Thanks! Watched both your videos and learned a lot. Just got the 40 lb thrust motor and a new Excursion 5 inflatable and will try it out for the first time this weekend. Excited, but a little scared too. Your videos helped me feel more confident.
The PNW By the way, any suggestions for a boat ladder that will work on an inflatable without being almost impossible to use. I am an older woman without a lot of upper body strength. Just in case I can’t enter the boat at a dock or at shore for some strange reason...like if I fell out of the boat!😝
Robyn Quintana is you’re in the middle of the lake it’s going to be hard to get back in. Unless you’re doing something dangerous you’re not going to fall out :)
Thanks for the video. I should like to ask which is the maximum range of this engine with one battery and which is the maximum speed that it can reach ?
Δημήτρης Γιαννακός a 105 amp/hour battery will last a little over two hours at top speed with that 40 pound thrust motor. I don't know the speed, but kayakers struggle to keep up with us when were at full speed. Subscribe for more info...
The PNW that sounds fun and I don’t wanna be asking for views but would mine checking out my review on the Intex excursion 5? I’m really trying to get my review out there and get some more subs and any veiws comments or anything I get would be very appreciated but just a thought and yeah maybe I will get a motor
Iam thinking of getting the Haswing Protruar 1.0 instead of the Minn Kota. What do you think about this motor? Ive read that it is a bit more noisy but is also a bit stronger, super efficient and is brushless.
That looks like a great motor. The LED battery meter is a big plus (not to mention saltwater capabilities). I use Minn Kota just because they’re reliable and the shaft will not break. If you get it send us some feedback please.
I watched both your videos and thank you for sharing some unique information that no other videos shared. Meanwhile the battery box amazon URL is pointing to a different product than yours. Could you please let us know the Make/Model of the battery box you are using.
Hello, thank you for your comment. I actually made my battery box myself. It would have been cheaper to just get the Amazon box instead (it won't accommodate a group 31 size battery though)...
I’m also curious if you had to register your boat with this. I did a quick search in washington and it looks like there was no need to register unless your on federal waters. Anything in and around our columbia river here is federal I’m guessing. I’m also wondering if any of our lakes around here are federal waters as well? Would love to hear your thoughts and can’t wait to see more vids!
bosandzinaa because of the length and limited power an excursion 5 with less than 10 horsepower doesn't need to be registered in WA. I wouldn't worry about federal water, every deputy that has ever pulled up next to us didn't even bring up registration.
The PNW You’re awesome, thank you! I did read that also but then they stated unless you’re on federal. I’m getting the mariner 4 which is even shorter anyway, planning to get the same motor. Thanks, again.
I got a question. I want to get an excursion 5 for using in ocean/channel/basically salt water in a bit choppy waters. Do u think i can use that? And is trolling motor useless in ocean? Do i have to have an outboard gas engine for that?
ALI WAQAS Minn Kota makes a trolling motor for salt water, you'd probably want their 24 volt motor. The boat itself would work, if just look closely for wear.
@@ThePNW yeah i will definately look for wear n tear plus the proper stowing of boat after salt water use. But do u think that only a trolling motor can push an excursion 5 weighing 600 kgs in ocean/salt water channel and a little choppy waters? I dont have any experience of that and would like your word for it. Should i go for trolling motor or get an outboard 2.5 or 3 HP gas engine? Coz thats a bit expensive
ALI WAQAS it's hard to say, the motor -especially at 24 volts- could push it in heavy wind and against current (we have a vid of us in choppy water in heavy wind). I don't know the sea conditions in your area so I can't really tell you
Nice. Do a battery set up video from ur connections from the trolling motor to the battery. I'd like to see how u connect the plug
I'll work on that
@@ThePNW yeah could do with that please
Agreed, that would be very helpful. Think about us newbies who truly know nothing!
the box is 63+37shipping now lol ca dollars thx for sharing.
Check again in a week... These prices have been fluctuating. That stupid motor mount shouldn't cost $70. I'm working on a vid to cover this
Take a look at our latest camping vid!

Thanks Robyn.. and no reason to be scared, these aren't pool toys! they are rugged and can handle more than you think.

@@ThePNW Is there a way to recharge the battery or will I have to buy a replacement?
D yes, you can buy a battery charger. A $60 marine battery charger is all you need...
Just ordered the boat today. Thank you for sharing all your experiences. Really helpful 👍
Doofmasterflex thank you! I am making more vids... Please, if you'd like to know when I upload, subscribe!
Is group 31 battery will fit in the battery box? I’m using newoort vessel’s battery box
What battery do you recommend?
Hi O’marr... take a look at this vid- ua-cam.com/video/qjDdWlG2-j0/v-deo.html Please, subscribe for more!
Can an excursion 4 have a trolling motor?
Paul Hammack definitely... Just get a motor mount ($30).
Nice I haven’t really been interested in getting a motor for my Intex excursion 5 but I might now
You won't be disappointed... it's like floating down a river on a tube all day
