    Sorry but Im not a fan of this plan at all. first of all this plan is not recommendable for any beginners. Do you want to ki*l the newbies or why do you have 3 tempo runs in a week? This is just an invitation for a serious injury. Second of all your easy runs are way too short. It's scientifically proven that easy or also so called zone 2 runs are the most beneficial when the duration is at least 45 minutes. Third off all there is a rule of thumb for long distance running (and yes 5k is still considered as long distance) that you should run 80% of your runs in an easy pace. Whilst I am a fan of this aswell, especially because this is an injury free way to train, for a 5k training plan I rather look on pace rather than heart rate (in marathon training i would always check my heart rate - for 5k training I rather check my pace than heart rate). BUT: you should always implement a purpose for your runs - for me as an example i implemented one intervall and one long run (ca. 20km) in my week where i do a fast finish for the last 30-45 minutes. I have 2-3 runs besides that have solely the reason of active recovery - my purpose for these runs are therefore: how slow do i have to run to be fit for my next interval and long run? I sometimes run a 7 minute per km recovery pace after an interval Training, if i feel fatigued - as an sub 18 Minutes 5k and sub 3 Marathon runner. My biggest issue with this plan is just that this may work for advanced runners but please never implement this plan as an beginner or intermediate. Always listen to your body, because consistency is key

    C goal of PB? Ambitious! Well done though! Someimes reverting to full fitness is quicker than we think. I had my worst HM in August, so threw in 8 weeks of high mileage and nabbed a 3000m and 10km PB earlier this month. Broke every rule in going from a 35km week one week to a 170km week the next (at age 50) but it worked. 😂

    Brilliant running Cole and spotted the Kent X country when scanning Athletics weekly, really happy for you after all the difficult times, ... a silver lining to being forced away from running through injury you can have time to breathe and reflect and as you say gain a better balance, carry on enjoying your running and that sub 30 is yours, plus anymore goals you set yourself, but enjoy the journey !!!

    Stress fractures worry me. I guess there's no warning signs until its too late. I'm running 26miles a week so hopefully I dont need to worry but I'm sure it's very individual how your body responds.

    • @ColeRunning
      @ColeRunning 28 днів тому

      Stress fractures can happen to anyone, although I would be seriously worried about one’s health if they were occurring anything less than 40 miles per week (e.g. malabsorption, eating disorders etc). But it can happen! They don’t come out of nowhere tho, I had pain in my thigh that I ignored which eventually developed into a fracture rather than the original ‘stress response’ which is typically just some swelling around the bone. Hope this helps put your mind at rest!
