I am a weekend explorer in the pacific northwest. When you subscribe to my channel you are going to take part in the discovery of an old abandon road, house or long-lost objects. Learn more about this region and the methods I use to get out including my extremely affordable raft the Intex Excursion 5. My aim is to upload at lease one video every two weeks, so subscribe and follow along.
PUNCTURED! We got a hole in our Intex Excursion
We got a half-inch hole in our Intex Excursion so we used the sticker repair kit that came with the Excursion so we could stay on the lake then fixed it with a permanent patch.

You got the state right! We’re more Vancouver than Seattle though....
I just bought this boat today. Watching some of your videos for some good ideas!
Thanks! They're a lot of fun!
Any tips with high wind? We got the same boat with a Newport 55LB Thrust trolling motor, and if there's any kind of wind we get blown around like crazy, Even putting the motor on full thrust can barely push back. Second issue is that the wires connected to the batter seem to get crazy hot - Not sure if that's normal.
Thank you!! I needed to know how to deflate the Excursion 4 and you were so helpful!!
Thanks for all the info
How many lbs do you batteries weight?
When I made this vid I had two group 31 lead acid batteries weighing 60 pounds each. Now I use one lithium battery putting out as much power as both of the lead acid bbut weighs 30 pounds
@@ThePNW thanks a lot i just buy a 60 lbs lead acid battery so i think will be safe i was woried thath 60lbs gonna be to heavy XD
Hi! Thanks for all the great information. I'm planning to get one of this boat but getting a bit confused about choosing the engine. I'll use it in wavy saltwater in Florida. If you can give me advice about it I would be appreciated.
Minn Kota makes a salt water motor or I've seen two-stroke engines on Alibaba. Either way, I'd go with high power for the ocean!!
Hey hope all is well. I got my intex 5 because of you. Family loves it! One question, my boat recently got stolen from my car. And I was going to buy the same Intex five. But I saw an all blue version on Amazon. I had the mostly gray partly blue combo. Same As your in this videos. But do you know if there is a difference in quality between the all blue intex five excursions. I don’t see thenall blue for sale on there website. But I see them on Amazon. And they’re all blue. Thanks hope to hear back. Gotta by another boat. Everett, WA
They're exactly the same... You can see an all-blue one in one of my thumbnails. In my opinion, the blue one looks better. Glad you're liking it!
Good musc
Wow I lov music bone thugs

I suggest you buy a Haswing Cayman T. It is a remote controlled 55lb electric engine. They are so much fun.
New here. Thinking about getting a 45 or 55lb motor. What is the benefit of having 2 batteries? Otherwise can I get a full day on the lake with just 1? Thanks
If you get a 100 amp hour battery you could be fine- it just depends on your speed and time running the motor. This page shows amp draw for Minn Kotas motors, those can help determine how long a battery will last: minnkota-help.johnsonoutdoors.com/hc/en-us/articles/6470890831895-Trolling-Motor-Power-Considerations
@@ThePNW thank you! I saw on another comment that you recently got a lithium battery. If you were starting over and wanted it to last at least 4 hours would you get 2 lead batteries or 1 lithium?
Also you stated you had 2 of those Duracell bci batteries. Were you running those in parallel with 2 battery boxes or just one at a time
@@THEMJ25 definitely lithium! A 100-amp hour lead acid battery weighs 60 lbs each and a lithium is 30 pounds and puts out the same as those two. So 120 vs 30 lbs. I did not connect the two- one battery got me out there so the other should get me back. I put alligator clips on my motor so switching batteries was easy.
@@ThePNW makes sense! Thank you for the kind reply! Really appreciate your help! Hope to see more IE5 videos from you this year 😎
Is there any sort of battery cover or lid you need, or do you just hook it right up?
I have a vid on my battery box... And I would definitely use one because water does splash in sometimes
You mean last "shot" is Mt Adams?
Looks peaceful! We bought one to have on the back of our Chris Craft boat on Lake Michigan. We used it to go back and forth to the beach and dunes. I just installed a wooden floor and trolling motor. About had a hear attach rowing with the little paddles with 3 kids, wife and dog with 3’ waves lol
Haha... These are not fun to paddle. One time when our battery died we were towing an innertube so I jumped in it, tied it to the front and tired the Excursion!
Just want to say thank you for all your videos. I haven’t bought all the stuff yet, but am looking forward to it. Just subscribed too. God Bless!
Thank you! We're working on more videos. In the meantime, buy the raft!! You wont regret it
I dont get why they dont have a culture of boaters putting flags on these things to help warn others
They do but it’s very rare.
The flaggers would definitely miss some deadheads so I think it would give boaters a false sense of security.
@@ThePNWFlag the ones you see, and flag the ones you hit afterwards, lol. As a community it should help others along the way.
It’s a deadhead😊
Super helpful. Thank you so much!
Thank you… these are a lot of fun
i hear it can make sinkhooe really?
it can but its really really rare
What size battery are you using? I have a little 30 aH with a 30lb trolling motor
I have a 100 amp hr battery and a 40-lb thrust motor
What a beautiful place !
Awesome!
🍹👍🏼🍹
Place this motor on m Bris 12.5 ft and worked great in saltwater. You have to get it to the highest speed 5 to get it moving when the tide is up. But on calmer waters 3-4 works good for some speed. Easy to use.
Glad to hear you're using the 40lb Minn Kota. It's what I got for my Mariner 4, which should need just slightly less thrust than yours. (Only used once so far)
I have a 55 lb thrust it won’t be too big?
How are things going ?!
It stayed strong, I never had a concern with it..
Wow. Really informative. Thx for taking the time
Helpful info!! Thx
they really skimmed on that floor valve - shoulda been like the top valves
I agree. It’s difficult to get all the air out
What type of trolling motor do you put on 30lb?
That’s a Minn Kota 40-lb thrust..
I wish....
Can you recommend me a good batterie to use for my trolling motor I have a 30 lb thrust mankota trolling motor just don’t want to buy a crappy one would rather buy a nice one that will last long on the water
For a lead acid battery I would go with something like a Duracell 100 amp/hr matinee battery, maybe something smaller for a 30-lb thrust. If you use it a lot a lithium is well with the price
Did it come with the motor?
No.... I have a video on buying one if you're interested in getting one
@@ThePNW but it says with motor in the listing
@@robkerf oh, then it does
Y'all need to pack up the Ex 5 and make a trip to AZ.. I offer a weekend on Roosevelt Lake.. We launch at Bermuda Flat and make the loooonngg trip all the way to the Salt River Bridge.... Sooo?
Maybe one day! I looked it up on a map and If I lived in AZ I'd be out there every weekend. How many hours is that ride? What batteries do you use?
Well, as of now I only keep the motor and batt combo for emergencies.. I usually use paddle or kite power.. I have a Solstice Voyager 5 for cargo Towed behind my Intex Kayak.. when the fatigue sets in, I put ashore and reverse the rig.. We normaly launch just before sunrise and finish up the "cruiseing day" in just enough time for the storms that roll down off the Tonto Plateau..3 pm or so.. the waves get pretty bad then .. Mabye next season.. Smooth waters and clear skies!!!
Absolutely beautiful 😮
What's the shade cover?
The Bimini?
Big man's around watching !
Do they ask for a permit for that?
In Washington state (US) it doesn’t have to be registered. Some states do require it but I’ve never been asked.
What motor is that?
It’s a Minn Kota C2 40-lb thrust….
the vibes are impeccable
FYI, a 24’ Great White Shark was spotted patrolling the deep end of that lake. Wildlife experts believe it reached there via rivers and creeks branching into the lake only two weeks before.
Nice!
