That’s why I shop local. The store near my house is great; cool, helpful staff and they don’t even get pissed easily if you play Stairway. My local Guitar Center is awesome too but the experience there is nowhere near the shop by my house.
They should have a _Smoke on the Water Day_ where everyone who is within reach of any instrument (guitar preferred but not limited to), or just a tennis racket, broom stick or air guitar if nothing else, all play just the one riff. Not any of the other parts, just that one riff for like 5 minutes straight (lols). Then we will have something mutual to complain about and there will be peace and unity all across this beautiful world.... it is a dream I have.
Although this is far less impressive considering the circumstances, I went to a guitar store, and didn't even touch a guitar except when carrying it out. Didn't play it at all until going home. Also the guitar center I went to is still fully functional, just with a people limit of 4, mandatory masks, and a condensed store
I was demoing an amp at Guitar Center and the associate asked "is that loud enough?" and I was like "eh, I don't need the whole world hearing how bad I am" and the dude was abolutely thunderstruck, like he'd seen a ghost.
Yea, but they have some assholes in Canada too now, lols. It's not like in the days when Niel Young, Rush, Donald Sutherland and William Shatner were the few people we knew from Canada. But although they are generally much more polite, that doesn't always make them generous or concerned with the welfare of others. Take jordan peterson for example, that guy is a straight up asshole. Most Americans I know are a lot more polite than he is too, lols.
I'm learning and I can't wait to be able to just pick up a guitar and play something awesome without really thinking about it. Always looks so cool to me!
Same here brother. Hopefully you find the same joy in the journey to getting there. In the meantime, lick by lick, chord, note and scale, we get closer to satisfying our own ear. It really feels like an endless task. Good thing I enjoy it.
Hmm, something makes me think you're better than you let on. Usually it's the most thoughtful of people who end up being the most talented. It's sort of necessary really. If not, then just practice and *only* compare yourself to your yesterday-self. Then as long as you have a love for the instrument, you be really good soon.
Kjartan Johansen we should do musical product reviews, like play new pedals to show people that are at our level how it will actually sound when they play it 😹
I've been to Chesbro Music in Idaho Falls multiple times. Grew up over there. Great guitar store! They have a great selection and great prices. Glad to see you went there. It is hard to get employee assistance though they're never around lol
I don’t know any guitar store where that would happen. If you’re worried about being bad all the time, you wont get better. Every good guitarist at some point was at the same level you’re at right now.
I used to be like that when I was first getting into guitar, maybe 6 or 7 years ago. But eventually I just realized that it was only the start that was super awkward, once I got into it my confidence was normal again. So now I can care less, I set that amp to my settings, volume 3, bridge position, and whoever does hear me is welcome to, here goes the entire Holy Wars rythem track lol
I mean, I don't talk out loud to myself when I go into a guitar store, but two of those are true for me. There was that one time I went in and specifically ONLY played a bass - when I spotted a vintage Mosrite late-60's bass hanging on the used gear wall (and I do wish I'd had the $1,600 to buy it at the time). And, 9 times out of 10 when I do go in, I do ignore the guitars if I'm just there to buy strings.
The ultimate: "This looks good, is it fine for a beginner?" "The Marshall JCM 900 stack? Yes, it's a classics for beginners!" "I were talking about this guitar actually" "Oh, the Gibson Custom Shop? Indeed, that'd be a great deal for you. But let me show you the PRS section, too"
Cory Brotherton I expect you to own up, son. What if zombies were to hit us right now? Are you gonna be a wimp when it’s time to play the killing game and help save humanity?
I literally switch back and forth between guitar and bass in GC all the time. When I see a hofner, or Rickenbacker bass, I can't just walk by without playing it. Same with SG basses.
I never realized how popular it is for people not to tune their instruments unless its noticeably out of tune... I tune every time just out of habit and it makes me really happy to hear it in tune
The pick part reminded me of the time I loaned MY pick to the Guitar Center employee that I encouraged to try the guitar I was testing. He pocketed it and I was like "uhhhhh.. hey.. can I have that back?"
The first time I went to a guitar store, I was really nervous at first because I tend to get anxiety near strangers. I walked in and all of that anxiety disappeared. There were guitars, basses, drums, pianos and much more and I spent a good hour in there even though I only came for some bass strings
On that last one, I went in a store about a month ago after years of not playing. Walked around, looked at guitars, didn't pick one up. Bought picks (still had a couple packs of strings from before) and went home lol. Given those years ago, I probably would have picked up a guitar.
"You dont think I'm I too loud?" "...no I can't even head you.." "I dont wanna disturb you, I don't wanna be rude" "..what are you talkin about" *"y-ya know what, would you like a thousand dollars?"*
I recognized the store this was filmed in! Chesbro’s music, Idaho falls ID, I took piano lessons in the upper level of the store, roughly around this was filmed. I play mostly trumpet now though, which I bought from this store as well. Checked the description, and sure enough this is the place!

You meant 0-3-5, right?
They should have a _Smoke on the Water Day_ where everyone who is within reach of any instrument (guitar preferred but not limited to), or just a tennis racket, broom stick or air guitar if nothing else, all play just the one riff. Not any of the other parts, just that one riff for like 5 minutes straight (lols). Then we will have something mutual to complain about and there will be peace and unity all across this beautiful world.... it is a dream I have.
I’m the type of guy that whenever I see people picking up an instrument I start thinking “I hope they know how to play”
“I’m not going to play them though, I just came here for strings”
...you.. you maniac!
That just happened.

Although this is far less impressive considering the circumstances, I went to a guitar store, and didn't even touch a guitar except when carrying it out. Didn't play it at all until going home.
Also the guitar center I went to is still fully functional, just with a people limit of 4, mandatory masks, and a condensed store
@@coltz-pun7871 My local GC is fully functional, just masks and 2 person limit in the acoustic room.
If I'm just there for strings my dad would get the strings and we leave so even if I wanted to I couldn't

This video should just be called "canadian guitar stores"
As a Canadian can confirm this is an accurate portrayal of guitar stores in Canada
What is this supposed to be, a canadian guitar player?
Yea, but they have some assholes in Canada too now, lols. It's not like in the days when Niel Young, Rush, Donald Sutherland and William Shatner were the few people we knew from Canada. But although they are generally much more polite, that doesn't always make them generous or concerned with the welfare of others. Take jordan peterson for example, that guy is a straight up asshole. Most Americans I know are a lot more polite than he is too, lols.
Stevie T?
As a canadian guitar player, I can confirm.
Stevie T is Canadian
As a Canadian guitar player, I can confirm I do most of the above.
I'm learning and I can't wait to be able to just pick up a guitar and play something awesome without really thinking about it. Always looks so cool to me!
update? :D

You and me both, brother! :(
2 years into playing and i still keep it quiet cause i dont want to disturb the salesman. I also always buy if i go in there

A phrase I've never said in a guitar store: " wow! I can actually play well"
I’m wayyyyy too awkward to *ever* see myself actually going to a guitar store. I feel like I’d be judged and low key bullied the whole time lol.
I don’t know any guitar store where that would happen. If you’re worried about being bad all the time, you wont get better. Every good guitarist at some point was at the same level you’re at right now.
I don’t see that happening in any store, actually, regardless of what they sell.
Nah, they’re all usually hella chill
They make commission. They aren't going to drive off a customer when that's their money. They're going to do everything to make you feel welcome.
"Oops, I broke a string on this guitar. I should tell an employee and not just hang the guitar back on the wall."
"I will buy a pack and replace all the strings"
Legend has it that Tyler is still looking for a tuner to this day.
The ultimate:
"This looks good, is it fine for a beginner?"
"The Marshall JCM 900 stack? Yes, it's a classics for beginners!"
"I were talking about this guitar actually"
"Oh, the Gibson Custom Shop? Indeed, that'd be a great deal for you. But let me show you the PRS section, too"
Your channel is so wholesome. Rock on, brother!
"Hey, can you play louder please ? I almost can't hear you."
I’ve literally done that last one. Anxiety of playing in public

@@rallypoint1 noo you're supposed to argue
I literally switch back and forth between guitar and bass in GC all the time. When I see a hofner, or Rickenbacker bass, I can't just walk by without playing it. Same with SG basses.
I’m glad I came with you. It was totally worth the three hours of my life watching you look and touch everything.
Not to get political or anything, but what's a tuner?
Ha
I think this is a joke lol
Tuner tunes what needs to be tuned.
A fish
A device you use to tune a string to the right note
Many were good! But putting the pick and the guitar in place, turning off the amp and wrapping up the cable... That was hilariously true!! 🤣🤣
I never realized how popular it is for people not to tune their instruments unless its noticeably out of tune... I tune every time just out of habit and it makes me really happy to hear it in tune

Something I never heard before in a guitar store, “Do you have any discounts?”
The pick part reminded me of the time I loaned MY pick to the Guitar Center employee that I encouraged to try the guitar I was testing. He pocketed it and I was like "uhhhhh.. hey.. can I have that back?"
Employee: “Let me hear Stairway to Heaven”

The first time I went to a guitar store, I was really nervous at first because I tend to get anxiety near strangers. I walked in and all of that anxiety disappeared. There were guitars, basses, drums, pianos and much more and I spent a good hour in there even though I only came for some bass strings
The "putting it back where it once was" is truly what you will not see everyday.
"I don't even play guitar"
They usually have drums there, lol
There ARE beginners who want to learn, and need a guitar. I was one of those.
Sometime its just fun ti browse all the different color guitars
We’re feeling generous and charitable today. Pick a guitar, any guitar. It’s yours... no charge.
"I'm going to play the most budget friendly guitar in here! No need to try out these $3000 guitars..."
On that last one, I went in a store about a month ago after years of not playing. Walked around, looked at guitars, didn't pick one up. Bought picks (still had a couple packs of strings from before) and went home lol. Given those years ago, I probably would have picked up a guitar.
"I think the Acoustic is more my jam than this electric guitar, I'll make my way over there..."

Something you never hear in a guitar store: "I wonder what Stairway to Heaven sounds like on THIS guitar"
I was resisting this channel for a long time but this one got me
"You dont think I'm I too loud?"
"...no I can't even head you.."
"I dont wanna disturb you, I don't wanna be rude"
"..what are you talkin about"
*"y-ya know what, would you like a thousand dollars?"*
" I was going to find something a little more expensive..........."
“I can play that one part of eruption, but I won’t.”
I recognized the store this was filmed in! Chesbro’s music, Idaho falls ID, I took piano lessons in the upper level of the store, roughly around this was filmed. I play mostly trumpet now though, which I bought from this store as well. Checked the description, and sure enough this is the place!
