Going to the mountain pass triggers it because the trigger is basically "Leave EA Content." The mountain pass wasn't part of EA, so it triggers it. It's also why there's a warning message before you enter the mountain pass but not for Grymforge. Grymforge was part of EA.
If kagha has been killed or convinced not to go through with the ritual, will the druid grove then be destroyed if you go to the mountain pass (not all the way to act2)? (assuming the goblins remain alive)?
I didn't even know it was possible for the grove to be actually closed on accident
It is what the druids are doing with their chanting around the idol.

It will still be open, but the Tieflings will depart (and die).

So make sure to end the Goblin threat by killing the bosses and getting the Tiefling party before going into the Mountain Pass.
