When we were in the US in 2013, we found a lot of cafes, when they heard our Australian accents, would just factor the tip into our bill. (I also never realised how board my accent is until we went to the US. A lot of people just couldn't understand me.)

It is one of the most Australian things that everyone will call out loudly "Thanks mate!" or "Thanks Driver!" as they get off the bus at the back doors. I think Tassie is a bit different to some places in mainland Australia. Like not many people drive manual cars because they’re more expensive etc but maybe in Tassie they still have a lot of used manual cars. Also in Melbourne take away breaky is fairly common probably because of the large population it’s worth doing it.
