Arranmore Cliffs motorcycle trip 2023 continues as we visit the cliffs of Arranmore and the Lighthouse Steps are a major landmark on the tourist trail on Arranmore Island. Although not sign posted (they would benefit greatly if it was) it was the main reason I wanted to see Arranmore Island for myself. It is also a Wild Atlantic way discovery point in Donegal.
I have since got this added to google maps along with the Arranmore main Beach and the Scenic Ring Road.
What you will see in this part of Island is stunning, wild and exposed to the elements. Hence why this part of the island is uninhabited. When I arrived the wind was blowing as soon as you got to this side. Oddly enough as I got lower to the lighthouse steps the wind got less. The Lighthouse steps are fantastic and again not sign posted. You will find the steps as you walk from the lighthouse gate to the sea. You will then start to see the concrete path and you have found it.
The scenic views from here are stunning, beautiful and well worth the walk down. As the wind higher up was extremely strong i didn't take my drone however if i had this would afforded me much viewing pleasure!
Enjoy your time at Arranmore Island. Its a place were time slows and the wild atlantic way begins. Accommodation I would say is limited and there are no campsites. You can camp anywhere I am told but this part of the Island is too exposed and you would have to choose your location wisely. I found some camping ground by the main beach which is in the next video.

Ben, Arranmore was looking stunning along that western coastline with al those glorious cliffs👍 Missed those steps on my visit and they looked way cool👍
I remember your video you did of this area but I think you where further past the lighthouse. Thanks so much.
The steps were built for boats to service the lighthouse. In olden times there was no road to the lighthouse. Food and people were brought in by boat and up steps to lighthouse
Built in 1798. I believe mainly used for bringing oil to the lighthouse or as you said supplies.
