What set up did you go with in the end
The main journal bearings seem to be in perfect condition Tom!!!
Yeah initial inspection looks like everything’s in good shape 👍🏻 Taking a lot of guidance from your engine vids!
Davis Jason Rodriguez Maria Robinson Amy
Very much the only right color for this bike. One day I will have one. Just have to establish a happy wife/no sleeping on the couch for a week plan first.
Haha yeah that’s often the hardest bit 😂
Cool tune.
Sweeeeet
You ok man?
It is definitely the best looking motorcycle ever. Even from the early nineties till the last one in the 2000s it's a mean looking machine.
I bought one of those ZX7 in 2000 myself it's a great handling machine I mean super super duper handler. Only problem was that weight if you didn't run a stock chain or heavier you were stretching chains to death tried to run a smaller chain I was messing with sprockets and yeah no good I was stretching Chainz like water. Especially when I was running slicks work on the slicks was just eating up the chains junk beautiful f****** bike they made it too f****** heavy if they made that bike lighter it would be unstoppable.
Yeah it was very nearly perfect. Though in this day and age I’m very content with the imperfections as it’s probably one of the last true 750 superbikes.
@@tomsworkshopprojects hell yeah brother I still have a bunch of 1995. Plastics and fenders pretty much whole body kits. Sweet looking bike I always wanted to take like a ZX-6R or something and try to fit all the 1995 ZX7 plastics on that thing good but what what what what what what what what what.
I think I'm going to going to sacrifice my ZX10 and put all the 1995 zx7r plastics on it.
After eight years restoration i finished my FZR 1000 build 90. Actually it's a new bike now. Beside the countless hours of work i spend about 7K € on the bike. Wouldn't do it again.
Haha yeah there’s not a huge amount of ways to make the maths add up nicely. I think it really needs to be a sentimental project or particularly educational experience to make it worthwhile 👍🏻
Hey Tom, thanks again for another great video! I noticed that the air filter you pulled out was dry. But the guy who sold me the '90 fzr told me it should be wet (the one currently on the bike is wet). I found a manual online that has the filter as "dry". What should I do?
Hi mate, yeah I can’t imagine any reason a stock filter should be wet on these, unless it’s not a stock OEM one and is a performance filter like k&n etc, as they often require oiling.
Hi Tom, thanks for the video! I just bought a 1990 FZR 1000. Which coolant do you recommend?
Nice! I’ve tried a few but not really found a favourite. The bikes have Putoline in them at the moment, but previously had Prestone with no issues.
Prestone for cars? Or they also make coolant for motorcycles?
Can't find Putoline on Amazon. Have you heard of EngineIce?
@@TherapyWithRicardo Just their regular premixed stuff. I picked up the Putoline from SpotsBikeShop.co.uk (not sure if you’re in the UK though?)
El cartucho de gas del amortiguador central; donde se coloca; tiene un soporte pero no se donde fijarlo. Gracias
I’m trying to think back, as my new one doesn’t have a remote reservoir, but I remember the bracket mounting beneath the battery box I think. Possibly on the cross beam in the frame.
Very nice videos. Looking forward to the assembly ;) Learned alot from the videos so far. I am gonna testdrive and maybe buy and old zx9r B3 1996 saturday ;)
Cheers! Nice, hope it’s good one 🤞
So, the upper front fairing is held on by the mirror bolts and just two other bolts...? I saw you loosen one...but, not any other ones...? It would help me as I am removing my upper fairing... Thanks!
Trying to think back, as it was a while ago 😂 I think it is just the two bolts and the mirror mounts. If you can see the two bolts, the fairing bracket comes off with the nose cone as one (just having to disconnect the loom connections)
We love your work from Aus ! Is there a new ep dropping soon?
Cheers Shaun! I’ve had a bit of a break over summer with the kids holidays etc but will be getting back in the garage in the next few weeks so hopefully not too long 🤞
I absolutely love your videos! Good on you for jumping in and doing things on this project you hadnt before. Really inspires me to work on my projects
Cheers mate! That’s been the best part of doing videos on it all, hearing when someone’s felt the urge to have a crack themselves 🔧
Tom: taking the cylinder head off Also tom: "Im head-ing into new territory for me" I see what ya did there
I love it when people like the little jokes in there too 😂 I once placed a gimp mask in one of the tool drawers when I opened it to put something back and no one ever said anything 😂 £14 wasted
Tom, @3:23... You removed that center panel..! My 2000 ZX7 has tabs on the lower back part of that panel... You must have cut the tabs off...?
I think mine does too, I’ll have to check. It was a struggle to take off carefully I remember that!
@@tomsworkshopprojects Hi Tom, Thanks for your response! I'm trying to figure out how to get to the back bolts holding the grab rails to the seat subframe!? I don't want to break any of the tabs!!! How did you do it...? Thanks!
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing. I picked up a few tricks and would like to see a more in depth video on the plating process. Cheers
I’ll definitely make one once I’ve had a bit more time to build a useful amount of tips and tricks 👍🏻
if it's a music video or any kinda entertaining video put music. if it's an educational or any other purposeful video DON"T PUT YOUR STUPID MUSIC
It’s a music video
The mixture srewes settings please
I just set them to stock, I’d need to look up what that is but I’m on the coast so pretty much at sea level.
Hii Tom's i need diagram wiring for rpm connecting
Should find the main one in here if that helps. www.exup1000.co.uk/downloads/FZR1000_F_94_Service_Information.pdf?Service/FZR1000_F_94_Service_Information.pdf
I don't know if you found it yet, but its the yellow/black wire coming from the ignition unit..
Hallo tom's, i need wiring diagram rpm fzr 1000 thanks
These videos are just awesome! Old school bikes are beautiful! I am really glad I bumped into your videos. I saw all twelve episodes and I'm looking forward to see more of them. I love your attention to details. Also, great choice regarding the bike. I'm thinking about doing the same, but with a ZXR 750.
Thanks! Appreciate that a lot mate. If you’ve binged them then I apologise to the pace the new ones come out 😂 That would be sweet to do the earlier model. Still a few bargains to be had if you’re happy to put the work in!
@@tomsworkshopprojects not a problem. For someone, i'm guessing, relativily new as a YT creator the videos are quite good. Keep up. Sorry for bad grammar..not from UK, i'm from Serbia.
@@szrpopovic haha no problem. Thank you, I’m a filmmaker/producer for my main job so it’s nice to be able to transfer the skills.
Hello friend, I'm from Mexico, sorry, what oil and spark plugs does the motorcycle have?
Hi, I’m not sure off the top of my head but this may help? letmegooglethat.com/?q=which+oil+and+spark+plugs+for+kawasaki+ZX7R%3F
Just got a fzr1000 88y as a barnfind
Nice, fingers crossed it goes smoothly!
Looking forward to a new video.
There’s me thinking wow this song is randomly very appropriate, 😂😂 love it
Haha this whole thing exists because I couldn’t stop messing around with AI song generators 😂
What a banger (not the bike)
Love it🏍️🏍️🏍️🏍️🏍️

Merci pour le partage et le montage de cette vidéo très instructive
Yo Tom. Love all your 12 videos so far. You made me go from Dreaming to doing. Im gonna start taking my Owen ZX-7R apart in two weeks, thanks to you, doing alot of pause/play on you videos 😂 I build my Owen Harley 1930 from scratch which was easy but never did a japaneres bike before and your videos gave me enough confidence to get started. Thank you so far and can’t wait to see The next wideo. You are awesome 🎉
This is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing, it’s one thing to go through the process and share it with people, but a completely different thing when it has an impact on their own projects and motivation! Good luck!
@@tomsworkshopprojects Yeah im takning my hat of for U, restoring and making a video 🥳 Im turning mine in to a naked bike when Im done restoring evererything. I wil share U some pictures when Im done if U want to see it.
Nice one Tom!! For someone who's first crack at 4-stroke top end work, you're doing a mighty fine job. I'll be sending you my 5 valve Genesis head to do for me while I'm off at work...cheers!
😂 I’ve been grateful to only have 16 on this head, after doing the valve clearances on the FZR, time and cost just goes up another level with 5 more valves to worry about. Thanks for your support Ken 👍🏻
You are starting to make me think I should take out the engine of my SRAD a give this a go.
Haha I’m definitely beginning to find it all a lot less daunting, though I’ll be getting that feeling again very soon when I split the cases 😬
Very interesting watching this, love the details of how you show how things work, love the content
Cheers!
NICE 🙂
Another outstanding job sir.
Grande Tom, altro video spettacolare! ;)
this job could of used some eye protection?>
Yeah true, could have held my tears of frustration back too 😂
The M539 Restoration for bikes. Love it❤❤
Love that channel! Thanks 🙏🏼
Well done Tom.
Your videos are excellent mate. Thanks for your efforts in the editing suite.
Cheers! Appreciate that a lot 👍🏻
Don't get too big headed, but you do a great job. You'd think it'd be a boring subject, but to blokes like us of a certain age, it's what we class as entertainment now 🤣
@@ajs3046 😂 I can watch this sort of stuff for hours for sure. Cheers!
