  • Fáilte and Welcome to Éire Rider Motorcycle Adventures my name is Ben,
Motorcycle Tour through Ireland, my Arranmore Island trip is coming to an end. I visit the Beaver Island monument, setup camping and explore the beach front close to the camp site.
I wild camp with no campsites is a bit of a challenge and I headed to this Island thinking i would find a place easy enough. Well that wasn't the case. In previous videos I mentioned the Atlantic side and how exposed it was so unfortunately that wasn't an option considering I was hoping it would be. Anyway I found a spot closer to the village with a few other people on site that were at first nice and eventually load until the early hours of the morning..... hopefully the last time i camp with strangers on a empty piece of ground.
I have also included the beaver Island monument and exploring the main beach close to the village.
Ive enjoyed my time on Arranmore Island. I have previous videos of this stunning place and I recommend you take the time to watch the other videos as this will give you a good idea what to expect on your visit.
The beaver island monument commemorates the Irish who left the Island to make new lives in America. even if you look up Beaver Island on google maps you will see Irish references like Donegal Bay. Take a look.
Camping has few options with the main area being close to the village. You can camp anywhere and we did come across some people camping on the Atlantic side however you are extremely exposed on that side to the wind and there are few sheltered areas that are sunk into the ground. Land is plentiful but choices are few.
Finally in the video I head to Arranmore main beach which is a stones throw from the place I camped. There are no camp sites or facilities for those wanting to camp. What you bring with you, you take back with you. Leave nothing behind. Toilets are not nearby but as we arrived at Arranmore Island we did see a public toilets sign but in the next video I failed to see where it was. On a recent overhaul of the beach and the front a beach shower was added which appear to be hot water but no toilets.
The walk along the beach was fantastic and there were few people around. It was 6am but still. nice but a bit chilly. The sand is soft and it has a good strand for a walk. Waves were small the day i visited and on a clear morning is well worth documenting. Some fog may persist in the morning but once cleared its glorious.
I recommend a 2 day visit to Arranmore Island. You can do it in 1 day but it depends on how far you coming from. Accommodation appears to be limited so ensure you book in advance. There are limited places to eat and there appears to be one pub on the Island although google maps shows a few more places. Killleens on the western side of the Island has closed and looks like it would of served many patrons with a sizeable bar. It is up for sale the last time i looked and has a fair amount of accommodation if reopened.
My time on Arranmore Island is coming to a close and with all things will be time to leave this place.
Having done my own research and come across this place I am glad I did.
I have great memories of Arranmore Island... go see it for yourself and make your own memories.
    Thanks for watching...
