We loaded up our Intex Excursion 5 for another camping trip while the pacific northwest is still warm and sunny! We had our spot in mind but it was a long ride there. We loaded over 600 pounds in the raft, full of camping gear.
Our 40 pound thrust Minn Kota motor easily pushed all that weight in choppy water and going into the wind.

I gotta ask, is getting that battery box that important? We dont plan on trips as long as your, does a basic battery box work? Im new to this, but that still hides the battery and the connections right? Isnt that really all you need?
Yea... I used to just put the battery in a plastic $15 box then wedge it between the rear seat and the boat and it worked fine. I put in the middle of the boat now so I have more room on that rear seat and it spreads the weight evenly... Thanks for subscribing!
@@ThePNWHi, great video. my motor only has 4 foot of cable out of the box (stock). How long in feet does the cable need to be for it to reach the battery in the middle of the exursion 5 ?
@@markweatherall7437 a total of seven feet should work fine. The wire extension kit in the description is long enough… or just extend it on your own…
