Never forget how Megan Fox stood up for Vanessa at the time, saying she should never have to apologise for someone stealing and selling her pictures and "I hate Disney for making her do that... fuck Disney".

"Parents who rely way too heavily on television to find role models for their children were outraged" This is the best quote out of a whole lot of good reporting. Incredible job!
I was thinking the same thing. Whoever’s teaching their kids that ANYONE should be perfect needs to reevaluate. It’s just going to lead to your own kids feeling like they can never make mistakes either, just like Joe Jonas said from hearing the important people around him talking down on Vanessa. Plus in my opinion Vanessa didn’t even make a mistake, she felt safe enough to take those photos and sadly was taken advantage of by the way worse person in the situation.
I remember My mom was so mad about how they treated Miley. She kept saying... "When are they going to let stop blame little girls whose lives are ran by adults". I absolutely love her still.
My mom completely banned her from our house. I never grew up watching her movies or shows because of this. It makes me really happy your mom was so understanding 💗
I was a HUGE HSM fan as a kid, and I remember seeing the leaked pics, being like "ok" and just moving on. Nothing about Vanessa's image changed to me. I was around 8, 9 years old at the time.
I remember it, too. We were 12/13 at the time, huge HSM fans, and then boom. The photos were leaked. We remained HSM fans but she was ruthlessly slutshamed.

The way Miley paused knowing she could lie and not stick up for her friend but chose to protect her friend instead was wonderful. Women supporting women
Yeah and then just think about that news anchor that said that he hopes “Christians stop supporting her” (Miley) when she posed for that vanity fair mag. Good riddance to the generation that weaponized religion.
The whole “girl you gotsa keep yo clothes on” thing was SO UNCALLED FOR considering the fact that she took those photos at home and was sending them to HER BOYFRIEND of at least a year 😭😭😭😭😭 people were wildin out over young girls back in the day oh my word
I WISH she got up on stage and explained that/stood up for herself but I know things aren’t that simple especially when you’re ‘under control’ of Disney etc :( it’s so sad.
I agree with you but then there is the issue of cp, i dont fully know the situation whether she was hacked or whether it was posted by the person who received it but i guess ppl are just saying to young girls to protect themselves firstly over anything else, which is fair
I think men who ask their girlfriends for nudes are pieces of shit. Not blaming her, just disgusted how porn sick men are; no man who respects woman would ask for his girlfriend for nudes... Also would advise women to never send them. No judgement against her, I felt horrible for her when that happened. Sending nudes and self objectifying is never without consequences.
@@Hazexs7564 if she said it wasn’t a mistake, she would’ve gotten in trouble with disney. she stood up for her as much as she could under her contract.
@@Hazexs7564 Either she was a young girl who still thought that a woman/girl posing naked for a photo meant for herself and/or for her partner is “worse” than any crime out there, or she was a young girl who was scared and just didn’t want to have complications with Disney… And for the first possibility, even though it’s wrong to think like that, unfortunately it’s normal for girls, even now in 2022, to feel shame when they expose even a bit of their bodies, and feeling the need to hide because they are told over and over again that women’s bodies are nothing but sexually appealing objects in the eyes of men. I’ll never blame women, especially those who were born in the early 2000s, for believing something that the majority of women were brainwashed to believe. It’s only later in life that you actually realise how dehumanising it is.
It's disgusting how many fully grown adults in the media would rather rip an 18-year-old to shreds than protect the person and their privacy, and go after the hacker or person who's leaking that stuff. Disgusting.
The adults were absolutely REFUSING to say someone leaked her photos. They spent so much time saying how she took the photo and now it's online. They loved to blame girls for their own victimization

Boys and actual men were doing this all over the world at that time. I refused to send any pics of myself to anyone because I saw how abusive men behaved in that era. Even “church men” . It disgusts me to no end
The way these grown women reporters are talking about a teenager is disgusting🤢 not much has to be going on in your life to shame a child on television
The whole guy calling her out at the award show saying you gotta keep up clothes on was so uncomfortable and embarrassing. So gross of him to say that on stage how humiliating 🙁
He is such a creep in general. I've watched a show of him and it was just gross the way he spoke about women. Let's see the skeletons in his closet because I'm sure there are a few disgusting ones.
The other thing that gets me is the fact that they accused her of taking the photos in recent time. I’m talking about the first time the photos got out. When in reality, they were too dumb to look into WHEN the photos were actually taken. And when someone actually did, it turned out to be when she was still a minor 😂 so it makes them judging her for it all the more fucked up. I mean you’re literally shaming a CHILD. I honestly think the reason they shamed her for it so harshly without taking into account the fact that not only was she a minor when the photos were taken, but they were also LEAKED, is because of the ignorance surrounding how the internet works back then. It was still very new in 2007 and was just starting to become mainstream. I don’t think people knew it was possible for images to be stolen and used for exploitation purposes. They thought she posted or sent them somewhere for everyone to look at it. Personally, I don’t think it was ever anyone’s business what she chose to do with her own body, ESPECIALLY when you take into consideration that she was a minor. The real issue here was always the fact that someone wanted to exploit her on purpose. And these idiots from the 2000s were way too blind and ignorant to see that.
The fact that they all say “she did this to herself “ when these photos were maliciously leaked with mal intent couldn’t begin to comprehend in my mind. She was a NORMAL young woman, who’s photo gallery was clearly used against her in a ploy for the one who sold it to gain a monetary value. Love her poor heart..
I agree and it doesn’t help that Disney pushes this squeaky clean image on young people that are at the age that they are just exploring their sexuality, so when a leak like that does happen, it makes the young person look that much more guilty to the judging eyes of the public. Like omg oh no a DISNEY star dare to share a nude photo with her partner?! Disney stars have no sexuality they must be pure! Give me a break!
She did it to herself because if she never took the photos they never would have been released. Yes it's wrong for whoever hacked her and leaked them, and he should be charged, but reality is that if you don't take nude photos, nude photos will not be leaked.
Adults obsessed with naked teens (adult or no, 18 is a teen) is such a gross and weird part of the past. I remember when all these things happened and its wild WILD to look back on it now. She was a KID.
Omg I turned 13 in 2006, and so I was only 4 years younger than Vanessa. We all basically grew up together. I remember being devastated by how fixated the media was on the exploitation of young children, specifically girls. I was a victim of SA at 15 and I remember how much I was blamed for the actions of a 19 year old. There was very little - if any - support for us and it's so unfortunate that these victims are forced to apologize for the actions of their oppressors. It's abysmal.

And then want to say that young people or Gen Z are sensitive and get offended over everything but its like.....y'all are ruthless and disrespectful and don't even seem to realize it
Miley and Billy standing there in that interview defending her fills my heart with hope and love. Billy Ray “She’s a human being” You don’t see that very often in life, especially within that scene
I was cringing expecting Miley and Billy Ray to say something horrible (as was the norm in the early 2000s). But their response was surprisingly mature.
i thought the same thing!! i could feel myself like physically tensing up and bracing myself and it wasn’t even like a conscious thing and i was just waiting for them to say something that would make me cringe/uncomfortable but i was pleasantly surprised. good on him for teaching her that and for raising her in a way that allowed her to have such a mature outlook at such a young age.
Miley has always been mature and many interviews with BR in the past have shown he’s all about lifting people up. I wasn’t surprised but I was still pleased. I love that he wanted to block the question entirely because I’m sure as a dad of a teen girl, he wouldn’t love some guy his age commenting on his daughter in a similar position. If anything, Miley ran great interference with that question.
"that's her own fault" "she brought this to herself" bruh did they not understand the word "leaked"?? someone hijacked her by posting the photos online.. she's clearly the victim :(
It was widely speculated that she "leaked" them because it happened every time she had a movie coming out for a couple years. That's where that type of response was coming from.
@@fedem14 but they did, and this wouldnt happen if she didnt take the photos in the first place. i agree what happened to her was bad, but she played a part in this as well, she should take responsibility for her wrongdoing instead of just blaming it all to the publishers.

People own Vanessa a huge apology. It was a nightmare being her fan during that time, not because we were listening absurd things about her everywhere, but we saw how much she was suffering. I remember checking forums and websites every week and there she was going to therapy again. Secutiry guards, never alone, no smiles, no usual happy dances... Nothing. She was a puppy. It was consuming her and we were just watching it. And all this while WE were also growing up, it was a mess and they handle it very poorly.

she should've known better than to send N*des to someone. however, the media was in the wrong by making her apologize for being violated. Drake should be the one apologizing.
Well, the “should have known better” also is part of the digital age. Some of this stems from the ability for stuff to spread so easily, it should make you more cautious. BUT, you are right, it is a HUGe invasion of privacy for Vanessa, and Miley’s weren’t that bad. Maybe not the best judgement call for the magazine to put it in their issue, due to the Disney ties, but it was an artsy picture

NOOOO that interview with Ashley Tisdale!! I felt how uncomfortable she was. And the fact that he said "be comfortable" 🤮 god this reminded me of those times. It was incredibly toxic and it was SO NORMALIZED. What happened to Vanessa is disgusting! It happened to so many girls back in the day. Reflecting on the norms/standards of the late 00s and early 10s presented in this video, makes me understand why so many girls who grew up in those times went through some really horrible things, and at the hands of teenage boys who felt entitled to violate us.
I was gonna comment on that. It angers me how he's statement is like subtly encouraging Ashley to laugh at Vanessa when really she's just uncomfortable. There is nothing comfortable about it - about the question and about what happened to Vanessa. Being her co -star, she probably felt like she might become the next victim of something and probably is very much afraid. Smh.
Late 00's and early 10's...? Girl, it was happening to us in the late 90's, early 00's too, and it's STILL happening now. They can't be as blatant about it in the media these days, but in real life girls STILL have to watch their own backs just as much as they always have. For every five guys you meet, at least one of them sees you as an object put on this earth to take care of a man's needs. We STILL have to be teaching our daughters the tips for staying safe, and reminding them to be vigilant and to listen to their instincts when they're feeling uncomfortable. If anything, people feel more entitled now than ever before!
Dane Cook calling out Vanessa on TV and saying “gurl keep yo clothes on” was so unnecessary, super insensitive and people were laughing... disgusting. It’s not funny. Yeah, the media back in the early 2000's was relentless and disgusting. I think Vanessa handled this with a maturity beyond her years. It's really so sad that ADULTS were shaming young teen idols around this time. It's just horrible.
I guess that's because we were young to understand the real issue and actually how serious the situation. I only remember Miley because i was (still) fan of her and i remember thinking ''uh ok. why people so bad to her''. Because you don't see those pics (for example Miley) as sexual. When you're younger all you can say is ''they're bad and rude to her even it's not her fault. it's her private''. 'Cause of the image of Disney people find the way to attack teeanger and even parents don't see or tell their kids the truth they're not their tv characters. Looking back right now it's just crazy how the main social media was smaller and people saw and write everything.
Ashley being completely uncomfortable and being told “be comfortable” was so chilling. Everyone treated her so awfully. She was barely an adult! And a lot of those photos were just her trying to be cute and weren’t racy at all. And comments saying she needed this scandal because she was squeaky clean? People are disgusting. This wasn’t even that long ago, but it feels like public perception to these types of things has changed a lot.

That's because a lot of them believed she leaked them herself, based on their wording when they're talking about it lmao. Which is even worse because it was basic knowledge that she didn't.
I'll never understand why other women will throw young girls under the bus. I don't know if it's pressure from male co-workers, or jealousy or what. But that shit needs to stop. My heart goes out to teen Vanessa, this must of been so hard to go through.

It is so disgusting seeing how the media treated her. She was freshly 18! I was around 9 when those photos first leaked and then I was around 10 when HSM3 came out, but I do recall bits and pieces of that time period. As a kid, I viewed her being much older than 18. I remember thinking back then that she didn't do anything wrong and why the hell were people mad at HER for these PRIVATE photos?? I guess that just really shows you how Hollywood was back in 2008. It's so sad. It's so weird to view this time period as an adult now. I'm almost 24 and I just cannot believe society really treated her so poorly. I have never seen that interview where Miley speaks about the situation. It's really nice to hear her being so supportive. It's "wrong" because she was underage. I think a lot of people are confused about how the law works but legally speaking she could have gotten into a lot of trouble if she wasn't famous. Even though they were pictures she took of herself, she was still guilty of distributing child p0rn0graphy because she herself was legally a child at the time. @Julissa, honestly, I kind of agree. It’s showing respect to your body to not take nudes. With the way technology is changing and so insecure, pretty much anything on my phone can be leaked. However, ultimately it is the fault of the hacker who leaked the photos.

I can’t imagine the trauma those child actresses now have to live with as adults, being tormented and blamed for being exposed/violated in that way at such a young age. That would stick with you for life.
I remember this scandal like it was yesterday. I was 15 years old. Looking back at this story now as an adult, I couldn’t imagine the trauma she went through at such a young age.
@22:04 Dane Cook was absolutely GROSS and way out of line to publicly humiliate Vanessa on stage like that. An adult male saying something so crass to embarrass a young woman on national tv for something that wasn’t her fault is shameful. I’m completely creeped out and disgusted by his actions. Crazy how wildly and openly inappropriate young stars were treated back then (though I am aware starlets of all eras experienced this as well). 😒
Fo real it pissed me off. It sucks Vanessa was under Disney contract and control because with out a doubt i bet she would dissed all of their ass and stand up for herself
It’s heartbreaking that other young women were laughing and shaming her.And incredibly DISGUSTING that grown adults were so obsessed with if/when more photos were true. And the fact that people said that SHE leaked them is awful
The way she was only 18 years old... Poor baby she had to apologize for something that wasn't even her fault. The reporters who were talking about it are insanely disgusting, shame on them. I hope they look back with regret, esp after knowing she was 15 YEARS OLD in that photo.
I can't believe people actually blamed her or "well that's what she deserves" or "she should have known better". When you take a nude pic, it is for yourself or someone else. She did not chose to leak it, it wasn't her fault. It boils my blood. I would have though females would be more empathetic but that hosts was legit like "Someone finally told her, she deserves it" like wtf people.
As a grown woman I can say that as a teen I did a lot of stuff that I “should have known better” than to do. But that doesn’t mean that I necessarily had the maturity level to not do it. Ya know. I just thank my lucky stars we didn’t have cellphones back when I was that age. I had never heard of this story perhaps because my kids were too young (or a combo of too young and too old) and were boys that didn’t ever watch that musical but I feel very badly for this gal watching this. I agree with you that all the comments people said to and about her are just really ignorant. Unfortunately women can be the harshest of other women/girls.
People who looked up to these girls as role models have a weird definition of, entertainment. ...the fact they put so much pressure on these young girls to be perfect is insane.
Yeah a lot of the hate was from adult women angry that a kid wasn't being a perfect role model for their kid. Like that's YOUR job as a mother to be a role model for your kids. It's messed how that's STILL going on today. Parents angry their kids "role models" aren't being the parents definition of a good person. It's just dumb. How can any parent think it's anyone else's job to change their behavior and life around being a role model for some randos kids they don't even know. It's ridiculous
wow GO MILEY i’m so glad she spoke up about it even years later because she was 15!! She was a child and for people around her to tell her she did wrong and she should feel ashamed is outrageous. Proud of her and ashamed of every adult that looked at her in any other way other than a child.
But, Vanessa didn't leaked it. Why make her the villain? Jesus, the media is Harsh harsh. I wish Vanessa had healed from this traumatic experience and wish her thriving
It’s CRAZY how everyone cared she was naked but not how those photos could literally be CP!!!! You’re most likely, highly possible, part of a crime and everyone is more worried about what she shaved/didn’t shave, “proof” of how hot or not she was, and who she was sending it to. I felt so bad for Vanessa, and what’s worse? It was such common thinking. No one cared how it happened, who leaked what, who it was intended for, the issue is it existed and it happened. I think everyone knew with how the Pam incident went down years before, none of these females would be respected or cared for. I remember going to a back yard pool party for a neighbor and the birthday girl was turning 14, so puberty is starting to hit which means things are starting to swell, and one of the boys who was invited successfully untied the birthday girl’s bikini top. She was the one who got punished, not the boy who forced her clothes off. Even to this day with this whole feminism, woke, sexual liberation, etc, it still makes me weary or second guess what to wear. Edit: On top of that, if you had Vanessa Merch, like a HSM bag with her face on it while these “scandals” were happening, you would also be bullied. At least in my area, the fact I was 14-15 myself, I was also surrounded with kids my age with the mentality of not even knowing what a period was, and the time this was happening, you would get bullied relentlessly. And kids are mean when they want to be- the bullying got so bad in our area, specifically in schools, that absolutely NO HSM MERCH (whether it had Vanessa’s face or not) was allowed because too many girls were getting attacked, targeted, having items stolen or thrown at them, trying to have their clothes forcefully lifted to expose something or take an article of clothing completely off with no consent just to mimic Vanessa’s photos because clearly if you liked HSM you supported that behavior. Again, this is at least from my personal experience and witnessing what was happening in my environment. I hope it wasn’t this bad everywhere. I’m glad we’re progressing and showing sympathy nowadays. At least in Vanessa’s case she easily could have been a victim of CP, which again cannot be understated enough that CP is a vile crime, and instead of helping her, people mocked her for it and tried getting more.
@@ayelmqo yeah publicly I never went out in my HSM stuff. I would only use that when I’m home or around my family like I would use the HSM tote I had for sleepovers at my cousins. Even when I would walk out of the car just to walk in their house which isn’t even a minute, I would flip the bag around so you couldn’t see the HSM side- only the blank plain black side would show. I was honestly scared to let anyone in public see me with HSM.
The early 2000s and 2010s we're absolutely toxic for female celebrities. People like Britney Spears, Miley, Amy Winehouse... I mean the bullying and harassment from the media, the paparazzi, and everything was so overwhelming!!! I can't even imagine what these ladies went though back then.
Mileys parents always made sure she understood kindness, and controversy. Her father taught her that people make bad decisions sometimes but that doesn't mean who you are changes. Even thru her "crazy stage" her parents always stood up for her. Thank god she has a great support system unlike britney because black box was her and britneys security. They tried to get her parents to do to her what was done to Britney Spears but luckily they weren't falling for that crap!
Watching this in 2022 and about the same age as Miley, I remember just feeling so scared of ever showing my body. To hear that grown adult call her “scum” because a part of her back was showing? Just absolutely disgusting how much self-shame was pushed on to young women.
@@missmadness387 because society has always looked at the female body as pornographic well Men see it that way. Just look throughout history especially religion and it's probably the number one reason societies all over the world see female bodies in a sexualizing manner. Even in normal situations such as wearing a skirt or showing your back or shoulders, midriff etc: it's truly disgusting.
Still is, sadly. My middle school was strict as heck with the dress code for dress codes and so were my elementary schools. I’m starting high school this year, and luckily it’s a lot more chill. I’ve seen more girls wearing tank tops and crop tops this year!
This is absolutely atrocious. To trust someone with such a vulnerable photo of yourself when you're a literal CHILD and the thought of it being leaked isn't even a thought that crosses your mind. The fact that everyone was blaming her is disgusting.
I have new respect for Miley after seeing that clip. I truly can't imagine how lonely you would feel as a teen having the entire world demonizing and laughing at you for something out of your control. You're already so self conscious at that age. Miley's words to the press must have meant so much to Vanessa when she heard them.
Looking back, she really had to have a spine of steel to weather that level of scrutiny and ridicule so gracefully. Especially with the image Disney had curated for her at such a young age. :(
people blamed vanessa because they can’t bear to see a woman take autonomy of her own body and sexuality, which is exactly what those pictures were, an expression of sexuality, a private moment. people only appreciate a woman’s sexuality when it is non-consensual. when it is consensual, they find a way to demonise her.
Wrong. They were upset because it's a consensual distribution of child p0rn. It doesn't matter that it was of herself, she was still underage when she did it in the eyes of the law. She's luckily she didn't get into legal trouble, I know kids from highschool who got caught for sending pics and when the law got involved they had to register as sex offenders for harboring and distributing compromising media of minors. So, it's not harmless at all
@@xakashinax7182 no you're wrong, literally NO ONE in the media even mentioned it being CP. Vanessa was the victim and it was because she was a girl/woman that they wanted to make her a pariah. How do you even get the message that it was because it was CP when literally everyone demonized her and try to shame her, no one cared that she was underaged. That's one of the worst parts
It's crazy how anti sexuality or even just nudity people can be. I wish people wouldn't be scandalized or excited by such things. Wish people could just be like it's not meant for me, no interest, it's not a big deal, and ignore it. I'm glad things are changing for the better still
For adults, I completely agree, but children are already oversexualized and they need to be shown that these things aren't appropriate for their age. Part of that is controlling who their role models are, and when their role models slip up explaining it to them and making sure they understand what they did wrong.
This has a lot to do with the overt Christianity of this country and the way in which it has demonized women and fem -presenting people in every way. I'm native descent and when we were forced to convert to Christianity, one of the many harmful things that Christianity pushes is "purity culture", mostly aimed at young women and fem -presenting people. It's sad and disgusting, to be honest...
Idk how I feel abt teaching a kid to think that their role model made a mistake if their images were leaked without consent. Kids can be taught why certain things are only legal for adults to do. I don’t really get why it’s not age appropriate to tell them that something isn’t age appropriate for them. You could explain that some adults choose to send these photos but if you do it under 18 it is a crime. This seems like a great time to talk about boundaries and privacy, and explain exactly why the person who shared their role model’s private photos did something not only illegal but harmful. I don’t think this is in contrast with the need to protect children from sexual imagery or vulgarity, but it does leave less for a kid to try and figure out on their own.
And it’s specifically towards girls. You can only be the Madonna/whore complex and you’re seen as good (by men/patriarchy) if you’re not in charge of your sexuality and somehow men and other women can take or name you bad
I don't think that's a good idea from a child protection/exploitation point of view. There is also way more pressure on teenage girls to appear sexualized, so it's hard to know how much is purely what they genuinly want to do. Also children pushed to do things they don't fully understand, for the benifit of adults. The live & let live attitude is a nice thought but it's more nuanced than that & negligence breeds abuse.
The most disturbing part about this is, the women who were determined to bring Vanessa down were the same women who screamed and hollered they were abused by Hollywood men.
The entire situation of her photos being leaked made me sick to my stomach. The fact that everyone was blaming her and 40 year olds are gossiping about an 18 year old is absolutely disgusting. They made it her entire identity. She deserves a major apology
I feel like Vanessa’s nude photos were fake and were photoshopped by some creep to shame her and ruin her reputation. It’s just sad and cringe to thing that, but knowing how toxic Hollywood can be against teenage girls, it’s not that surprising. Think about it, she was freaked out she the photos were leaked without permission.
Miley said it best! It’s not Mileys, Vanessas, Britneys, Hilarys or Demis fault, it’s everybody else’s poisonous minds that were the problem, and these girls fell victim for their poison! Thank you Deep Dive for another awesome and important doc, I was thrilled and SO ready when I saw that this had came out! I’ve loved every one of your docs, so well made and researched ❤️ Looking forward to the next one! Love and rainbow ❤️🌈
I really like that you didn’t do this to shame her or the other girls. You made it to shame the adults who are maliciously speaking about these young ladies at the time. I’m so glad there are laws now to protect them. This is unacceptable for the media and adults to be so mean to young ladies. Thank you for this.
I have so much empathy for her. To go through this at beginning of the whole “nude” phenomenon, not only as a famous person but as a Disney star with millions of children fans. I could not have imagined going through that.
God this is making my blood boil. Why are they so FIXATED ON LEAKED NUDES SO MUCH? And suddenly it backfired to them and they deleted the photos when they found out that Vannnessa was underage at the time LOL im glad this would NEVER fly today. I cant imagine this happening to me.
It’s incredible to see how strong Vanessa has been through all this bs she had to deal with. She could’ve easily had a similar break down of someone like Amanda Bynes (first person I thought of) after going through all that. But she stayed strong and continued to have an amazing career. Good for her🥺❤️
Never forget how Megan Fox stood up for Vanessa at the time, saying she should never have to apologise for someone stealing and selling her pictures and "I hate Disney for making her do that... fuck Disney".

And for the first possibility, even though it’s wrong to think like that, unfortunately it’s normal for girls, even now in 2022, to feel shame when they expose even a bit of their bodies, and feeling the need to hide because they are told over and over again that women’s bodies are nothing but sexually appealing objects in the eyes of men. The mom and daughter at 47:10 were appaling, Even the 15 year old daughter called her a tramp.

So many people owe Vanessa an apology. She was treated terrible , exploited and way too many inappropriate chatter of a child.
also let's congrats vanessa she and Cole tucker just got engaged.
Exactly
People own Vanessa a huge apology. It was a nightmare being her fan during that time, not because we were listening absurd things about her everywhere, but we saw how much she was suffering. I remember checking forums and websites every week and there she was going to therapy again. Secutiry guards, never alone, no smiles, no usual happy dances... Nothing. She was a puppy. It was consuming her and we were just watching it. And all this while WE were also growing up, it was a mess and they handle it very poorly.
You don't owe her a apology. You did nothing wrong. You didn't tell them to do that. Like you said you were a kid yourself. What yall gonna do? If anyone should apologize it should be her parents.
I don't owe miss "it's a virus i respect that" a goddamn thing

I would say that ppl owe her an apology, ppl know what price fame usually comes with, it isnt a good price but it's a price, that's just how it is, one thing i will say is if she was a child actor her parents shouldve put more thought into throwing their child into a career like this
The pressure put on young girls…it’s sickening,

Well, the “should have known better” also is part of the digital age. Some of this stems from the ability for stuff to spread so easily, it should make you more cautious. It's disgusting how messed up early 2000s media was to these young stars, especially young women. The Dane Cook situation is infuriating and it enraged me when the woman was laughing saying "that was amazing. Finally, someone telling her what clothes are for..." Like wtf???
It’s especially ridiculous with Dane Cook considering the type of person he is.
Yeah and of course he’s now some middle aged man with a barely twenty something wife lol

If the person is underage then it is illegal to take and distribute whether they consent to it being taken or not.
I think sending nudes has become so common that people don't think much of it but it's techniquely illegal to do if you're a minor doing it.
I love how both Billy and Miley were supportive of her during a time when it seemed like everyone was against her. We love to see it ❤
But, Vanessa didn't leaked it.
@Diana H it says she was underage in this video...
@Diana H she was probably 14-15 when the photos were taken
I remember being bullied for wearing hsm merch in middle school, I never really knew why.
@Diana H Doesn't matter either way it is illegal. She was 18 barely an adult and still considered a teenager to most
The early 2000s and 2010s we're absolutely toxic for female celebrities. People like Britney Spears, Miley, Amy Winehouse... I mean the bullying and harassment from the media, the paparazzi, and everything was so overwhelming!!! I can't even imagine what these ladies went though back then.
The shocking thing is the amount of ADULTS and "PROFESSIONALS" that perpetuated and made the situation so much worse
They tried to get her parents to do to her what was done to Britney Spears but luckily they weren't falling for that crap!
lets be real mileys "crazy stage" was close to 100% calculated to get free from the disney image and to keep disney away from her
Watching this in 2022 and about the same age as Miley, I remember just feeling so scared of ever showing my body. To hear that grown adult call her “scum” because a part of her back was showing? Just absolutely disgusting how much self-shame was pushed on to young women.
literally how can you see that picture and think it has anything sexual to it... IT'S HER BACK😭
I hate how people over sexualize body parts, like shoulders or backs. Like everyone has these, why are women always stifled if they show theirs?
Yes! I'm over 30 now and was paranoid for half of my life that someone would possibly leak my nude photos so I didn't want to take them.
Same. I already loved Miley, but after seeing that clip, I have even more love for her. What an amazing woman
Miley has always been a genuine human being
@@evap.5121yes! what’s time stamp so i can go back to it

@@linatrogdon339015:23
Media around this time annoys tf outta me. If you’re looking for a teen to be a role model for YOUR kid then you’ve already failed as a parent
So fuckin true.
So, it's not harmless at all
@@xakashinax7182 But the fact of the matter is the energy was never kept with male stars. So no it isn’t wrong
Wtf are you talking about????
Okay we get it Miley was a good friend but let’s talk about the disgusting adults that shamed her for absolutely no reason
Miley was 15, thats disgusting! If she was 18 I wouldn't give a f***! Taking public photos that appear sexual in nature is called pedophilia.
literally all the comments are saying that
Miley said it best!
I’ve loved every one of your docs, so well made and researched ❤️
Looking forward to the next one! Love and rainbow ❤️🌈
crazy how the media shamed miley for having a sheet covering her but praised a topless zach efron
P
God this is making my blood boil. Why are they so FIXATED ON LEAKED NUDES SO MUCH?
And suddenly it backfired to them and they deleted the photos when they found out that Vannnessa was underage at the time LOL
im glad this would NEVER fly today. I cant imagine this happening to me.
This still happens you just never hear about it no more but if you look alot about celebrities you find out some sick stuff ...
Them pics are still out there tenfold.
the stuff she went through as a young adult. crazy how shes still in this earth with us. I would have kllld myself through all of that.
I don’t necessarily believe she sent any photos directly to Drake but I wouldn’t for a second doubt that he somehow got his hands on them.
I think the same
I don't believe that.
Drake is one creepy ass dude
Drake is a creep so I wouldn’t put that pass him at all
It’s incredible to see how strong Vanessa has been through all this bs she had to deal with. She could’ve easily had a similar break down of someone like Amanda Bynes (first person I thought of) after going through all that. But she stayed strong and continued to have an amazing career. Good for her🥺❤️
“She’s 15 she’s so young! (5secs later) she’s 15 she should’ve known better!” So which is it?
Y'all's editing is always crazy like wtf 🔥🔥🔥
