That's probably more of your nostalgia talking. I remember when I was a kid and all the adults around me thought she sucked at singing. My older sister, who is Miley's age, even thought she suck. It's all about demographics and appealing to them and thus having that their nostalgia. Hell, it's why it's so hard to actually create original work without it being dismissed by an audience or being unable to sell it.
@@TheLillkill the artist that can stand on a stage unaided by manufactured noise and just belt their songs are few and far between. I respect her craft, and because she has such a distinctive tonality, I’m drawn to her.
I’m surprised it took her parents so long to notice something amiss. But that makes sense because they also were under a contract, going everywhere, trying to manage a family, and acting all at once. I’m just surprised Miley didn’t have a bigger “meltdown” considering how overworked she actually was
Apparently her father wasn’t the good supporter he been portrayed to be. They don’t even talk atm. He pushed her too far and was the one who probably kept her actual meltdowns hidden 🥴 I thought better of him till lately. (Btw if this is mentioned in the vid, I haven’t gotten that far yet😂❤️)
Her father didn't really care about her or her well being. He saw an opportunity to piggyback off his failed singing career and threw his daughter in head first. He knew that his career was literally nothing but a joke to everyone else. He knew that Miley was way more talented than he could ever hope to be and he forced her to be his cash cow. Just like a pageant mom, he wanted to live vicariously through his child.
@@ThemedNumber02 Yeah, wish they talked about that too. They don’t follow each other on IG and probably not other places. It’s really weird for a father to be like that.. But hey, look at Britney 😵💫
I don't quite know how it looked back then (I was more on the HSM side of Disney Channel than Hannah Montana), but just seeing those clips of her as a child... To me, it looks like she did everything she could to get her father's approval and so she did what she could to live his dream for him. Whenever she performed something when she was little, she seemed to look around for approval, and she most definitely wasn't always comfortable. Like when her dad took her to that show where it was the interviewers birthday, she looked so uncomfortable to me. Like, even before she became Hannah, I feel like her father didn't give her that much time to be a child, because he knew that a little girl can be popular and help his career (why else would you take a baby on stage, that can barely walk, much less actually dance?). Most of the time it was an adult telling her something like "you want to sing now for all these people, right?" And her father especially seems like he spoke a lot for her: SHE gets asked how she feels about ticket brokers selling her concert tickets for really high prices and HE immediately answers how bad THEY feel and how sad Miley is... It looks like, since she had talent and charisma, she barely had a chance not to get pushed into show biz (at least by her father). And it's a real shame that the mother didn't raise concerns until Miley actually got anxiety attacks and other health problems, that's hard to understand for me...
When Ellen knew mariah carey was pregnant- she knew she was also a rrcovering alcoholic. So, to get her to publicly spill the beans she placed wine infront of her and asked her questions.
ellen is going for views and is the opposite of the nicest hoast of the usa. my dislike for her grew to an utterly new level and i often wonder... how's portia?
If Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato can get a documentary, I think it's due time for Miley to get one as well. She seems to have so much more to say, and I think we all want to hear it.
@i Simple example for you. Selena’s doc is through Apple, which is now owned by the VanGaurd Group, which is actually one of the top share holders for … take a guess …… Disney. So… that’s why, Miley doesn’t need a documentary, unless she produces it herself. She’s DONE with Disney. Completely DONE with them. Why would she make a documentary that would just make them more money off of her?
@Komi Nah. They don’t have a backbone cause they want you to think their “done” with Disney yet who did they just give money to? Oh. Wait. Take a guess. DISNEY. They are both wealthy enough they could of released those documentaries on their own, but they went though Disney…. Supposedly “the evil one”. 🤣 Miley said fuck Disney to the point she released and entire album on her own to prove she was fucking ddoooonnnneeeeeeee with them.
@@joanna7350 he should be thanking hannah montana since he met his new fiance there! It's sad, parents will do or sell their kid any way for it to them to be a Disney plant
@@JaneDoe-ob9dr someone in here said they probably had plans for her since she was born and I agree, evidentiary from them always toting her around on shows and interviews and shit when she was a baby and a little kid. why not take Braison? they had no plans for him. and billy ray isn't even a father to Christopher. at least that kid is an attorney and is capable of making it on his own. and I agree with that... they wanted to piggy back off of her because billy ray kind of faded into obscurity after achy break heart. I also think the whole pole dancing, salvia, 2013 vma behavior and the way she is now is her acting out... kind of like britney did but Miley's own version.
@ginah.6243 I feel like her parents were more of a friend to Miley than actual parents. They kind of remind me of Kris Jenner. I remember people back in the day (myself included) would criticize Miley for growing up too fast and behaving weirdly. Now I’m staring to learn that it wasn’t completely her choice and her strange antics were a way of her coping.
They knew from the time she was born, that she would go into acting/singing. Her becoming a celebrity was not by chance. Every interview she looked like a show pony. And yes Miley did say if she ever had children, she would never do what her parents did to her. Quite sad.
Let's also realize that these parents DO want the best but also are exploited by other big companies. They think it's just hard work and will pay off but it seems to me billy is very aware and doesnt know how to really help her.
@@foralcoraland she reached a certain fame that her dad never did, and at a much younger age. I wonder if her dad had any jealousy over her and that’s why he seems to be estranged from the family
Miley and other Disney girls had to suffer so much. When she broke her Disney image and everybody was dragging her down I thought She was cool, she was expresing and experimenting, as she should be doing. I never understood the amount of hate that she recived, specially when she did the photoshoot, se HAD to go out and apologize for a quite normal photo... I'm glad she is doing ok. She is a talented artist I respect her so much.
Right? I honestly was so disgusted by the flack she got for not only that photo, but her VMA performance w Robin Thicke. Why on Earth was the barely 19 year old being slandered while the grown ass married man grinding all up on her got thru it unscathed? That was disgusting. She’s much younger than me, but we share the same birthday so I get her lol.. I’m just really glad people have finally started to understand how messed up our society really is in regard to the way we’ve treated people in the entertainment industry. Particularly women and children.

@REAL CRAZY CRITIC Sounds like a parenting issue. People expect child stars to stay wholesome for their children, that is waaaay to much to expect from a complete stranger.
Watching this I actually feel bad for supporting Hannah Montana so much. Through the years I've learned how overworked she had been, but this definitely makes it clearer. I'm just so grateful that she has been able to recover slowly from that time of her life and that she is okay now. There truly needs to be a change in these kid entertainment companies, the producers don't know how to deal with children at all.
The innocence that allowed you to watch Hannah Montana freely and without worry is the same innocence that companies use to take advantage of children, like Miley. Don't feel guilty, kids on both end of the spectrum are targeted for profit. Feel angry that Disney knowingly warped reality and made it believable for the sake of profit.
You were a child, don’t feel bad. Hannah Montana was pure escapism for me, a safe space I could go to in my abusive home as a kid. I’m grateful the show existed and grateful for Miley sacrificing her childhood for millions of other kids. As an adult I feel for her and feel upset that Disney and Hollywood took advantage of her like that. The best thing I can do to make up for it is to support Miley 100% so that she has the support of her lifelong fans to be able to self produce her own works of art which has been her goal for a while now. You can be grateful and sad for something at the same time but you as a kid had no control over it. It was the adults responsibility to protect Miley and they failed her.
@@-valmetal- reporting my comment for hate speech?! Just because I said people don't have to conform to having kids because society says... And I'm the weirdo... ok! 😂 As Thom Yorke once said... I'm a creep... I'm a weirdo...
It’s so weird seeing a mini documentary on something I lived through as a kid. 😭 I was obsessed with Miley. I feel so bad now realizing that she was being overworked behind the scenes and made so many sacrifices to create many young childrens’ childhoods. Also, that was a super loaded question that Ellen asked Miley at that age? I’m glad her dad jumped in to answer that for her 😳
Yeah, a lot of mega popular Disney Channel girls were treated horribly. It's sad to hear about. I'm actually grateful that my parents didn't hear about most of these controversies and therefore didn't force me to stop watching these stars
😂😂yeah seeing anything related to your childhood is very weird. It’s horrible how the industry exploits children, and Disney is a hoe for the mistreatment of the child stars.
@@naturazpolski9213you know it started was helping long before y2k disney & on other networks as well aaand STILL going on so it wasn't a knew thing or something that's no been magically abolished. it's 2024 and todays child actors are still being groomed mole sted etc so get off your high horse

And the thing that’s so saddening, is that Miley adored him. You can tell how much she loves her father by how she speaks of him. All she ever spoke about was her dad in those interviews, she praised her father and wanted his approval. He took advantage of that.
I was the main demographic of viewers during this era of Disney.I remember you couldn't go anywhere without seeing Hannah Montana all over in the kids section.I use to watch many disney shows and watched Hannah Montana included and I remember Cyrus Bangerz era including the infamous VMA performance which I can't wait till this is mentioned.I never realized how she was paid way less compared to other disney stars despite having the most popular show on Disney Channel at that time and a sold out tour.
Right! I’m born in 2000…24 years old now and it’s wild to think back on these times, I was obsessed with Hannah Montana and I remember my mom getting me her dolls or merch! It’s sad to know what she went through during this part of her life:( learning the truth of the industry is such a childhood ruining thing, can’t imagine what child stars go through.
I don't think there has ever been a time where the divide between person and character has been so non existent for so long. No wonder she wanted to have a clean break, I can't imagine growing up with that much pressure. I'm so glad that she can look back with such insight into everything that was wrong with how she was treated.
You make great videos. Never stop. This woman was TORTURED as a child, and even her parents - her FAMOUS parents - wanted it. I'm glad she's thriving on her own.
@REAL CRAZY CRITIC I meant to say it's not usual that parents of child actors or singers would support this kind of exploitation, normally either the parents or the producers do it themselves, it wouldn't be both ways. I would say the same thing on a video about Jennette McCurdy, her recent memoir says that a certain Nickelodeon producer abused her on set, and her mother was an accomplice. The book is called I'm Glad My Mom Died for a reason.
Disney owe Miley and so many other child stars a massive apology, so many of them now struggle with their mental health and it’s really sad to see. What we thought was a magical company was nothing but them exploiting children, im so glad that Miley broke free and is now able to do what she wants
yes and the world owes Miley an apology as well for the way they reacted and treated her when she was getting away from her Disney image and being what a real life teen looked & acted like. as she said, to them she was HM and they couldnt stand that she wasnt the character they had in their heads, but a true human with her own personality. controversial but i think her being wild was the best thing she couldve ever done cus if she wouldve folded to the expectations she def wouldnt he who/how she is today and likely truly messed up like the other child stars that didnt have a way out similar to what happened to Amanda Bynes even tho its a diff situation ofc [i love her and glad she's doing better these days]
@@r.22r it doesn’t look like it. miley unfollowed her dad on social media after he got engaged to a girl who’s only 28 years old. she’s younger than miley… and they met on the set of hannah montana which makes it even weirder. she would’ve been a teen at the time. he’s changed drastically over the years which sucks because he always seemed like a nice guy.
It’s so hard to hear how negatively this affected her because as a kid I LOVED her and Hannah Montana as a show. Dressed up for her for Halloween, had school folder/notebooks of her, listened and watched the show, she just shaped so so many children’s lives
I remember someone telling me back then they went to the concert. I asked how it was. She said awful, she sounded horrible. I was shocked. But seeing this, I can understand she never had a break and she said herself she wasn't trained.
This episode was amazing. I was a huge Miley fan and it’s crazy to look back at that chaotic time in her life that to us was entertainment. I feel the same way about Selena cause she of course was also a huge star at the time. Her documentary On Apple TV is really eye opening.
Miley is misunderstood. She had no choice but to break free almost quite literally. This is eye-opening. We see so many child stars burnout, give up, go broke, and worse....They're taken advantage of and feel stuck. Miley BROKE that mold. She cannot be tamed.
I CANT TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THIS ONE! Y’all put out such great content!! Hannah Montana defined my childhood and I was even Hannah Montana for Halloween this year! She is so iconic
Honestly, I think the main reason Miley Cirus didn't have a giant meltdown moment like most of her counterparts is because she had so much family in the business that where able to help her through it
It's hard for me to accept that a part of the best years of my life is based on another kid's exploitation, it is really disappointing. But I'm glad this episode of her life is over from what it seems.
The fact that Tish was actually underage around the time that she and Billy Ray met is shocking to me. But Miley smiling and winking in the interview while her mom was talking is so cute!
I grew up with both, I had an older sister who was a huge Britney fan so when I was little everything was Britney, then Miley was more for my age and I grew up with her too so my heart is broken for both of them.
This was a great documentary. My heart goes out to her. I was a huge fan of hers as a child of the 00s and its surreal to relive it through this video & learn so much about what life was truly like for her. May peace & healing wash over her everyday. Im so glad she is FREE now. That was heartbreaking to here her say she has nightmares about being called back by her contract. Sickening how they exploit those children.
Why did Ellen ask Miley how she felt about ticket scalpers messing up tickets for some of her fans? She was a kid just doing what she loved and was good at. She had no control over the ticket scalpers anymore than Taylor Swift did. This is one of the many examples of stars being overworked and having super high expectations for them. No wonder she was under pressure.
Billy Ray Cyrus circa 2005 had nearly no serious star power 😂😂 his connections may have gotten her in the audition room, but the decision to cast her was all due to Miley’s talent and charisma
He didn't have any star power 😂 People these days see him now after what his daughter did and just assume he was famous and she was his prodigy. But she literally made him famous.
Wow after watching this i realize how humble her beginnings were. From her father suddenly becoming an overnight sensations, and her continuing his legacy despite knowing the harsh realities. I'm glad she's still here and being who she really is
It really hit me when y’all mentioned that her mom wanted special lights to help with her health 😢 glad her parents did something (like trademarking her name and stuff) but that’s so sad
Really? I didn't know this. When I worked in a nursing home, the nurses had to work 5 days a week 12 hours. 7am-7pm shift was the busiest and the night nurses were more relaxed after 10 pm because the patients were sleeping (except for the ones with behavior problems like Alzheimer's disease that wander during nighttime). The nurse aides were the ones changing diapers, reminding patients and nurses about the medications and cleaning/doing whatever the day shift didn't have time to do because they also have to feed and exercise patients during the day.
I'm 40 and my son is 16 so I never really saw Miley Sirus as anything than an annoying pop star with her tongue hanging out of her mouth all of the time but I now have a completely new found respect for that women. Its a shame her parents didn't see how much Disney was taking advantage of that little girl.
I used to watch her with my best friend even in high school. We would call each other on the phone and watch Hannah Montana every week until the series ended.
Miley just suffered to panic attacks and anxiety at her last concert at Mexico. I love her since I was 11. I always wanted her life back then. But today with 25 I’m more than happy that I didn’t had this life. People like her and Selena are already exhausted with 30, because they worked their whole childhood. It’s just sad and I hope the best for them.
I love Miley, she's so strong and she went through a lot but she continuous to be an amazing caring person to her fans and now she is true to herself. She is an inspiration.
My god, this was such a high quality production from start to finish. Thank you for showcasing the monster that is Disney Channel. Too many stars we know and love today were horribly overworked and, at times, flat out abused, and it is not okay. I fell victim to the narrative against Miley circa VMAs 2013, but thankfully, she's been able to let ignorant people like myself know that she was literally doing the best she could despite the circumstances. I'm living for this generation of grown child stars exposing the industry, and I hope they're able to make big strides in bringing the monsters down
It’s crazy that she was so young, she looked so much older that it was hard to imagine it was so hard on her, she is an amazing person and I would love to see her live, she’s just a next level amazing person!❤
I love how your ads are actually really fun to watch because they're borderline cinematic! Amazing editing as always. And I found you through BJ's channel!
she released her first album when she was still 13 and became the youngest person in history to debut her album at #1 on billboard hot 100. she has the second #1 album at 14 years old, the third #1 album at 15 years old and fourth number #1 album at 16 years old. she was overworked as hell. she became the youngest person on history to have 4 #1 albums on billboard.
Seeing her and her father just having fun together around the 18 minute mark made me cry 😢 Cuz thinking of that and the song they made together about her growing up 😭 I'm now sobbing.
The idea for Hannah Montana was a freaking goldmine. The mix between girl-glam popstar and sweet country girl next door... I can't really put it into words but there's something magical about that which resonated with young girls like me. I was obsessed with Hannah Montana for many years of my childhood. I did the best I could to imitate each of Miley/Hannah's little gestures, dance moves, clothing style, photoshoots etc. - I basically dedicated my whole childhood to her. I bought a wig and my friend and I would meet up weekly to play Hannah and Lola. We gave concerts in the basement. We even stopped singing in school because we didn't want to "get recognized". I felt on cloud 9 being pretending to have a double life. It was absolutely insane what this show did to me. HM is part of my life.
There is this stage in developmental psychology that kids go through when they wish/daydream that they are someone else. Usually a Prince & the Pauper type fantasy. Disney just cashed in on that. Which I don't know what is creepier. The fact that they abused children because intentionally or not no one looked at that schedule and went that is unreasonable for an adult let alone a 13 year old or that they are manipulating children for profits using their unavoidable mental development into an adult.
Oh god I am HERE for this. I was obsessed with Hannah Montana and joined UA-cam on my original account in 2006 just to find full episodes. But I became obsessed more with Miley than the show or character. Living for this exposé on the Disney machine.
After her VMA performance , i sort of hated her because I was also fan of Hannah Montana and this girl became my sort of role model. But now Feeling very sorry for her. At such young age she went through so much. More power to her !!
Ahh that was so well produced! Miley was my FAV growing up so I'm so happy to see you guys are finally covering her story and it's nothing short of crazy! Can't wait for part 2!!!
I truly truly feel so sorry for the life that she lived. People might think this is a dream, but it’s actually a nightmare what these children in Hollywood go through.
i really didn't know this was going on behind the scenes as a kid. i LOVED miley and hannah montana. it's literally amazing how good she sounded at like 12 years old. 100% part of her success is that she's good. she's a good musician. she has a beautiful and unique voice. no other disney star can top that. the only person i can think of that has a distinguishable voice is: raven and olivia
YAAAASSS finally I've been waiting for this for soooo many years, great video, Miley deserves so much more respect and love. Her and Kesha really are misunderstood legends 😔✊💖
These stories break my heart, all these child stars coming out to talk about the horrific things they encountered behind the scenes, not to mention it’s not ethical to overwork a child. I really wanted to be on Disney when I was a kid and I’m so happy mum didn’t let me do it
When my daughter was in third grade her best friend took her to a Hannah Montana concert and they went to the mall first cuz they were offering Hannah Montana makeovers. It was so cool. They got a wig and a little fake microphone too. It was pretty cool.
The intense media training, the turning her name and image into a franchise, the company's disregard for her emotional and physical wellbeing, the playing a persona in front of the camera, the concert tickets being sold out in a mere few minutes, the inhumane schedule, all at an egregiously young age and with very little pay...Sounds like Kpop 💀
Tbf all children in the entertainment industry have experienced harsh training just like trainees in Kpop companies, granted its more in the 1990-2000's range, since I think the government has implemented more laws to prevent this since the 2010's.
Damn, I really appreciate this work put into this info/bio video. I don’t know how this ended up in my feed but I’m glad it did. Being 5 years older than Miley I was a fan and supporter especially as she (literally) gave the finger to those who controlled her. I worried about her, didn’t want her to go overboard and get too into drugs & booze. I genuinely feel a lot better after watching this and I hope she continues on her road to happiness and controlling her own life. Thanks for this vid, it was very informative and I appreciate the editing and more meaningful clips. I feel differently about her parents as well. I hope she’s continuing to work on her relationships with them too, they clearly love her very much and it’s nice to hear the parts about her mom playing defense as soon as she caught on to shit.
Can’t wait for part two! I was a classic crazy Hannah Montana fan so seeing the behind the scenes is crazy-I’ll forever be grateful to Miley for making my childhood so fun
Thank you for taking the time to put this together so elegantly. I'm 28 and still love Miley Cyrus with all my heart, I remember when Hannah Montana came out and I imagined how cool it would be if my life was like that, instead of locked in my room alone every day. I have to admit, I get really hurt when I hear people talk about her negatively and make fun of her for things such as her wrecking ball song, etc. I appreciate so much the time you took to piece this together and validate her, the truth is we really have no idea what growing up this way did to her or for her. I will always love and admire her. **Side Note: I have always been specifically fond of her voice, growing up listening to country I fell in love with the tone of her voice. I always thought, she sounds like she has been through so much pain - but how hard could it be? Dad's Miley Cyrus, God Mother's Dolly Parton.. Thank you for answering my question, I think 12-hour days as a child and 20-minute lunch/nap breaks may be a piece of that pain.
Thank you so much for this deep dive, your segments are always so good, the subject matter and your presentation are flawless every time! I always felt so bad for her, you know she went straight from the womb to heels, and I really don’t think her parents had time to process that they were in over their heads with Disney. Her face was literally everywhere for YEARS....Disney milked that cash cow so bad and violated every child labor law in plain sight and it’s like no one stood up for her.
Disney completely avoided her and took advantage of her. The work load and lack of any time off was ridiculous, especially for a child. She deserved to be paid more, especially since she put in twice as much work with two different personas. I'm surprised it took her mother so long to realize it.
i remember as a kid wishing i was her, learning the lyrics to all her songs including the ones in the movie which i still remember to this day.. and as i learned more about what goes on behind the scenes of child stars i just felt bad that she went through that. i remember begging to go to her concerts but they were already sold out so my mom got me the BOBW concert dvd instead. When cant' be tamed dropped my mother hated it but i loved it and i still do listen to her music now but i'm also glad my mom didn't ban me from watching the show because of that song but she made it so incredibility clear that Miley was a terrible role model to me. It really does suck that people put that on her when it's not her job to be someones role model when she was just a kid herself.
Oh so grateful you covered this! I vividly remember the Hannah Montana years. Sitting at lunch reading about her leaked "racy" photos in 9th grade. I got the same green Juicy Couture hoodie she had 😂 I hope she is in a healthy place ❤

@@TheLillkill You probably already finished the video but literally no mention of shady ass Billy Ray Cyrus………
Ellen didn’t have to ask a child a rough question like that,I felt so bad when she looked over at her dad she didn’t know what to do 🥺
She tried to set my girl up lol
Yeah Ellen asked a lot of inappropriate questions throughout the years
Ellen was pure evil. Still is.
She doesn’t need a documentary to get out what she needs to say like backboneless Selena Gomez and Demi Levato.
@i Who do you think is a brand of the people the who funded the documentaries ? Think about it.
@i And JUST to sweeten it a little bit more…. Vanguard Group owns 7% of Disney, making them THE top share holder.
I blame her parents 100%. Her mom was her manager & her dad was in the entertainment business already. Both should have known better & protected her.
They did this to all their kids.
then her dad had the audacity to blame Hannah Montana for "destroying" his family.
@@joanna7350 he should be thanking hannah montana since he met his new fiance there! It's sad, parents will do or sell their kid any way for it to them to be a Disney plant

I also think the whole pole dancing, salvia, 2013 vma behavior and the way she is now is her acting out... kind of like britney did but Miley's own version.
@ginah.6243
I feel like her parents were more of a friend to Miley than actual parents.
Quite sad.
I wonder if she just wanted to be with and be like her dad, until she realised what it was like and how much work she was actually doing
@@foralcoral thats so sad
The amount of former child stars who refuse that life for their own children is eye-opening!

I feel the same way, all these shows I supported as a kid. Hell even like NSync all of those boy bands I supported.
You shouldn’t regret supporting Hannah Montana… if no one supported it she wouldn’t be where she is today
Well we were kids. So don’t feel bad!!
She had a lot of advantages in life but no one can say she didn't work her butt off.

Yeah, a lot of mega popular Disney Channel girls were treated horribly. It's sad to hear about. I'm actually grateful that my parents didn't hear about most of these controversies and therefore didn't force me to stop watching these stars

And the thing that’s so saddening, is that Miley adored him. You can tell how much she loves her father by how she speaks of him. All she ever spoke about was her dad in those interviews, she praised her father and wanted his approval. He took advantage of that.
What about her mother, she was managing her.
Good thing now is Miley cyrus is making it out there without being her dad's mascot she's her own person.

I don't think there has ever been a time where the divide between person and character has been so non existent for so long. No wonder she wanted to have a clean break, I can't imagine growing up with that much pressure. I'm so glad that she can look back with such insight into everything that was wrong with how she was treated.
Until Miley doesn’t make a documentary talking about her whole life… this video explains it the best.
Miley has done what even her dad couldn't do in all of his career. I feel like she made him even more famous as the years went on tbh.

I don't think Disney will because they're greedy 😂
Watching her and her dad when she was young makes me so sad to see where they’re at now.

Miley's personality, voice, and acting, are so iconic to me
interesting to learn that miley's parents weren't concerned about their daughter being taken advantage of until it became clear that she was underpaid
I know many people would love to see Hannah Montana played by other actresses, but Miley Cyrus really made Hannah Montana, she is the real IT girl
Honestly, I think the main reason Miley Cirus didn't have a giant meltdown moment like most of her counterparts is because she had so much family in the business that where able to help her through it
i agree, had her parents not been so protective she could have easily ended up in the same situation as britney.
I am interested who else have had a meltdown like macoley calckin or britney spears. I guess it's a burden to have fame...really frustrating
Getting worked that hard has to be soul crushing, especially at that age.
I agree
Well, childhoods are a new thing.... most kids on history worked like adults
We (my family) always thought she was on drugs becuase how she looked a lot of times in photos and a couple of interviews and how she acted.
The Miley stories always hit harder personally to me than Britney stories, because I grew up with her:(
I grew up with both, I had an older sister who was a huge Britney fan so when I was little everything was Britney, then Miley was more for my age and I grew up with her too so my heart is broken for both of them.
I grew up with britney so he story is the most devastating and heartbreaking to me
same i grew up with Miley. i had so much merch. even the wig. i was truly a FAN. so to hear of all of her struggles really saddens me.
Billy Ray isn't from Tennessee. He's from a small town in ky named Flatwoods. And Tish was his groupie. She even admitted it pretty much lol.
I’m sure Billy’s star power also had some impact on the decision to cast Miley for HM. She’s super talented, no doubt about it but yeah
i imagine there was someone on the inside (like a producer) fighting for miley in hopes billy ray will help their success
Billy Ray Cyrus circa 2005 had nearly no serious star power 😂😂 his connections may have gotten her in the audition room, but the decision to cast her was all due to Miley’s talent and charisma
that man was a one hit wonder, what star “power”
He didn't have any star power 😂 People these days see him now after what his daughter did and just assume he was famous and she was his prodigy. But she literally made him famous.

Wow after watching this i realize how humble her beginnings were. From her father suddenly becoming an overnight sensations, and her continuing his legacy despite knowing the harsh realities. I'm glad she's still here and being who she really is
It really hit me when y’all mentioned that her mom wanted special lights to help with her health 😢 glad her parents did something (like trademarking her name and stuff) but that’s so sad
The fact that nurses are only allowed to work 3 12 hour shifts a week and this child was doing this everyday at 12

I just found this channel and I have to say;
I am so impressed with the quality of editing and the amount of care you put into these videos.

Omg tysm!

She doesn’t talk to her father anymore he’s dating a girl he groomed from the show
This happens in K-pop too and people think it’s exclusive to K-pop. The entertainment industry is exploitative across the board.
It’s kinda cute she said “godmother” at 25:50 instead of “Dolly Parton” lol we love a humble queen

i really didn't know this was going on behind the scenes as a kid. i LOVED miley and hannah montana. it's literally amazing how good she sounded at like 12 years old.
I loved those Club libby lu places in the mall,
they were soooo much fun!!
The intense media training, the turning her name and image into a franchise, the company's disregard for her emotional and physical wellbeing, the playing a persona in front of the camera, the concert tickets being sold out in a mere few minutes, the inhumane schedule, all at an egregiously young age and with very little pay...Sounds like Kpop 💀
i wouldn’t say “very little pay” considering it was millions, but compared to what they made OFF of her she wasn’t fully compensated.
Tbf all children in the entertainment industry have experienced harsh training just like trainees in Kpop companies, granted its more in the 1990-2000's range, since I think the government has implemented more laws to prevent this since the 2010's.
They way Miley’s hair falls naturally is like the most gorgeous thing ever

I worried about her, didn’t want her to go overboard and get too into drugs & booze. I genuinely feel a lot better after watching this and I hope she continues on her road to happiness and controlling her own life. Thanks for this vid, it was very informative and I appreciate the editing and more meaningful clips. I feel differently about her parents as well.
I'm surprised it took her mother so long to realize it.
maybe because Tish wasn’t a businessperson
I know we’re talking about the darkest parts of these shows… but the nostalgia these videos give me is insane!!!
How does deep dive not have more subscribers 😭amazing content as always 💙
dang, this was so good. im so excited for so 2.
Disney will NEVER be the same. Thank you Deep Dive!
*ep 2
i remember as a kid wishing i was her, learning the lyrics to all her songs including the ones in the movie which i still remember to this day.. and as i learned more about what goes on behind the scenes of child stars i just felt bad that she went through that. i remember begging to go to her concerts but they were already sold out so my mom got me the BOBW concert dvd instead.
LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT FOR PART TWO THIS WAS SO GOOD YOU GUYS
Oh so grateful you covered this!
I vividly remember the Hannah Montana years. Sitting at lunch reading about her leaked "racy" photos in 9th grade. I got the same green Juicy Couture hoodie she had 😂
I hope she is in a healthy place ❤
I also recall watching in later seasons knowing she was ready to give it up I feel like she wanted to quit before the “Hannah Montana the movie”
i remember them too. one of my core memories was me in first grade OBSESSED and my two friends literally named hannah and lily got tickets to see hannah montana without me and i couldn't afford to go....fucking recession🙄watching this video is so nostalgic to me, those were the days fr
Wooow she was super overworked I work 8hrs as a waitress and I still complain those are many hrs of work
This channel feels like when I was younger and used to watch E! True Hollywood stories, but more contemporary. Super cool! Thanks !!
Omg Baby Miley sitting on her moms lap waving to everyone 🥺 she was so precious
I have been obsessed with her since the HM premier, felt like I genuinely grew up with her & experienced the child to adult transition alongside her. Her voice is the only true soundtrack throughout my entire life, & I look forward to enjoying her art in whichever medium for the rest of my life. I love her to pieces. Still jam to Hannah songs on the regular. I send all my love to her in her healing journey from her past struggles/trauma & can live & love peacefully. Thank you guys for doing this 💖
I’m binge watching this channel right now and it’s keeping my add brain from going into a deep depression. Thank-you for this tonight you guys! I’m a new fan😊!
Can’t wait for Part 2!! love you Deep Dive - incredible job as per usual ❤
The craziest part is most of the kids screaming at her concerts were the same age she was while performing on stage.
We need a deep dive on Millie Bobby Brown. She‘s like the Miley for this generation
I agree but.. I'm 25 Miley is my generation. Are you 15? 😂 Millie is too young to be "this generation" she's literally 18 that is an actual child in my view 😂
@@SaoirseByrne okay I'm kinda confused by your comment now- if you're 25 then you are gen z, which is this generation. Gen z is 12-25 years old which Millie aligns with.
@@fallenbee ok sure 😂 I just feel like someone 25 and 18 would have a few differences growing up. I would never date someone that young for example
@@fallenbee ok lol. I thought I was more young millennial as I was born last day of 96'. Thanks for making me feel younger! 😂
@@SaoirseByrne by this generation I mean teens nowadays. Like you were a teen during Miley‘s generation
You guys always find a way to do an interesting and catchy intro. I love it.
I didn’t like how Ellen asked Miley a question like that knowing how young she is that’s why your dad chimed in real quick and I respect that
when she’s doing interviews during hannah montana you can see just how tired she is omg i feel so bad for this girl.
even in her audition tapes she had such a little rock n roll to her voice it’s so evident 😭
Listening to her mom talking about her costume changes, and acting like it's some great bonding thing, it breaks my heart.
