That Washington is near New York really confuses me because i always think its on the other side of the US because ... Washingon is there.
Also we don't call it DC here in germany, just Washington, so its really both the same name wise.

When visiting the US we once got a bus from Washington DC to New York. Took about four hours. It was very cheap, like 30-40 dollars, and went from one China town to the other. Loads of people we met said DC not Washington.

Glad they mentioned the massive rats! New York has loads of rats and they are really big too- on subway tracks, flat rooftops, even sidewalks. Quite surprising even compared to eg london. Also, it’s really dirty compared to London too. Maybe there ‘s a connection there somewhere…… But, maybe along with downtown Boston, Manhattan is one of the most walkable urban areas in the US. It almost feels like London’s twin.

Never been to either LA or NY, but I imagine NY can seem more diverse because the people are more condensed so you get to see all the diversity at once. From what I've heard, LA is so spread out that you don't get that concentration of people. And if LA is like NY in how different ethnicities / nationalities all live in the same neighbourhoods (eg Chinatown) then you'll only see the ethnicity of the borough you live in.
