great photography!!! I have a mint 2001 one Im doing work on
Uploads from my 3 favourite bike channels ( Chris Sofos, Tom's Workshop, Ronald Finger) in a week, awesome :-))
(Plus an RRC Restoration upload last week) :-))
If anyone knows where a decent top fairing for an 87/88 FZR 1000/750 Genesis is, leave a comment.
desperately need one for my restoration.
That’s very kind to include me in that list! I too have felt the excitement of new videos from those guys. Haven’t heard of RRC yet though so I’ll check them out!
@@tomsworkshopprojects No worries mate, hope you do another resto after this one. RRC Restoration is a master restorer, its depressing how easy he makes it look and how good his work turns out. He's currently doing an 86 CR250 Honda, he's also done a couple of Ducati's, a Honda ATV and everything from a Hammer to a Subie WRX. :-)
Amazing to see that the bike is almost finished, can't wait to see it running.👏
No wayyyy this sounds unbelievable but you may have bought those calipers from me on eBay I sold the same ones about the same time you uploaded this video 😂
That would be funny 😂 I got these on eBay in September 2020, if that lines up?
Great job Tom looks amazing
Well impressed
Nice entertaining video. Great job!
Very good job Tom! Hurry up, the summer is coming soon up there! I had no idea there was a piston puller tool for the calipers! Good to know.
Nice video again Tom!
Nice work! The improved brake feel is really worth it! I see you bought a tool that I might need to add to my list (that piston removal thing).
Superb content Tom. Loving this restoration. Would like to know what paints you are using please. Also, did the aluminium have any corrosion? I’m yet to find a decent way to remove this on a textured RSV4 swingarm.
Cheers! I think the paint I've used on the fork bottoms are from Autotek (a brand I found on amazon with positive reviews) the callipers are cerakoted, but they were heavily corroded before, which you can still see. I didn't have many other aluminium parts that had heavy with corrosion luckily, though a few parts benefited from some scotchbrite mop work in the drill.
Great work on the blue spot conversion, I'm very excited for the finish product now! I guess the fairings might be in a bad state... how many more videos do you want to make for this series?
Cheers Stuart, yeah they’re far from perfect. But not terrible. I’d like to do a few crack repairs, but don’t have the budget to do any proper re-sprays just yet. That’s probably the next video and then it should be “done” 😂
Hello Tom, can you please make a video about the maintenance of the exup valve? Would be very great
I will be doing a bit of work on the pipes in the next video so I’ll try to go into detail on how I’ve serviced it over the years. The main thing is do it frequently, at least once a year.
@@tomsworkshopprojects can i use copper grease or is it better to use something else?
@@Clara-lt4fg That's what I've used in the past, there are higher temp greases available but they all burn off eventually so that's why I find frequency is the key. When I was running mine all year round for work, I did it once every 3000 miles or so.
Hi when is the new video coming up? Cheers from Croatia ^^
Hey John, I’m hoping to get the next one out next week.
any new upload ?
Almost done, just trying to get one more job done to wrap up the front end 👍🏻
Hi, it could be a number of things, check EXUP valve isn’t sticking. Check for air leaks around carbs, or anywhere in the air system. If no luck, it might need a more thorough diagnosis. Good luck 👍🏻
@@tomsworkshopprojects pues no tiene valvula exup no e revisado las fugas de aire lo tendre en cuenta muchas gracias
You really aren't supposed to remove those blue alloy caps, manufacturers advice. I just use the other type of tool and remove the pistons from the pads area.
Great job Tom looks amazing
Well impressed
