Amazing attention to detail, Allen Millyard would be proud. Looking forward to seeing this bike running.
Haha I can only dream, even if it was just the constant stream of cupcakes I’d be happy 😂
@@tomsworkshopprojects I’d be happy being Charlie Weaver! 😂
Well done Tom.
Magnificent micrometer manipulation 👍
Nice one Tom!! For someone who's first crack at 4-stroke top end work, you're doing a might fine job. I'll be sending you my 5 valve Genesis head to do for me while I'm off at work...cheers!
Surgical precision...God I love your videos.
Tom
That is exactly as it should be carried perfection
Well done 🏍️🏍️
Thanks Dad, and thanks for the tips!
Another outstanding job sir.
You are starting to make me think I should take out the engine of my SRAD a give this a go.
Arhh I've waited so long for this video. Thanks Tom
Good 👍
Your videos are excellent mate. Thanks for your efforts in the editing suite.
Cheers! Appreciate that a lot 👍🏻
Don't get too big headed, but you do a great job. You'd think it'd be a boring subject, but to blokes like us of a certain age, it's what we class as entertainment now 🤣
@@ajs3046 😂 I can watch this sort of stuff for hours for sure. Cheers!
Awesome work Tom! I have been watching your videos for a while now, and im always thrilled to see when you upload a new video, always very educational and interesting. I love your work and precision! I have a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R 636c 2006 which is completely disassembled from a nasty accident and its waiting to be restored. I like that there are many similarities between the ZX7R and the ZX6R and you tought and showed me many things and prepare me for the awesome adventure im gonna have with my bike. And I think you also played a role inspiring me to make a UA-cam channel for my project! Best regards from Germany! Keep up the awesome job! 💪
Ah that’s very kind! Glad to hear it’s been helpful and even cooler to hear it’s given you a nudge or two 😂 I’ll have to check out your channel too!
Awesome! Definitely will appreciate that 🤙🏻💪🏻 Cheers!
Grande Tom, altro video spettacolare! ;)
NICE 🙂
Well done lad…
Just in time :D ill be doing my clearances in the near future. Great vid
Cheers mate! I’ve got a few of yours to catch up on, you’re flying through 👏🏼
Very detailed work, nicely done! I had a lot of used motorcycles over the years and this is how they should all be restored. I wouldn't have enough patience to do what you are doing but I am performing my own maintenance though. To me, the most important aspect on a motorcycle is for it to be able to start and carry me from A to B. Everything else is luxury :P I think I am a little bit stressed up by the number of cases where I was stranded and had to call the tow truck :D Waiting for the next video, Tom. Good luck!
I know what you mean! I’ve had to rely on mine for transport to work some years ago, and it really was the bare minimum to keep them going, but now life’s at a different stage I can take my time to go deeper and learn some new skills 🤓
If you had a bit more patience maybe the tow truck wouldn't be needed 😂
@@HalfdeadRider Rectifier and battery blown at the same time on a CBR600F3 and they were brand new and not Chinese :P Tow truck was the only option, trust me :)
Nice work, looks good. But why no valve leak test with some fluid and a air compressor to see if everything went good?
Haha good spot, I have done it but I did it once I put the camshafts back in for some reason so it’ll be in the next video 👍🏻
No need, he is already going the extra mile. If it was a very high mileage engine then I would do that, but even on my 2000 ZX9r I didn't do half of this when I had the head off last year as it was only on 22k miles and well maintained. I did sort out the valve clearances though.
Nice work 👍🏼 Very interesting. How many miles has the engine done..
The clocks show 21k, but the MOT history is flakey. I have a feeling it’s not the original engine, hence why I’m doing a full health check, but so far I’ve not found anything that suggests it’s been to the moon and back 😂
Great work, Tom! Thanks for the tip with the water bowl. I also like the small internal diameter measuring tools. Do you have any link for them?
Cheers Chris, sure. I got the Sealey set from a local supplier. This is the main sealey site link www.sealey.co.uk/product/5637726178/small-hole-gauge-set-4pc
@tomsworkshopprojects you're a legend! Thanks Tom!
@@tomsworkshopprojects thanks Tom. I'll look into it after my holidays!
I thought that the shims will need replacement after lapping of the valves? Since you take away material the measurements will be different right?
Yeah that’s my thinking, which is why I didn’t bother checking them on the strip down, as I knew they’d all change after lapping, I’m hoping they’ll be some that can switch around, or that I already have in stock 🤞
Loving the content. Great timing for me as my zxr750l1 has just dropped a valve😢
@@cm4734 Ah no 😢 hopefully the damage is limited 🤞
Beautifully technical, and beautifully filmed!!🙏 (ps… trying to see what your tattoo is of?😅)
Haha it’s a 6” ruler 📏 never know when you need a quick measure 😂 I was going to measure the springs with it for a laugh but forgot 😂
@@tomsworkshopprojects Inspired by Adam Savage...maybe...
@@GregStuhmcke Yep! His was the first I saw and I preferred it to others, though I opted not to have the numbers and left the green off.
@@tomsworkshopprojects I’ll ask no my questions on your decision to go for 6’’…😵💫🤪🤣
