Please consider going back to doing the end of season recap videos that you did in the beginning of your channel. I liked the videos where you discussed what your retiring and why
I spy a perfume tray. 😉 Would love to know what fragrances you are currently wearing, do you rotate your scents with the season like your clothes, do you have a “fragrance wardrobe” as well, etc. 🙂
I love this comment! I have a perfume that I only wear in fall and winter, Coco by Chanel, the original, not the Coco Mademoiselle. And I wear a really inexpensive brand in the spring and summer.
It has taken me a few years, but I'm starting to get the swing of the curated wardrobe. Last week I arranged my closet with late summer/early autumn clothing, and I actually completed the job during the hour or so that I had! One new thing that helped dramatically was that I bought nice wooden hangers for this switch. I am really enjoying my closet - thanks for the inspiration!
I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to create a pre- fall wardrobe for September and October for those of us in hot climates. Fall colors but still lighter weight, then when the temperatures cool for actual fall tweak or completely re-do your capsule, ie swap out the sleeveless mockneck camel tank with the sweater, the olive green tank dress with the long sleeve shirtdress, the lightweight black ankle trousers with the straight leg.. etc. At least that's how I do it because cooler fall temps are so slow to arrive. Yet I'm so anxious to enjoy the beautiful rich colors and textures of autumn.
Fall is an afterthought where I live in Central Texas. The only way to comfortably give a nod to fall is with color. (Fall doesn’t arrive here until November and December, winter is January and February, there may be a couple weeks of spring in March, then it’s back to hot.) In any case, I’ll be “transitioning” my wardrobe just because it’s fun.
I was thinking about just switching out a few colors for fall because it is so hot in Texas. I was planning on putting my wardrobe transition to my birthday beginning of October. My primary colors are jewel tone blue and green with blacks
I have been doing the ten item wardrobe for ten years now and as I'm getting ready to pack away my summer wardrobe I realize that one of the core pieces has been with me all this time. It's a simple cotton shirt in summer colours that I still enjoy ❤
I appreciate how you interchange some of your staple pieces into another season. You prove it doesn’t need to be “throw away all past pieces and buy all new!”
Here in Sydney, Australia the very early arrival of Spring/Summer is rushing us! It's so good to have to only find a few new pieces and to already have most of my wardrobe organised from last year. I have watched the channel for years but only really started with the 10 item wardrobe last year. It's so much fun and I am really enjoying finding my true style.
This was life changing for me. I consider myself a minimalist in life, including my closet. But what I learned is that being minimal isn’t necessarily intentional. So, I tried this technique and I am in awe at how easy it is to get dressed. I realized I had all different seasons, worn out items, and items that no longer fit. Thank you for sharing these tips!
I cannot believe the huge difference it made this year, when I started implementing your capsule method for my wardrobe. It really simplify everything - from what to purchase to what to wear. My personal style is much better defined, and I could also see that I have way too many clothes.
I so enjoy your 10 item wardrobe videos. Thinking of fall gets me so excited. I’m kinda of done with summer clothes, but then I remember here in the southeast we will have warm weather for at least another month and half or more. I do retire some things and pull out jeans, some lighter weight fall items, but I’m most excited to finally use a wine bag and new wine colored loafers. Both of which don’t add to the heat.
Here in SC it's another month before I can pack away summer items - just too hot and humid. However, I love seeing this video as it gets me looking in the direction of fall and I will take out pieces that just scream spring and start getting rid of items that are old and worn or that I didn't wear much this summer - it's a process, so thanks for getting me started. I do love all your new pieces.
Despite still having up to 30° Celsius (86° Fahrenheit) here in Germany, I did my fall shopping yesterday. I only looked for real gaps I recognized last fall (some lighter knits) and one pair of replacement boots. Thats it. I'm done. Looking forward to wearing my new pieces but also my old favourites. That is the beauty of the 10 item wardrobe. Still the best wardrobe system out there for me. Edit: Also, I don't declutter as many pieces as I used to when seasons change. Most of the time I'm pretty happy now and only switch out some pieces here and there.
I’m so ready to “un-summerfy” my closet, even though it’s still hot here in NorCal. But my husband has Covid and he’s giving the bedroom cooties and I can’t go in there. 🙃 What I find myself gravitating towards are richer colors even though I can’t add the fall fabrics because of the heat. Fall is hard when it’s still hot!
I’m trying to steal peeks at your perfume tray. I’d love a little perfume tour if you’re willing. My daughter and I love exploring different scents. My favorites are Myrrh and Tonka, Vanilla and Anise (Jo Malone), Chanel No. 5, and Donna Karan Cashmere Mist.
Hi Jennifer, your long term silent follower, will you pls talk about how many table clothes, beddings and other items you recommend in accordance with 10 items wardrobe?
I like the navy button down and navy tee shirt. Navy is your color❤ I also like the wavy hair you have in this video. I'm leaning towards trouser pants and button down shirts this fall. I have a large jacket collection and there are endless looks to choose from. I feel comfortable and look polished even though I live a casual lifestyle.
We are in full transition up here in the coastal PNW. Autumn is in the air. My core basics for Fall are in pretty good shape, I am only missing a simple dark trouser silhouette. I have added three new “extras” to my mix . . . a soft feminine, bulky deep sandy knit pullover from Free People, a rather fun, layered and uniquely elevated approach to a fleece pullover from Anthropologie and a camel / khaki tone blouse from Kut From The Kloth. I purged two old and updated my blue denim jeans with two new silhouettes. ( I hadn’t purchased a new pair of traditional blue jeans for almost 4 years! ) I discovered a wonderful, comfortable fit for me from Kut From The Kloth. I chose a classic boyfriend cut and a mom jean cut with a little bit of a wider leg. I absolutely love the camel casual polo, Jennifer! The versatility and longevity of that piece is a sound and smart fashion investment . . . just like your leather trimmed shirt! The combination is stunning on you! It’s always fun talking fashion with you! 😘
I love reading your description of your new items! I was born and raised in the PNW 🌲 but live now in the high desert mountains of Utah and Fall chill is in the morning air now! Thanks for describing your wardrobe choices! So fun to envision ❤

Hi Jennifer! I love all the Lilysilk pieces, especially the olive blouse 😍 It really makes your eye color pop!! I absolutely can't wait until autumn 🍂🍁

The color and silhouette of each of them are beautiful and the deep green one reminds me of one you bought last year only with a slightly different line of interest. We're transitioning from winter to spring in South Africa 🇿🇦. What you said about hunting for a particular item and bring intentional about shopping is so true. I'm hunting for a specific shoe right now and now not swayed by the million other shoes available. Great video 🎉
Jennifer, I must share.... I've been admiring your Lilysilk skirt all summer. A few weeks ago, I finally purchased it (on sale). I cannot wait to wear it this weekend.
Hi Jen, what is your recommendation for outdoor workwear and active wear? Where is a practical place to store these items while keeping true to the 10 item wardrobe? I've always struggled with this, as in the pacific northwest we have so many "seasons" in a week.
It is still hot where I am and my dresses and skirts can still be worn for another month or two. However, I always enjoy getting out light blazers and cardigans so when it does get cool, I have something to grab and if it does get hot, I can easily take them off!
I’m loving all the fall colors you’re adding to your wardrobe! I’m in AZ so it’ll be a month to two before it cools down, but I’m excited for fall/winter! ❤❤❤
❤👍love the colours you chose, along with the classic cuts and finishes. This year I added 2 new cashmere sweaters in Forest Green and Bordeaux. They replace a couple of same colour worn out tops in cheap rayon that didn’t stand the test of time but taught me a lot about how much I love these colours. The Bordeaux one will arrive in a week while the Forest Green is here and I can hardly wait to start enjoying them. Over the last few years I focused on what things make me feel good- colour, fabric and cuts so when I add something new- it ticks all my boxes because something old must go instead. I am down to just under 40 items now year round from over 200 a few years back. As stuff wears out, I’ve slowly started replacing with higher quality items to look good for much longer. It’s been a shift in my thinking that went along with a more minimalist approach over the last few years. Fewer items, better quality worn for longer. Still fits my budget. But I enjoy my clothes so much more.
Great tips, Jennifer! I’m going to try something different this season: I am keeping all of my summer pieces out and adding a few layering pieces for about 2 months. I live in the Southeast where it is still hot and humid. I plan to have about 20 core items from Sept-Oct, then in Nov I’ll fully put away summer and focus on fall. I’m hoping to have only about 14 core items for fall by Nov. This will be my first year trying it this way, but the seasons where I live seem to take about 6-8 weeks to actually transition. So I’m hoping this will help during those last (rather brutal) months of heat. I love all the pieces you have chosen. Cheers to new seasons!
☆ QUESTION ☆ I haven't started yet, but next week I'll pull everything out so I can edit. You have some beautiful new pieces. I was wondering if you have a hard time maintaining the 10 item wordrobe when you are gifted pieces from sponsors!? Thanks for the inspiration!
Hello, Jennifer-what a lovely and positive video. I struggle with what to wear during the transition seasons. I recently watched a video about wearing summer maxi dresses with a light colored bootie with a warmer cardigan. I think I’m going to try this until the end of October. But alas, some of my favorite dresses that scream summer from Lily Pulitzer will have to be hung in a different space and I won’t wear them. Thank you for all you do and share. I have and continue to glean wisdom and skill from you. God bless you and your family. ❤
I normally don't watch your wardrobe videos only because of my own standards. But I was really impressed with this one. The clothing pieces were classy and feminine at the same time. I loved the tan and blue pieces especially with the pearls. Great choices I think! I have my own bug about women's clothing. I don't like blue jeans at all. And women tend to wear them more than men do. They were originally created to be durable work pants for men to wear working on the farm. And they really look like it. College girls started to wear them in the 40s and 50s but no decent woman would wear them. But then in the 70s when the women's movement picked back up, and women were trying to impersonate men, the jeans came into their full glory. And now these utilitarian, bland, work clothes are women's staples. How is it that we always want to copy men in their worst attributes? But your choices today were spot on. Really great! I'll be looking for more!
It’s still unseasonably hot here in Vermont but I am adapting much in the way you are. I am keeping my neutral linen pieces out but adding a few of my darker lightweight tops and dresses and skirts from fall . It feels strange but we are almost in September so when the leaves change in the cold valleys, I want to have my comforting sweaters and tweeds out.
I love it all jennifer. I too went with navy monochromatic look. I am rebuilding after finding my steady body post 5 kids😅. I had a list. Top was patent leather red shoes, which i scored used at a steal- never worn. Next was a black cashmere big collar duster with professor leather arm patches and the leather matched my spanks liquid Carmel colored faux leather pants, and cotton velvet high waisted wide leg pants in carmel. I am still looking for striped tops, long tees and short v necks. I am so bringing back my tartan long boiled wool coat, all the red- So much red, and have decided to keep my magenta/geranium pink through fall and retire at christmas when i have to role out the serious heavy winter clothes
As someone who prefers less options, I’ve been enjoying wearing a uniform for the past several years. It simplifies my life and I only wear my favorite.
I've never really put away off-season clothes or curated a 10-item wardrobe. I have key pieces and wear them on repeat, but I've been thinking about reorganizing in the 10-item method. It won't be easy, but I think next week will be my first attempt. Give me strength!
Hello Jennifer Iam doing the cooler weather dance here...its not working its still hot here in Italy. WOULD LOVE to wear new season clothes but I just cant do it yet.But I love your videos.Bless you.
The thermostat says 90 degree summer weather but my heart says fall time sweater weather! Jennifer, have you ever explored the British brand Holland Cooper? Some of my favorite fall/winter pieces are from there and I always feel very smart and polished in their clothes!
Hi, I want to order some of your Lily Silk pieces, the camel sweater for one. I see your wearing a M, does it run small? Your so tiny! Love all your looks!
My heart lit up when I saw you had uploaded a Fall wardrobe video!! Thank you on the wardrobe declutter advice- I really need to pair down what I have hanging in my closet. I miss having a 10 item wardrobe SO much. Right now I am living with multiple sizes (being postpartum and not fitting in everything) and it’s causing my closet to be stressful and overwhelming. I’d really like to curate an intentional Fall this year. I feel like I “lost” my style and tried other things, but I’d like to get to the core of what feels like “me” this Fall. I was in survival mode and went into the baggy, oversized look and I’m ready to feel like “me” again. 2-3 years ago I used to dress in a feminine-preppy style, and I miss it tremendously!
Thank you for the recommendation to curate your Fall wardrobe slowly and not rush. I found myself rushing. This idea of crafting a collection to represent oneself that takes thoughtful time is such a needed thing in my current phase of rediscovering my style - drawing on my past love of feminine/preppy but not getting stuck in an old version of me. I alternate between very bohemian and more preppy and during the Fall, I love to lean more into the classic Ralph Lauren (equestrian) look. I thrifted a few things on Poshmark ( a blue/green plaid turtleneck from Land’s End; a Croft & Barrow cream button up shirt that can go with everything; some cream & tan boat shoes from Sperry). I also replaced my too-small denim pencil skirts from the Main Street Exchange during their sale a couple weeks ago. But I am still looking for a secondhand silk scarf - once I nail down my color palette- and a dress that would also be nursing friendly. I still need to try on my old cable knit sweaters to see if they fit me currently!
As I look at my smaller summer wardrobe, I am surprised that I did not wear a few items! About half of my items, are brown, as I love that color so they will work in the transition and I will add in some short sleeves, quarter sleeves and lighter long sleeves whenever the heat subsides....I think I am beginning to see it is all a process, and that helps, bc trying to find the perfect wardrobe, is too much pressure!! I really do learn as I go through each season, and that is important to to me.
Lovely wardrobe! I have a silk shirt from Lily silk (the navy and white striped one) and I’d really appreciate knowing how you launder it. I washed mine in a laundry bag on delicate and hung it to dry. I ironed it for probably a half hour! I couldn’t get the wrinkles out. So I sent it to the dry cleaners. That will get expensive. Thank you!
I wash on delicate and hang dry. Then I either steam or I iron and I don't have any issues... Maybe your iron was on a wrong setting? Or not enough steam in the iron? That's happened to me before.
Hi! In the Gulf coast area of the South, it will be quite hot all through September and October! November may or may not have some cooler temps. How do you suggest trying to dress for an unseasonably hot Fall?
I wish we had more of a fall! I LOVE fall and I feel cheated that we don’t really get it. Fall fashion is my favorite too. I live in central CA and I can’t even think about fall clothes yet. It’s going to be 106 degrees next week. 😢 I do try to use fall colored clothes at least. I also sometimes crank my AC lower to feel more like fall. 😂
I love the concept of changing over my closet, especially since I grew up in a place that had four distinct seasons. But living in Texas makes this type of clothing planning absolutely ridiculous for me. It’s so hot outside, but so frigidly cold inside from AC in the summer and then in the winter when it’s actually cold people turn up their furnace is so high. It’s too hot inside, you never get to wear cute stuff that’s seasonally appropriate. So I enjoy watching other people style for the fall I never have 😢😂
I noticed that Lily Silk only goes to an XL. Any ideas for those of us who are slightly more curvy but who would love to elevate our styles? A lot of UA-cam personalities I love tend to be smaller and, understandably, patronize and promote companies that don't make anything that fits larger than a size 12-14.
We had a few weeks in Portland where I could have sworn it was late September. Alas, temperatures are on the rise and I must keep my summer wardrobe for a few more weeks 😢
Hello, Jennifer!! What a lovely video, thank you very much :) I've been wanting to buy Lilysilk pieces for a while, but I'm not sure how to wash/handle silk clothing. Is it possible to wash them with regular cold water? Can we handwash Lilysilk pieces or even use the delicate cycle? Is it easy to iron/steam these pieces? (I'm asking it because I had some silk pieces in the past that couldn't be washed with water, otherwise they'd be ruined... so I wore them very few times, sadly =/). Looking forward to your answer. Thank you for the great content, as always
Check clothing labels before washing. For silk clothing, it is recommended to hand wash in cold water, use neutral detergent, do not wring them out, and hang them in a ventilated and cool place to air dry. Tips-If there are few wrinkles, you can use a small spray bottle to wet the area, which can basically remove the wrinkles 😃. If you need to iron, it is best to put a layer of cloth on the silk clothes and then iron them at low temperature/cold. Silk is actually not difficult to take care of, as long as it is properly maintained, it can be used for many years. Hope this helps.

@@wynne3535 Thank you very much for the tips :)))!!! I was about to iron a silk scarf that is very wrinkled and I didn't know that the layer of cloth was needed to protect the fabric. Your message arrived just in time. Thank you!
My goodness whole week without your video made me panic, like an addict on withdrawal 🥴. I for one refuse to yield to fall. I am wearing my summer clothes till at least the end of September. It's a New England thing, called denial of "winter's coming"😁
I like Lilysilk clothing but have not liked their return policy. I felt I had to jump through hoops to get them to take a return because a blouse didn't fit me correctly in the shoulders. It shouldn't be that hard.
Jennifer can you do a tea time video about these “sweatpants jeans”?! I’d love to hear your thoughts!! ua-cam.com/users/shorts9fwK-go43h8?si=x6OycUDgfrENr2ME
I really like your videos, Jennifer! ❤ But I can't understand the hype about Lilysilk! The things are shipped from China and usually take a long time to arrive (to me in Germany). The sizes are not reliable and the pants are often too short. And the return process is a horror! In addition, influencers are supplied with clothes for free and you can currently see the same clothes in many videos. I absolutely cannot understand why Lilysilk is so highly praised 🤷♀️
I agree and also they don’t carry plus sizes so I can’t even shop there. It’s frustrating that so many influencers showcase them but they don’t have inclusive sizing.
@@nikkien7259 I am very petite, but my sister is a plus size woman. She has incredible style. They are not very inclusive no one ever talks about it. I’m sure if you follow this channel you have incredible style too.
I think it is time to invest in some nice, new pieces that fit you and make you feel comfortable and wonderful right now at this stage in your life. Store what doesn’t fit you away for awhile and visit those next year. If they fit you then, that’s great, keep them …if not, let them go and enjoy some new items in wardrobe. ❤

I imagine it's easier, as anything can be put into extras as needed.
Cardigan or a T-shirt on top (makes the dress look like a skirt)
I am so bringing back my tartan long boiled wool coat, all the red-
So much red, and have decided to keep my magenta/geranium pink through fall and retire at christmas when i have to role out the serious heavy winter clothes
It's the same here but I like to adapt lightweight clothing to fall vibes. There's a few examples in the video.
Hi Jennifer, love your video on kickstartimg our 10 item Fall wardrobe! Thanks for all your wonderful tips and advice! Happy Labor Day! ❤
Thank you!
The skirt with the leather belt is my favorite
Great content. Have a nice Labor Day Weekend!
Just orderered silk pillowcase and silk scrunchies with your code! ❤ thanks!
Fall for me is ankle boots, scarves, pants and sweaters
My weight also seems to fluctuate. Makes the 10 item wardrobe difficult to maintain
😅 Let's be honest, there's no fall in most part of California until December
That’s why most of my sweaters are short-sleeved 😂
Same in Tucson Arizona..
Ha try phoenix. Love the stylists that tell us to wear a jacket
Better still -- having a closet for each season! :)
So I enjoy watching other people style for the fall I never have 😢😂
I feel alot of the new items look oversized. Is that intentional?
The tops are way too big on you.
I put summer in a box but I keep taking stuff out!
I am a teacher. Would you have a ten item work wardrobe AND a ten item non work wardrobe?
Is the olive green shirt the same as last year?
I don't remember the seam across the chest/shoulders like that
We had a few weeks in Portland where I could have sworn it was late September.
Love it thanks ❤
Some areas still have 5-6 weeks of super hot summer weather left.
Love your clothes ❤ how you define your style ?❤😊
I would love to wear my fall stuff, but I live in California desert and it’s still 119😢
Jennifer can you do a tea time video about these “sweatpants jeans”?! I’d love to hear your thoughts!! ua-cam.com/users/shorts9fwK-go43h8?si=x6OycUDgfrENr2ME
I really like your videos, Jennifer! ❤
But I can't understand the hype about Lilysilk!
❤
🥰
Every channel that I subscribe to are pushing Lilly silk.😢 I love your channel, but it’s overkill.
I agree and also they don’t carry plus sizes so I can’t even shop there. It’s frustrating that so many influencers showcase them but they don’t have inclusive sizing.
@@nikkien7259 I am very petite, but my sister is a plus size woman. She has incredible style. They are not very inclusive
no one ever talks about it. I’m sure if you follow this channel you have incredible style too.
@@nikkien7259 thank you so much for saying something. it seems like every influencer are pushing their brand.
I agree. I don’t really like silk so I was disappointed to see it showcased again…
Very disappointed to see Jennifer fall into the Lily Silk trap. I fell for them too and regret my purchases! No more Lily Silk for me!
I hear Lily Silk, I exit. Overpriced and ill-fitting, pushed by every influencer on YT. Ugh.
Find this so inspiring! I'm currently postpartum and not fitting into my "old" wardrobe, do you have any tips for this season of life? 🤍
Buy some beautiful pieces that you can wear now! You’ll feel so much better. You don’t have to have many and you don’t need to spend a lot but have some. She has some videos you can look at when she was in this stage if you go back
And look.
