!! You really don’t need anything this expensive, brass nuts and bolts are cheaper and will work for a 40-lb thrust motor !!
Sorry man, this thing is not as stable as I’d like. I’m moving to a wide Jon boat. Hey all! The excursion 5 is a great RAFT! It’s a raft. Not a stable boat. If you want a floppy raft then get an excursion 5. If you want to take your son fishing on a stable boat, get a job boat.
Sweet
Hello sir and thank you for these vidz. Very helpful. Would the same battery disconnect switch you linked work for a 24v 100ah lithium battery? I believe the one you linked is 50A. Or should I opt for 100A? Thanks in advance !
Your motors manufacturer should have a chart showing the motor’s maximum amp draw, mine is 43 amps (12v) so that switch works fine
@@ThePNW Thank you for the speedy reply my friend. Seems my motor has a max amp draw of 48A, so it should work as well. Thank you again and have a good evening
Any chance you could share a parts list and part numbers? I like the battery switch you used in your video, but can't find anything like it.
Great video! I was thinking of making something similar. You video makes it a lot easier 🤜🏼🤛🏼
I put a voltmeter on mine with a graph to show voltage level to % drain so I know exactly hoe much juice is left at all times.
Might be a good idea to add fuses/circuit breakers .......
Thanks again for your videos, lots of help.
Thank you!
Awesome man, I've been doing research on these this weekend cause I want to use a group 31 battery and those pre made boxes are too small
Hell Dietrick... It is kind of fun to make your own too. Did you end up building one?
@@ThePNW Yup! Very happy with how it turned out too, I ended up using a group 29 115Ah battery
@@deitrickorullian505 if you don't mind, please upload a pic to the Facebook group, I want to see how other people are setting theirs up. I just bought a lithium ion battery... After years of lugging around lead acid batteries I wanted a break!
@@ThePNW Sure. Lithium would be awesome, just too expensive and I'm already over budget for my boating setup, maybe in a few year when I prove to my wife this all is a good idea ;)
@@deitrickorullian505 I'm also building one of these with a group 31 battery, using a snap top battery box from ManBat. waiting for all the parts to come over the weekend hopefully will have it built some time next week to take out on my dinghy
We built something similar but also tried a Newport battery box we got on sale.
The issue with the Newport box is the 60 Amp breaker we ran an induction cooktop and it kept tripping.
However It works great with trolling motor. The Bluetooth battery monitors are a great little add on. We put the review on our channel.
Their battery box is pretty nice. I saw theirs just before I bought the components for this build. They’re good people to, I talked to them about their wire extension kit and they were very helpful.
@@ThePNW I couldn’t buy the parts for the cost of their box. We got it for $42.
@@CreekRanger believe me, I know!😂😂
Thanks for these amazing videos. I've heard mixed reviews on Minn Kota and Newport, which is better at this point in time?
I’ve never tried Newport Vessels motors but my Minn Kotas have NEVER let me down. I’ve thrashed the prop on rocks, bent the shaft nearly 90 degrees and it just keeps on going!
@@ThePNW Thanks so much! I just ordered my Minn Kota and hope to make my battery box following your video. Much appreciated.
Use hole saws. Much easier. Great great build here man.
Thanks Chris, I have them now and they are definitely easier with a cleaner cut.
I don't have tool and space how is if you make it and sell it
It would be better to buy this one. It's probably cheaper too! Newport Vessels Trolling Motor Smart Battery Box Power Center with USB and DC Ports, Black, Medium www.amazon.com/dp/B01AE2TG7G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_792F9D6NEFM7J7NG3KRY?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Like the Battery Box set up. Have you done anymore upgrades
I ended up getting a lithium battery and that made like much easier. Im working on some other makes to make it easier for other boaters to see us on the water...
@@ThePNW Thanks, I have a Lithium Battery also for my excursion. The only thing is I'm trying to figure out how to hook up my Jtron Battery Disconnect switch to the battery in my Mini Kota Battery box. Any Ideas.
@@brianmeadows2617 honestly, I should have just got that box! What's the issue? Is there no space to mount it? ok
@@ThePNW No big issue, just figure out the wiring to connect the switch
to battery without taking apart the box. I was just trying to go from your box connection with your wiring. Thanks, great videos
