2024 Triumph Tiger 850 sport vs BMW F800GS comparison that will surprise you!
Welcome to Éire Rider Motorcycle Adventures my name is Ben,
In todays video will take a look at the 2024 Triumph Tiger 850 sport vs BMW F800GS comparison in segments. The layout of this video is to show off the features both both bikes with slightly more detail on the Tiger 850 sport. this is due to a separate video i did showing the F800GS competitors mainly the Honda and Yamaha bikes.
This is my first comparison to the Triumph and I have to say it was very interesting and will feature more triumphs in future. These bikes are made in the UK and living in Ireland you pay a bit of a premium for these bikes well you sort of expect it due to Brexit however that is not always the case. I was rather surprised in this comparison and hopefully you will be too.
Here is what you can expect in this video:
features (both bikes)
Suspension (both bikes)
braking system (both bikes)
electronics (both bikes)
Display (triumph only with f800gs mention)
engine spec (both bikes)
fuel tank size (triumph only with f800gs mention)
unladen weight (both bikes)
seat height (both bikes)
LED headlight (triumph only)
pricing in Ireland (both bikes)
Verdict - what would be my pick
Thanks for watching...
I hope you will reward me with a like and a comment.

@@westcoast5934 thanks for asking. I've delayed their release due to poor ratings and views. 88 views is not what I am looking for. I am working on how I can make the most of these without affecting the channel overall. I've put some shorts up in the meantime.
For the price difference, BMW gets equipment that Triumph does not offer. Whoever tries the BMW semi-active suspension, ABS for cornering, dynamic active traction control, an incomparably better TFT panel than on the Triumph and an absolutely more powerful and specific engine, will choose a BMW. Because BMW is a luxury sedan on two wheels. BMW is BMW.
@@Depp500 I mentioned what extra equipment the BMW has over the Triumph in relation to heated handgrips, hand guardsand a far better TFT display with better connectivity. Triumph is a premium brand of motorcycle not to mention it's history. It's been making motorcycles well before BMW got involved. Please man the difference in power is negligible. ESA is optional equipment and excluded in this comparison. This is a fair comparison but hey everyone has their opinions.
91 Nm is what Triumph doesn't even have with the 900 GT Pro. Triumph is definitely a premium brand, but that's normal for a realistic comparison with BMW. In addition, Triumph is your domestic brand.. I bought a motorcycle in that class and tried literally everything in the ADV class 800-900. Tastes are different, but if you have to count 20k euros from your own pocket, then it becomes max. objective, of course, according to one's own preferences.
@@Depp500 domestic brand? How so? I would think BMW is more domestic in Ireland than Triumph. The Triumph has a 3 cylinder engine vs the parallel. I'm sure they could have pushed the power more out of it if they wanted too. Anyway 82nm and 85bhp is still pretty good. My F800GSA has 85bhp and 83nm, damn good for a bike that's 10 years old. 😅
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure Of course, man😉

Great comparison and commentary. I have a BMW f850 GS Enduro so I'd find it hard to change brands.
@@brownh66 thanks very much. Thought it would be a worthwhile comparison as a good few people said it was better than the F800gs.
Pretty cool. I would like that one.
@@cainbeeping8480 thanks Cain. Yeah it's a sound bike in comparison to the BMW.
I’ve owned both, my last bike was the tiger and my new bike is the bmw. For me the bmw is the winner , I prefer the ride as I find it more comfortable, the fueling is way better especially noticeable at low speeds plus I prefer the tech on the bmw. The only thing I did prefer on the tiger was personally I found the engine to have less vibrations. Oh and so far at least the bmw dealer experience has been better than the triumph which ink actually found to be quite poor. Both bikes are great though.
Thanks for the comment. Appreciate your feedback and no doubt it will help others. 👍🏻

Looks and sounds a great bike
Certainly seems like it is. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏻
It is a great bike. I've had mine for close to a month now here in Australia. The bike feels really lite and nimble, i take it off road and its like a fat dirt bike then its happy and smooth on the hwy. I geared mine with a 15 tooth front sprocket to bring revs down. Fuel economy is not that bad and gets better as it runs in. Great value $9490 ride away here.
Appreciate that. What's the switch gear like? Looks great too. Do you take it out every day
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure I get to ride every weekend. I love the fact you can connect your phone and helmet comes to the bike , can listen to music or make calls on the fly using the handle bar controls.
@@bazz6670 all for a very affordable price. How much is a Honda NX500 in Australia out of interest? Is cfmoto fairly well known in Australia? First time I've heard of them.
@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure nx is a bit over $11,000. 450 mt still has better suspension and 18- 21 inch wheels and better all round off road. Nx is still.a great bike just more road oriented and better fuel economy.
@@bazz6670 yeah the ground clearance and suspension stroke is really good for a bike of that price. I was very surprised at that. Not far off the Yamaha Tenere 700 which is priced way higher. They claim 4.7lt per 100 so can't be too bad. Good fuel tank size too.
So I emailed AMI in Gorey back in the beginning of May to query the price and they quoted me €7450 and the bikes would be available in "June/July". The price puts it on par ish with Himmy 452, Triumph 400's and Svart-/Vitpilen 401 (2024 models) and made the choice more difficult. Reliability and value depreciation are just two of worries, but I'm planning to book a test ride over the Summer.
Oddly enough i thought it would be around that. Still substantially cheaper than similar bikes of that class. Looks fairly decent. Thanks for letting me know. They have a fair amount of history making motorcycles and started back in 1989 making parts. It seems they have a mission to succeed and exceed expectations. I would be keen to take a look. Let me know what you think when you see it.
👍👍
Thanks Cain
A cool bike.
First I heard of this crowd. Looks like it
Hey Ben, I much appreciate the awesome info you’re giving us.. Which would you choose 2013 F800GS or 2016 Multistrada 1200s ? I know they are different bikes but I can’t make up my mind and I feel so much pressured cause it’s going to be my bike for life.. I wouldn’t mind that the Multistrada won’t go off-road as much as the GS
Hi there, bikes tend to be emotional buys. The 1200 has a great engine. Not rarely a direct comparison. Depends on your budget too. The multi strada is going to be more comfortable. Also has a fair amount of equipment. Ducati is a great name and I'm sure one day we will all like to have one. The fact your looking into one.. I would definitely consider it over the F800GS. Ensure there is a good service history with it and see what the dealer network is like.

Hi Ben. Just came across some of your fantastic bike trip videos. I notice that they are mostly in Sligo/Leitrim/Mayo/Donegal area. Do you travel around Leinster or Munster at all and, if so, have you discovered any "hidden gems"? I live in Dublin and run a touring group and we go out most Saturdays, weather permitting of course. I have my own list of around 250 venues, all reachable in a day's return trip from Dublin, but would be interested in finding some new scenic/historic places to visit. Thanks.

Thanks Westcoast. Yeah these were lookout posts. I see there is one on Achill island too by Keem Beach.
I,m looking for a new bike... I like the look of this bike,,but I like the look of the Benelli TRK 502 better,,, the screen on that bike just seems more all compassing (rounded) and its about a £1000 cheaper. And when you think of cheaper insurance too, plus better MPG... it looks good... Benelli have a new 552 coming out soon so maybe prices will drop even further.. Another thing ,,I like bikes with a center stand,,, the spoke wheel X models of both the 702 and 502 come with center stand s.. The mag wheel bikes do not,, lastly the X models have a greater seat height... I think you can go after market for the centerstand on the mag wheel model,,, for sure Benelli do not do things straight forward...cheers
Thanks for your feedback. Need to look up the 552. Yeah I think the X models comes with everything as standard. Decent level of spec on these. When you say the alloys don't last .. what do you mean?
@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure Sorry ,,, What I mean,t was the alloy wheeled bikes do,nt come with a center stand, whereas the X models do,,, but the X models seat height is quite high (for me) and the alloys (road version ) is alot lower..Like I say "swings and roundabouts"
