How to Romance MINTHARA in Act 1 & Keep Wyll & Karlach glitch in Baldur's Gate 3

- Generally, you cannot raid the Emerald Grove and keep Karlach & Wyll as companions, but we found a loophole that lets us get Minthara hot and bothered in Act 1, without angering Wyll and Karlach. Unfortunately, Wyll and Karlach have to die temporarily and all the Druids and Teiflings kill each other. Have Wyll and Karlach spark the Druid Teifling conflict while the ritual is underway by either killing the interim druid leader Kagha or steal the Idol of Silvanius. Wyll and Karlach need to die in the conflict. Long rest. Then tell Minthara the location of the grove. Long rest. Meet her there in the secluded chamber. Invite her to a party at your camp and you got a new lover. The game glitches out and resurrects a chilled out Wyll and Karlach. You can fully recruit Minthara in act 2 by rescuing her from the dungeon of Moonrise Towers. Then. she is a regular companion. Karlach cannot fix her heart trouble because Dammon is dead, and Halsin will be not possible to recruit as he is dead.

I have Minthara in my evil playthrough (without using any exploits so no Wyll and Karlach) and while she does have quite a bit to say in Act 3, she still feels quite lackluster and thus far no second romance scene have triggered even though she explicitly said "I will come to you tonight" a long while earlier. So either it's not fully fixed yet, or they just didn't implement another scene besides the one during the celebration, which is meh in both cases.
Overall, in hindsight, I don't think she was worth it.
Even using the bugs/workarounds to keep Wyll and Karlach you still lose:
1. Halsin and with him the entire quest to remove the Shadow Curse.
2. Alfira and the best robe for Charisma casters (another Charisma modifier added to damage that stacks with Agonising Blast and Draconic Elemental Affinity).
3. Dammon which means Karlach's quest/romance, flawed Helldusk armour/helmet/gloves which is a really good set, and his shop with some neat items.
4. Mattis and his Act 2 shop that includes nice boots for Dex characters.
5. Mol and her shop/interactions in Act 3.
6. Zevlor who can be one of the allies in the endgame (and as a paladin one of the more useful ones with his smites).
7. Rolan who, if you save his siblings, sides with you against Lorroakan and should he survive that provides a nice big blast ability for endgame.
8. Generally a bunch of XP for all the related quest with any of the abovementioned characters.
And what you get is:
1. An underdeveloped companion without a personal quest, little dialogue in comparison to others (granted, some good pieces, but still underwhelming), and, as experienced by me at least, still broken romance option.
I have hope Larian eventually gives her more love, but until they do it the current playthrough is probably the last time I'm recruiting her. I much rather keep all the aforementioned perks, even if it means only being slightly evil instead of a complete monster.

@@JohnnyBlake-bu4hl glad to be helpful. I've seen tons of threads on reddit with people complaining about losing so many options just for picking Minthara.
I'm fine with losing some quests/interactions for being evil, but I really hoped for more content tied to that choice to balance it out, and there isn't any, really. So unless you're fine with just being a murderhobo throughout the entire game as the only evil option available in 90% of encounters (and hey, it can still be fun and profitable, especially as the Dark Urge), stick to good/neutral choices.

Its a real shame because minthara is an awesome and layered companion and all her voice lines are delivered perfectly and hit like a ton of bricks. She's the only companion where every line out of her mouth I'd sit back and listen. But yeah her romance is still weird, and definitely feels undercooked, even in Act 3.
I just cheat all those items in and raid the grove, Karlach looks like a butch unicorn lesbian with a mane and her dialogue is cringe, and Wyll and the Tieflings are annoying to look at and interact with, fuck the devs for locking all that gear behind good / neutral choices.
Im doing a evil playthrough. And I'm only doing this because Demoness Mizora Waifu with Wyll's storyline later on

You gotta follow all the steps carefully
After having watched this video and tested, I can confirm this method works. Contrary to comments below, however, no further steps are needed. In fact, this video likely overcomplicates and confuses the matter. All I did was as follows:
- Steal Idol of Silvanus with only Wyll/Karlach present IOT die in ensuing combat (other members were at waypoint)
- Long Rest
- Commence grove raid as normal
- Profit
Wyll/Karlach appear alive at the celebration but seem totally oblivious to the massacre ever having occurred, not to mention the goblins and tiefling corpses strewn about the camp.
I cannot say for certain why this method works, but I believe it is because the decision point at which Wyll/Karlach leave (that is, during the final "betrayal" conversation with Zevlor), never occurs. It is likely that the key steps here are turning the druids on the tieflings, and ensuring the druids win by being out of combat and Long Resting. What follows is that, after having spoken to Minthara and rested again, you arrive at the Grove to find that the gate is already smashed in and the goblins have the run of the place.
11/26/23 with the latest patch - this method still works!)
4:04 funny I got the same exact bug when I stole the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane. Every fight in act 1 area had those gith in it and they would slowly make their ways toward my position each turn from across the map.
Yeah, just go up and kill em. If you ambush them with invisibility they’ll stop annoying you.
This Walkthrough really works, however, it is incomplete! Here are some tips to make it work:
1) When first stepping into the grove, hit Aradin when he is discussing with Zavlor
2) Followed by this, recommended Rolan and family to take the road
These steps are important to reduce the opposition when you trigger the conflict.
Even this way, you may need to manage the situation with non harmful effects (Fog Cloud, Enlarge etc)
The important here, if you are watching the fight from the distance, is to get quest updates that say "The tieflings were banished from the grove" or something like that. Normally it will occur when around 90% of them "gone".
Another important tip: Deal with Kagha and Will/Karlach as fast as you can! Each turn goes 6 seconds, and looks like the game understand a full turn of yours, is also a full turn outside Kagha fight room. What I did: start the fight with full team, but let the ones to Scape close to the door of possible. After dealing with Kagha, make Wyll and Karlach go up into the vines close to the door and jump down, giving around 10 points of damage to each one, each turn. The faster as you deal with Kagha and disable Wyll and Karlach, the faster the one protecting Khaga will join the TxD fight to help the druids.

Only bummer in this game for me so far is that even if you get Minthara the right way, her romance feels like an afterthought.
So you pretty much cut off 3 companions for one that feels unfinished.

Can confirm still works:
1) Wyll & Karlach stole idol while Tav & Astarion stayed at waypoint. This caused the Druids to kill them & the Tieflings
2) Told Minthara to start the raid
3) stored thr bodies with Withers so could long rest
4) show up to Grove & Raid is already finished
5) Goblin party & Minthara romance scene
6) next morning I rezzed Karlach & Wyll they don't acknowledge anything out of the ordinary

Works fine, I think. I ran into a weird glitch doing this in Hotfix #21. I went to go revive Karlach and Wyll at withers and whomever I try to revive 2nd always left. Tried just using revivfy scrolls and the same thing happens. Whoever get revived 2nd leaves without fail. Oh well, I ended up keeping wyll since Karlach's companion quest is dead when you kill the tieflings anyway.

Can minthara in your party meet nere? If i go up the elevator, save minthara, and return, will the gyrmforge stay like this? Id like to know what kind of conversation those 2 might have when they are cleansed of the absolute
She won’t leave the shadow cursed lands after the Moonrise towers trial. After raiding the grove she is gone in Moonrise until you rescue her.
She actually can leave if you cast silence on her :D

No. You need to watch the video more carefully. Some things in the grove and Goblin camp must be unresolved.
@@LinusWilson Gotcha. I'll give it a few more rewatchs. At the moment all I have left there is to solve the druid stuff, steal the idol for mol, save Sazza and then Karlach's quest with Dammon. Was gonna do the latter 2 first before going along with the, innocent reaquisition of idol assets plan shown in this clearly good playthrough video :p
Do you know if killing the goblins on the blighted village have any effect on the goblins at the camp?
@@alanvaladez559 you can do the sazza stuff if you want. Sazza is irrelevant. Dammon is irrelevant because he will die and his quest will fail if you trigger the Tiefling Druid slaughter by stealing the idol in the open. Blighted village does not matter.

I don’t know Alfira but I think they all die if you don’t kill Minthara (regardless of how u resolve the grove). The tieflings are really hard to keep alive and are easily wiped out in act 2 also. You need to basically structure all your choices about protecting them.

maybe if you diffuse the situation by revealing the druids plan and getting them to just stop fighting then get minthara in moonrise . i stole the idol but nobody killed eachother

The intresting patt is, if you ask minthara at the camp (ive got her with the sheep exploit) you can ask her opinion about wyll, what should not be included, since wyll turns against you, if you turn against the grove.
No you can recruit minthara Wyll and Karlach without betraying the grove or saving it. That is intended. Don’t kill the 3 goblin leaders and go into the mountain Pass or up the Grymforge elevator with Wyll and karlach in your party.

wyll is fing annoying, karlach is less annoying but also annoying.
Unfortunately Wyll has more questlines than any other companion
