I have 4500km on my NX500 so far--love the biuke onece i got it set up correctly for me--a light weight touring bike is what i went for--Michelein Road 6's and pannier boxes--new seat and windscreen and suspension work from a local shop juts shims and valving nothing expensive and its perfect. Nothing beginner about this bike except that its useable as all hell and not expensive. Its all i need and i expect to get into the 100's of thousands of km on this bike. I like the lack of electronics--i dont want cruise control etc. I also dont offroad i ride two lane roads touring mostly beat up small roads on it although i might switch out to Dunlop TrailMax Raids and run some dirt road trips. A poor mans BMW--i can buy 5 NX500's for the price of the BMW1300 where i live. I also love the looks more than the CBX it looks gorgeous to me.Last thing is the sound its addictive when you red line it sounds like a F1 car winding up.

Sounds like your having fun and enjoying your purchase. That's all you need really. You have your cases and it's ready for adventures. Cruise control isn't for everyone. It has the electronics you need for not much money. Like you said you can buy like 5 for the price of a R1300GS. 😂 Thanks for your comment and I'm sure you have plenty of trips planned.

@@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure Thanks ya its set up now how i like it so m challenge is to get as many km on it while i have a 2 year unlimited warrant as possible haha--the CBX's go forever it seems so i will probably keep this bike for a decade...nothing wrong with with a BMW of course.
We are spoiled by choices lately!

After a test ride I recently bought a NX500 and the upgrades definitely improve it over the previous version. The instrumentation, wind protection, weight and engine mapping are all better. However I still think the CB500X edges it in the looks department.

Yeah it's still a good looking bike the CB500X. Anyone looking at the NX and looking for used should consider it. The NX500 is like an improvement over the CB500X with all those upgrades.

I am an 80 yo rider in good physical shape. I currently ride a Suzuki VStrom 650 XT a 2017 model which I purchased new in April 2018.
My VStrom has traveled 56,000 km, problem free and I am very happy with it.
I am interested in the Honda 500 NX ( which is not available in Australia until about September, best guess).
The reason I am interested is that I would like to continue riding well into my eighties and if so I will be better off with a lighter bike to ground handle. The VStrom is a fairly top heavy bike and I expect the Honda NX will have a lower center of gravity.
A mate had I think a 2017 Honda 500 CBX . I rode it about three years ago and I did not like it. It felt very small to me and at the time I much preferred my VStrom.
I will not know how I feel about the 500NX until I ride one, however as I get older I feel I am either going to downsize or stop riding, which I don’t want to do
I can only hope that the Honda NX is as impressive as all the reviews I have watched suggest.

    Re The 2023 500x ( which I own) versus the new nx500,
This upgrade is mostly a marketing ploy or technique, not that I’m knocking that.
The biggest upgrades are the new screen and headlight.
Performance, and mechanical, not so much.

I’ve got a 2023 CBx - the instrument, suspension tuning and improved slow revs throttle response will al be good improvements. Electronics and Traction control is just pointless on this bike (but I am biased against all the electronics bs). Aesthetically I still like the gunmetal black CBx, and that muffler still sucks and is terribly heavy.

Electronics bring bikes into the 21st century. Abs and traction control are great and that's about as far as I would take it. Cruise control.. well they can keep that! 😂 The cbx is still very much a great bike.

I have the 2019 CB500X I could get it ECU from Moore mafia $400 & that will make it as good or better than the NX500 & I don't like how the forks & everything is "blacked out" in the United States (only color we get) I think the 2023 looks way better! + Gold forks.. NX500 just black, traction control? Na don't need that where I live. & TFT display whatever... Not needed. And then people talk about the dual disc brakes do you really need that when you have a skinny ass tire up front? NOBODY complained about the single disc, Honda had to do something to sell the 🆕 model That's just my opinion. (FIND A VIDEO OF SOMEONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SINGLE DISK FRONT BRAKE) wouldn't know if u didn't look lol

@@honda116969 lol complaining... The bike simply looks better with a dual disc, it gives the bike a more balanced look. Also Having dual disc brakes also gives you better stopping power. We all have different opinions. I disagree with things and you disagree with things. Just because you don't find anyone complaining about it doesn't necessarily mean that's a good thing. @@EireRider.motorcycle.adventure I'm just pointing out that it's not necessary, nobody EVER mentioned anything about the brakes not working good enough. There's so many bikes out there with one single disc I doubt 95% of people are not going to notice. A lot of people buy these bikes because they're simple now when you change the brakes you got to buy 2 sets of pads instead of 1, You got to buy 2 rotors instead of 1, You got to bleed out 2 sides instead of 1.. I'm just pointing out the obvious that Honda had to do something to the bike to make people want to buy it, It was more done for that purpose than it was for the stopping power. You guys act like a single disc is not going to lock up the front wheel, your tire has to grip the road as good as your your pad grabs the rotor. Trust me dude I could have bought either bike they had them both right there but I was not going to spend 2-3K more for an extra rotor & upside down fork.. when they had a used 2019 with 500 mi on it. I'm trying to help people shop & be logical, not get fuked & buy the newest latest & greatest but of course there's a lot of shills that want people to buy a brand new $10,000 motorcycle when they can get it used for $5-6,000. & if you're realistically logic about it it's the same damn bike. And most anything you want to change you could do it in the aftermarket for a much cheaper cost & probably better than the factory bike. I try to use my 🧠💪 or your 💰 will soon part
