK study was out in April 2024 in BMJMedicine: "Regular use of fish oil supplements and course of cardiovascular diseases: Prospective cohort study" It shows regular intake of fish oil surprisingly INCREASES the risk of atrial fibrillation & stroke for health individuals!! But for those who have AF, it reduces the risk of progression to other cardiovascular diseases and death. It's a prospective survey, the sample size is >400k, so not sth that can be lightly dismissed 🤔
Did the study separate the sources of “fish oil”? Did it rule out those that used farmed fish that may be high in mercury, pesticide and herbicide run off into hatchery areas? What about the differences in diet and weight of those “surveyed”? This is why so many “studies” over the past century are really useless.
I looked at this study. What can I say? “In the group of regular users of fish oil supplements, we found higher proportions of elderly people (22.6% v 13.9%), white people (95.1% v 94.2%), and women (57.6% v 53.9%), and higher consumption of alcohol (93.1% v 92.0%), …than non-users. “ ???????? The proportion of elderly people is almost 2 times higher in “fish oil” group compared to “ non fish oil”, and they make no adjustment when these group develops more cases of AF???? They don’t know that AGE is a main risk factor for this disease???? That was the first thing that my cardiologist told me when my AF was discovered. But, nevertheless, this much older group showed much better results in progressing , better to say, regressing from AF to heart attack, stroke and death compared to the younger grop that did not take fish oil 😅 This “ study” is total trash! Guys, always read the study itself, not the headlines!
@@mausfledermaus7811 You can't dismiss the findings just like that, though, becoz the findings report both +ve AND -ve effects! Granted, the age of the exp group is a bit higher and the difference is significant and hence not negligible, but if you attribute the deleterious effects obtained to old age, how would you then account for the beneficial effects? When it is deleterious it is the old age, but when it is beneficial it's the oil? You can't argue like that, can you?

When I was a child, many years ago, living in Missouri, we had no access to cod, or other ocean caught fish, but my mother would make us take a large tablespoon of cod liver oil, every day, especially in the winter. We would have salmon patties (from canned salmon) several times a month. We had freshwater fish at least once a week, (more in the summertime since we caught them) and a salad with every meal. There was always fruit available. We also had grass-fed beef, pork, or chicken with at least one or two meals daily. Green veggies at least twice a day. Dr Berg notes:
Dr Berg talks about fish oil benefits and the importance of omega-3 fatty acids.
Taking cod liver oil or fish oil for 30 days has even more potential benefits, including the following:
•Supports liver health
•Helps regulate blood sugar
•Helps reverse insulin resistance
•Supports inside of the arteries
•Reduces symptoms of asthma and allergies
•Supports fertility
•Helps eliminate soreness and inflammation after exercise
Avoid choosing fish oil based on price alone.

Earthley makes a good one
Standard Process makes sells Calamari oil which is high quality.
What happened with you, not listening, but commenting??
And read labels, dear.
Exactly!
The safest sources generally come from:
• Norwegian Waters: Renowned for their strict environmental regulations and sustainable fishing practices.
Some brands that are known for processing their products in the USA or Europe, rather than China, include:
• Carlson Labs: Often cited as a high-quality brand, with products processed in Norway and the USA.
• Nordic Naturals: This brand sources its fish oil from Norwegian waters and processes it in Norway, though they have some processing facilities in the USA.
• Green Pasture: Their cod liver oil is fermented and processed in the USA.
3. What to Look for on the Label?
When selecting cod liver oil, here are key things to look for on the label:
• Source of the Cod: Ensure the label specifies the origin of the cod, such as “Norwegian cod” or “Icelandic cod.”
• Purity and Testing: Look for certifications like IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) or third-party testing for heavy metals, PCBs, and other contaminants.
After 30 days of consistent consumption, you might experience several potential benefits, though individual results can vary:
• Improved Heart Health: Omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil can help lower triglycerides, reduce blood pressure slightly, and improve overall cardiovascular health.

I have always loved the taste of fish. I grew up on a dairy farm, so we used milk from the barn. My mom always gave me cod liver oil to supplement the raw milk. I remember licking the spoon and begging for more. Your good advice should be easy for me to follow!

**** A rather *disturbing* UK study was out in April 2024 in BMJMedicine:
"Regular use of fish oil supplements and course of cardiovascular diseases: Prospective cohort study"
It shows regular intake of fish oil surprisingly INCREASES the risk of atrial fibrillation & stroke for health individuals!!

But, nevertheless, this much older group showed much better results in progressing , better to say, regressing from AF to heart attack, stroke and death compared to the younger grop that did not take fish oil 😅
This “ study” is total trash!
Guys, always read the study itself, not the headlines!
I only take it every third day
🤔

You can't dismiss the findings just like that, though, becoz the findings report both +ve AND -ve effects!
Thank you Dr. E.B , for this very important information God, bless 🙏
Very glad to be of help.
When are you gonna have more in stock?
Thank you for such important information. Would you recommend any brand or brands of Omega 3?
Hi there. If you like, you can try Dr. Berg's Cod liver formula. It is a very good source of Omega 3: shop.drberg.com/product/cod-liver-oil?queryId=75dca150c64601a1c484fc094ae207f0

Every day make a sandwich with a whole can of Sardines, raw onions, and mustard.😋
i put them in the fridge now, to prevent that oil oxidation (also called rancid oil). Ideally it should be a cool and dry place, and fridge is not dry but...presumably the temperature is more important than humidity
I thought you would be taking this regularly anyway? 😂
Not if you're taking blood thinners, fir example
@@elainebolling505 Why not with blood thinners? I’m on an anti-platelet until next month and I was going to resume my Omega-3 capsules today. I guess I’ll wait.
@@elainebolling505 Ah, never mind, I found it. Omega-3 supplements can enhance the effects of blood thinners, including aspirin. I’ll stick to dietary omega3 for now. 😊
What happened after 30 days, in which dosis, and periodicity ?
0:40 All this talk of "the membrane" all I can think of is "Insane in the Membrane" ...
😂
😂😂😂
Thanks doctor! You explained well lots of benefits taking Omega-3 👍🏻
Most welcome!
After watched a video, I came to a conclusion that doc didnt take omega 3 supplements for 30 days :)))
Taking cod liver oil or fish oil for 30 days has even more potential benefits, including the following:
•Supports liver health
•Helps regulate blood sugar
•Helps reverse insulin resistance
•Supports inside of the arteries
•Reduces symptoms of asthma and allergies
•Supports fertility
•Helps eliminate soreness and inflammation after exercise
@@Drberg That fine that it can make these benefits for your health. But the question is: does the doc really took those supplements for 30 days :)?
"Hi Dr. Berg, I'm focusing on muscle building while following keto and intermittent fasting. Is it effective to increase protein intake and maintain a calorie surplus for muscle growth under these conditions? Please address this issue, and if possible, make a video on it. Thank you very much!"
Thank you for your great videos. Keep on doing it.😊
You're absolutely welcome!
What's the best brand of cod liver oil? I've been taking Carlson's

@@Drberg Thank you! I will.
I’m so glad he mentioned the burping. I was getting a brand from Rite Aid and boy the burping and fishy breath was so embarrassing so I stopped taking it. Any recommendations?
Garden of life is good
OmegaVia
These I take and no bad consequences)
@@GlebTi thanks so much, is that the Vitamin Shop? I like that place. It’s been my go to since Rite Aid left my town.
Some brands have "Burpless" in the name or description. You could google "fish oil" "burpless" to discover them.
@MsNina-kh7ho I use I herb 🌿
Garden of life omega I take because of cod liver oil and there is vitamin A, and DHA , EPA 500mg , liquid 1 or 2 teaspoons )
OmegaVia has 2 separated editions
1. DHA 600 , 1 capsul
2. EPA 500 , 1 capsul
1 day I take capsuls the second 2 teaspoons of liquid)
@@GlebTi excellent. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it 😊
What brand do you suggest for cod liver oil?
Ok, so the title of this video is, "I took Omega-3 Fish Oil For 30 days. Here's What Happened": well, apparently fish oil doesn't help with cognitive function because he didn't mention a thing about taking fish oil for 30 days.
And here you are performing mental gymnastics to justify not trying it. I have been recommending a tablespoon of cod liver oil per day for a decade and have seen many perform these mental gymnastics to justify not trying it. Common sheep behavior
@@WisconsinEric Umm, you read something I did not write, therefore, you're the one doing the mental gymnastics. I was commenting on the title of the video and whether or not it was addressed in the video, which it was not. You have no idea by what I wrote whether or not I take fish oil. I tend to agree with you though on the benefit of taking of it as they did in the last couple of generations.
@@pearlyq3560 Dr Berg has been recommending cod liver oil for years sweetheart. Here you are refusing to try it for 30days. If you had, you would already know
