Hey, i have a small problem at 4:07. When i had a new image, i don't have the channels options underneath. I only have : Channel(Color) - Mix
Hmm, that's odd. Did you choose 'Emission' as the Quick Ucupaint Node Setup option? The emission node only deals with the color channel. When you setup Ucupaint with the Principled BSDF option, the channel options should appear in the dropdown.
@@moltenbolt So my problem was much simpler than that lmao, i just didn't clicked on the right place. I was clicking on the name : channel, instead of the icon next to it... Thanks for the answer tough :D and Merry Christmas man ;)

I’m hoping Blender addresses the texture paint system soon, especially with all the huge updates Blender’s been receiving lately. I’d much prefer to paint on the model directly, but Blender needs a massive overhaul in that area. Paint projection for surfaces, a seemingly critical feature is still missing.
I remember reading early this year that there were plans to massively overhaul the texturing suite and make it more modern, but we'll have to see. That would be super sweet if they did it though!
This is really cool stuff! But i came across another addon that came out recently called "HAS Paint Layers" by Hirourk, which seems better as it is more like substance painter. But i'm just a beginner in texturing, so you may want to give it a try and tell us how it keeps up with ucupaint

So i tried to install auto reload and in the preferences, I could not find the image editor option..
There have been some issues since Blender 4.2. My only suggestion is to make sure that you have the latest version of Auto Reload from the github, I think that has worked for some folks. I haven't used this method in a bit but if I get the chance to test it I'll letcha know

@@LuoQiin I think it was 4.1? I'll check the recorded video to be sure once I'm home. Lotsa people have been having issues with AutoReload since, so it would be good to check 😁

If your "auto-reload" addon did't work, here's way, that helped me with this situation. *1.* I used auto-reoad v3.1.1, because it was the latest. *2.* Then, in addon preferences you'll not find the field for choosing the ".exe" file, but you will find some checker marks. I checked this: *✅Autoreload Run* *✅Autoreload Images* *✅Autoreload Cache* *3.* Then, outside of prferences tab, on the right side of line with buttons of "Layout", "Modelling", "Sculpting", "UV Editing", "Texture paint" etc. search for button with *clocks* and *"AR"* instription. This button looks similar to this: *[🕓|AR ∨].* *4.* Then, i clicked on "|AR ∨]" and in the appeared plane, checked and unchecked the *"✅All"* mark, and checked *"✅Images"* and *"✅Cache".* And clicked some random "🔄" in random order... Loved the vid, really helped me understand UCU a little so i dont feel so damn lost. I came here looking for an answer to a question ive been struggling with and was hoping maybe you could help me here in the comments. I have a pre-existing mesh, what i want to do is import a couple textures as layers, then i want to move these textures around, manipulating them to fit the topology correctly, then i want to save the textures as one image. The reason for this is im trying to make a tattoo overlay texture. Is there a way to achieve this using UCU paint? Again, wonderful vid, ur great at explaining and making sure small important details are left in so im not constantly confused.
Hey, sorry for the very late reply. Yes, you can import images and manipulate their UV locations using Ucupaint - just open a new image as a layer, then open the vector options in the bottom section and change the values. Thank you for your kind words as well hehe

I ended up using your video "External Painting Software Live Link to Blender with Ucupaint" and i just did the layering in Photoshop, warping the textures etc to properly fit the topology in Blender. Funny that another one of your videos was the solution to my question lol.

Yep, just go to the texture painting workspace and you can paint directly on the UVs 😁

Hi, great tutorial! I followed step by step and got a good result, fairly similar to your canister... But I find the workflow quite exhausting. I doubt I you can remember all the steps unless painting is your main/daily task.

How to upload texture to unity?

hey, I am having a issue in the minute 9:38 you do that but in my program looks different I tried different options in the Chanel but i cant do it similar than yours :( I can not explain the issue by text but i just want to say that jaja :c looks good tutorial i will tried to finish and look that happen but i do not expert finish like yours because this issue. Edit: maybe it is for the difference between the versions, i am using blender 4.3 and ucopaint 2.1.4, i tried testing different buttons and options and i make something similar but no too good, enough for keep, thanks for the tutorial

Not at all. I kinda like the fact that it isn't gigantic, so I can still use my keyboard easily 😁

Saddly I must thumbs down your second tutorial because it misses a CRUCIAL step. It doesn't explain to link the texture into texture painter mode to prevent a pink canister of death. A very simple step but a crucial one.
Dangit, I try to be so careful, especially about crucial steps like that. Thumbs down is fair, for sure. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean by linking the texture to texture paint mode, but I don't remember having to do that when using Ucupaint, I thought it linked automatically. I could easily be mistaken though, because my memory is horrible hahah I appreciate the feedback very much, and I'll do my best to be diligent in the future!
@moltenbolt the issue is you start applying ucupaint layers in the layout before doing so in the texture paint tab. Itll work if a material is asssigned to the model before hand, but if its new, as in a person following along, they will get a pink model and missing reference.texture until a new material is applied. Unless you say to switch to texture painter tab and i missed it, in wich case, shame on me and you got yourself a thumbs up
Hey so what if you wanna make some changes? Like you go into quick edit, overwright and then reopen quick edit to tweak to image but you see that the old laayer is under the new layer?
Usually I just create a new layer for each adjustment I want to make. That way I can tweak or delete anything I don't like, or I can blend two layers together 😁

Is there any way to apply a metallic value to only 1 seperate layer instead for all layers?? I just cant figure it out
I'm pretty sure you would need to disable the metallic channel (or possibly set the value to 0) on each channel that you don't want to be metallic. That might allow for only one channel to have a metallic effect 😁
This whole setup reminds me of Zapplink inside Zbrush. It does the same thing and you can choose your external painting application of choice:). Example (Photoshop)

Hmm. I haven't had the chance to use this method in a little while, but I'll give it another shot. My only thought is to double check the file paths, but even that doesn't make sense cuz you're only linking to the external program 🤔🤔🤔 if I find a solution I'll be sure to share it!
I have a question: how do I make it so the base color is transparent, meaning I can paint a piece of cloth with transparent holes in it?

Working with Blender 4.2, I've noticed that if I toggle from Rendered to Material Preview and back, it automatically reloads the image without needing any extensions. (Using PNG)

Can you use Ucupaint to create Multiple Color Decals “layers” while using (default) materials for the base layer? Such as a Pepsi/Coke label on a Glass Bottle.
One of the recent updates for Ucupaint includes a pretty powerful decal process, so I would imagine that this could be done, yeah! 😁

Hitting a snag with this using Photoshop 2025 and Blender 4.2 (and the latest Ucupaint). It's producing the same poor straight alpha results as CSP in this video. The only fix I can find so far is changing the colour mode to 16bits in PS before saving, which bloats the file size.
That's quite strange. As far as I understand CSP gives poor alpha because it's alpha channel values are inversed to the usual (black=white and vice versa). Photoshop has never given me any issues with that. Hopefully an update will clear it up? I wonder if it's PS or Blender causing the issue 🙃

it would be so awesome if you could look up gorilla tag andf their texture styles and maybe try recreating their style of textures, because im trying to do sort of that pixel style texture painting but cant quite seem to grasp it. if its possible let me know, if not then thats fine.

this is extremly helpful! but when i go into the setting for the addon, there's no file botton or anything. just a list of preferences with a few checkboxes, all about autoreloading images, movies, etc. I used the addon link in the description
Thank you! And yeah, there have been several reports of this being an issue. I think someone else in the comments checked for an updated version on the github and it worked. I haven't had the chance to check it myself yet tho, but that's what I would recommend. I know that at least one person got it working 🙃

That is odd. I tested it with Krita at the time that I made the video, but perhaps something has changed. Will check it when I get the chance!
@@moltenbolt Yea look into the Krita setup if you're interested. I have a feeling it has to do with file paths, even when I replace the image it doesn't project. I might just have some arbitrary weird setting somewhere messing it all up....

Thank you for your feedback 😁 It's especially refreshing that you were very polite about it. This video was from early in my channel while I was still figuring out my format. The constant annoying noise is gone and Ive tried to balance my pacing and energy. I like to think that my content has improved with time, and that's largely thanks to folks like you taking the time to give feedback. I really appreciate it!
