*raises hand slowly, slightly embarrassed* I'm the one that plays while you're talking...but I'm still listening, I'm just like, doing stuff to keep my hands occupied, and I turn down the guitar so I can clearly hear everything you're saying... Like, the guy who taught me how to play guitar, he would sometimes fuss at me for playing while he was talking. And btw, it wasn't like, a professional guitar teacher that I paid to learn, or my parents paid for me to learn, it was the youth pastor at my church, he played guitar during service, and he taught me bass, after about 6 months he said that I had gotten good enough that he me gave the bass that I had been learning on, after he restrung and put some decals on it, my name, nickname, and a cross, and he told me that it was his first bass guitar, and I could tell that he took good care of it because it's still in great shape. Then after a while, he started teaching me acoustic guitar
There's also the rare student that is super interested, and just has the natural gift for it. I'm very lucky to have one of those right now for bass. The guy was playing fucking Yes before he even came to me and he didn't even know his scales, his ear is unbelievable. The dude picked up the whole major scale in like two weeks and is flying now. He basically already had the ability, I think he just needed someone to coach him.
Every time one of my students gets obsessed with soloing and it’s way ahead of what we’re learning, I give them a basic introduction to the pentatonic scale and chart it out for them - and then I tell them to go and write me a basic solo for homework.

3:00 one time my dad started yelling at me about my grades and other stuff I messed up on the way to my guitar lesson and I accidentally cried in front of my teacher and he just started improvising because he likes to make theme music for people’s lives
"So this is a D minor..." most appropriate chord for that situation.
Just wait until you get the student who tells you "Your eyes are beautiful. I'd like to gouge them out and put them in a jar so I can look at them all the time." (Actual line said to me, by a student (who was also my girlfriend))
Self taught gang wya
Now do every kind of guitar teacher.
4:22 sounds like someone was about to steal a guitar in the background
This is giving me flashbacks from when I was first learning guitar
The “never in tune” student makes me low key glad that I made it a habit to tune my guitar before I go for lessons
Yeah dude same. I play really quiet just because I have a weird need to be playing but I'm listening intently
@JBlake plays and @Todd: sounds like AD(H)D to me (not an offense, I'm serious :))
I had "Smelly" and "Slightly Inappropriate" ...TEACHER!
Mr. Music was awesome in the 90s and it still is.
This channel sure knows how to give beginners a complex, this is like the 4th video over seen having a go at beginners
''....so...this..is a D minor..'' I'll steal that one!!
I'm the guitar student who is focused and listening and practicing
