The smiling at strangers is a regional thing rather than a 'British' thing... I grew up in an area where smiling & getting strangers as you pass them is the norm.

Always amuses me that this "smiling at and interacting with strangers" automatically means that you're "friendlier". The fact that it could be seen as a desperate need for attention or that you're full of your own self importance could be closer to the truth. Or simply that person is an introvert and doesn't like unnecessary social interactions.

To make people happy and stop killing, rioting and robbing.... USA needs Universal healthcare, basic workers rights like paid holidays and paid sick days... a government mandated minimum wage that can keep up with the cost of living... Basically the very basic freedoms and rights that most of the world has EXCEPT USA. It will never happen until everyone in the USA either unites and demands a better life or stops voting (because Biden and Trump are not just the worst 2 people to be the POTUS, they're 2 of the worst people in the world :) if people boycotted the election the government would need to listen. I read Mcdonalds has started paying $20 per hour but is putting prices up and reducing staff... McD's makes over 20 billion every year they can afford to pay an extra billion in wages. Elsewhere government protect staff, in the US the government protects the businesses against the people who voted for them.

I used to live in London, and it’s a great city with great food available. But tourists tend to just stick to the tourist areas and eat the rubbish food from places specifically catering to tourists. The last few times I’ve eaten out have been at an Indian restaurant, a couple of Vietnamese places and a Brazilian place. Not a bangers and mash or fish and chips in sight.

This... is just misinformed. Don't get me wrong, I am a democratic socialist myself, but definitions have meanings, and these are not it. Anyone who truly understands politics and economics will tell you that this is wrong. Bernie Sanders (while a very cool fellow), is just a social democrat - still wants private ownership of the means of production, but with welfare state. Democratic socialism wants to overcome that - it wants to destroy private ownership as a whole (as even with welfare state, if the means of productions are privately owned, there will always be exploitation - and so, social democracy and/or "socialism combined with capitalism", which itself is an oxymoron, is like having "exploitation, but only a little bit" - while socialism wants to get rid off ALL exploitation) - so that factories are either owned by the state (which is not bad, it just means it's funded by the taxes) or the people working in there, while the factories are controlled by the workers themselves. Communism is just a next step of socialism - basically a society where all labour is automated, thus, nobody has to work (so no, it's not "authoritarian socialism", that is just a misinformation created by red-scare propaganda). So even though this video tries to portray socialism in a good way (which is always cool, IMO), it still spreads a kind of centrist misinformation... I would suggest Second Thought's videos for new socialists. Or if you wanna more details - Philosophy Tube's Karl Marx mini series. If EVEN MORE - than out-right just reading the OG theory (although, that might be a little bit of a more complicated reading).

In primary school no, in middle school I don't remember, I'm too old to remember it (I'm 32 now), but in high school, out of respect for the teachers when we said good morning, before roll call, we had to stand up as a sign of respect towards the professor... many of the schools run by the nuns, in my country (Italy), are equal to state ones, therefore, I don't think morning prayer is done, I think it is only done, sometimes at lunch, but I don't know of course, this often happens in elementary school. No pladge to a flag tho!

Americans say How are you? or, Whats up? and it is just as we would say Alright (or you Alright, or ya-right) or Hiya. And we do smile at strangers as we pass and will often say "morning" very brightly.... but I would not do either whilst in London.

We like ice cold drinks but we prefer to not have ice because it takes up the space that could be used with liquid, One pint of liquid for $5 or half a pint of liquid and half a pint of ice for $5... we like value for money :)

No one mind it is a pretty person that is smilling to you , but an overwheight scary guy with a huge beard its worrying :) Its not the exess of patriotism but exess of crazy ! In reallity english or french if confronted to a choice to die for home and country would lay theyr life more than thoses patriot i bet ! and they probably never put a flag up.

I've seen quite a few of this guy's videos and he gets an awful lot wrong about the UK and I don't mean due to our regional differences. Think he must have lived in the UK during the dark ages.

It's sad just how isolated many Americans are in terms of their awareness of other countries and how things are done there. Also, a great deal of emphasis is placed on the freedom of Americans, but surely freedom also means not living in fear of getting sick and being unable to afford treatment, and not fearing that someone is going to go on a shooting spree in a public place?

He's speaking almost entirely about London, with regards to smiling. All other British people, including those from Manchester where I'm from, will always smile and say something to passers by. You must remember London is a global, city state that just happens to occupy a space in south east England.

Americans " fly the flag " because they have been brainwashed to worship it at school !! Football stadiums are usually in built up residential areas in the UK. The car parks are not huge and you wouldn't be allowed to light a BBQ anyway ! Free refills were BANNED at SUBWAY and other restaurants in the the UK in 2022. NEVER have ice in your drinks in other countries are their water purity is not good. It's one of the main causes of upset stomachs when on holiday. More ice = less drink !!

We don't drink room temperature water in The Netherlands, but tap water, which isn't iced, but cold enough.

Water from our cold taps is, well, cold! Also many of us have Brita water filters which are kept in the fridge as is most 'Bottol'd wor-ta!' Also strangers are always smiling a me as I walk to work in south London. I worked in California for a year and didn't notice much difference in friendliness!

Pepperoni is in Italy but also in every non speaking English country a smaller sized hot bell pepper/a sort of chilli-pepper. It´s soley you English speakers messing that up. The "Italian" sausage what you strangely/weirdly call "Peperoni" is actually named "Salami"

we just take over towns and villages since the stadiums are always near public transport/ are walkable. Everyone taking over the streets and walking to the stadium together is tradtion, or filling out all the pubs and oc drinking in the streets because thats legal. I enjoy lost in the pond ,I do have too disagree with the greeting, I and most people I pass will show some form.of acknowledgement, either a nod ,smile or hello . Americans are indoctrinated into the cult of usa ,so that's why so many flags (pledge of allegiance), and wouldn't texts enjoy succeeding from the rest of the states

Lawerence for all he’s grown up in the UK totally gets it wrong mostly, I don’t know how he grew up but he does talk a lot of nonsense sometimes, or he just says random stuff for the views. Not smiling at strangers, just smiling would be odd saying hello and smiling is common in lots of areas.
