    MUST HAVE!!
    This vid shows the steps to set up the Intex Excursion 5 along with some tips. Proper inflation and battery placement is shown too. The motor is a Minn Kota 40-lb thrust along with Sony Bluetooth speaker. The are two group 31 marine batteries on board too.
    We use our boat with a minn-kota 40-lb thrust motor so inflation is even more important. Remember, the air pressure will increase and decrease based on temperature so if you inflate in the cool morning it may become overinflated in the afternoon. And if you park in the shade after cruising in the hot sun you may notice it seems like the boat has a leak!
    Storing the boat is also shown; we keep ours in a plastic tote. This keeps the boat away from sharp object to avoid punctures so you can continue adventures without worry.
    We've had three of these boats and never had a problem with punctures and we have never felt we were in danger. I've heard people calls these pool toys but, realistically, they are far closer to Zodiacs than a pool toy.
    Accessories make the boat even more fun. We have a Bluetooth speaker, cup holders and other pockets on ours.
    We have two Group 31 marine batteries so we can move fast without worrying about running out of power- it's happened to me before! Please subscribe to our channel.

    This boat is awesome for the lakes. I even took this boat into the ocean with my minn kota motor. It was a struggle to get back to shore when big boats and ferries created wakes which made it extremely difficult to get back. If i had a stronger motor it would of been alot easier

    Thanks for the tips. We bought one of these along with a Minn Kota Max 55lb trolling motor to start using on our camping trips this summer to do some cruising and exploring. I'm planning to use some PVC pipe and a tarp to make an awning using the rod holders as mounts for the top......really excited to get it going.

      Bama3Dr you're going to love it. Take a look at our other vids, they show that these boosts are much more rugged than they look. We use a 40 lb thrust, I would definitely recommend a group 31 marine battery for your motor.

      The PNW I definitely will check out your other videos. I’ve been thinking about what batteries to go with and I think I’ve settled on the 35ah sealed lead acid batteries that Harbor Freight sells. I’m planning to connect 3 of them in parallel to start and then add a 4th if needed. I like those because they’re light and will be easier to manage. We’ll probably just use the boat for 1 or 2 hour trips so the 3 batteries may be plenty, especially if we’re not running wide open all the time. We got a good deal on the Max motor and it’s supposed to be much more efficient at partial throttle than a standard trolling motor.

    Took mine out for the first time yesterday. All went well, however the 44 watersnake motor is too powerful so I'm going to have to extend the top mount arms down the length of the boat for stability. Top speed and the motor pulled right down into the water!

    Thank you - great video, very helpful. Waiting for my new Excursion 5 to arrive and gathering information. I was curious - when you place one of the batteries by the side of the boat and sit next to it, doesn't the battery make the boat list? It is rather heavy.

    • @ThePNW
      @ThePNW  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you Val! I didn't have that problem. If you put a lot of weight on side you'll have to counter steer with the motor but that's about it. These can hold 1300 plus so even a 60 pound battery isn't enough to cause problems....

    Place this motor on m Bris 12.5 ft and worked great in saltwater. You have to get it to the highest speed 5 to get it moving when the tide is up. But on calmer waters 3-4 works good for some speed. Easy to use.

    It’s not dangerous to encapsulate the battery in that ice chest (black box with yellow top)? There is no build up of sulfur which can cause explosion if sparked? I’m asking because I have the intex mariner 3 and I have been placing the battery (sealed) at the back of the boat and it is really cutting down on my space. I would like to put the battery in some sort of housing to avoid contact with water and have it off to the side so that we have more room. I’m not sure how to set it up and need some suggestions.

I live in berlin and for using the boat i can only around 4-5 months in the year, then is really cold. You think for that time would be good the plug in? Question for you, I have this setup except for a Newport Vessels motor. Boat is inflated to 10cm and I’m scared to use full throttle on the motor as the transom area starts to get creases and I’m worried about tearing the boat then losing everything. My motor had 5 speeds and on speed 3 it goes 2mph and the boat doesn’t crease. But on speed 4 or 5 (5 gets 4mph) the pushing of the motor starts creasing and folding the transom area. Curious if you think this is normal. Thanks

    • @ThePNW
      @ThePNW  3 роки тому

      Ken Dungey yes, just put a little more pressure in the third chamber. The motor is still going to tuck, so adjust shaft angle to counter it. Remember, these aren’t pool toys- they can handle the load. Please, subscribe for more.

    • @jasper7821
      @jasper7821 3 роки тому

      The PNW thank you for the reply. Wouldn’t adjusting the shaft angle higher or lower still make it push forward and tuck in the same amount when full throttle? And over inflate the 3rd chamber to compensate for the tucking? And thanks for that verbiage, I couldn’t think of a good word to explain it 👍

    • @ThePNW
      @ThePNW  3 роки тому

      Ken Dungey I know- it goes against what I said in this vid... but putting a little more air pressure in the third chamber will help keep the motor in place rather than “sagging” at full speed. But just a few pumps, not to a point where it’s stiff! And adjusting the angle will help keep equal pressure on the motor mount so you’ll get more out of your motor at full speed. When the motor tucks it’s yanking on the top two motor mount bolts.

    I just bought this boat and I noticed something that isn't mentioned in the owners manual. Can someone please help me with this if you know?
    The manual states you must inflate the boat in the correct sequence (chambers one thru three) and chambers two and three must match up to the 10 cm mark for proper inflation. However, I notice when we pump up chamber two to 10 cm then pump chamber three to 10 cm it makes chamber two go past the 10 cm mark. Does anyone know if it was intended to do that to make the chamber two more solid or are you supposed to decrease the pressure in chamber two to match 10 cm? Because I have been making sure the chambers match 10 cm but what ends up happening is pumping up then deflating then pumping up and deflating to get both at the correct pressure which is super annoying and a waste of energy.

    • @ThePNW
      @ThePNW  3 роки тому +1

      Justin Ricolcol yup! Inflating number three puts pressure on number 2 leaving it overinflated. You'll get the hang of it. I fill number 2 to 10 cm then number 3. Then if #2 has too much pressure after that I'll let some air out. I didn't get too into in this vid but going over 10cm is ok, especially if you're going to use higher speeds on your motor. But, as the air temperature gets hotter throughout the day keep an eye on the air pressure
