Hi it's Jeff again. As I mentioned last week I bought everything I need or at least I thought I did after watching all your videos, but I realized I'm lost in one area..the battery, in every way possible.
I am not mechanically inclined.. at all. And if I'm lost, it means others are too. I've looked everywhere online and can't find articles or videos on youtube explaining how to properly set up the battery and making sure not to fry the Minn Kota trolling motor.
If you could make another video explaining how to connect ring terminal leads to alligator clips, what battery meter and circuit breaker you use and the name of the paint etc etc I have a group 31 battery or I would have just bought the Minn Kota power center battery box
P.S. This video of you sitting in front of your computer and going over exactly where to buy everything etc really is a great way to teach us.
If you don't have the time to make the video I understand but I can definitely tell you that lots of people are buying this Boat and motor because of you. It's going to be a fantastic and affordable escape from Covid world! 🤣
Thanks again your hard work is incredibly appreciated and your videos are fun to watch and I'm not easily entertained!
    Sincerely,
    Jeff😎

Thanks Jeff, these are more fun that "normal" boats!
To this day, I have never used a fuse on the motor wire. When I first got mine I just bolted the ring terminal straight to the battery and i've never had a problem. Don't let the lack of a fuse stop you from going out.
I started a vid showing how to build the box but there's a lot to cover! I'll look for links for the voltmeter and USB chargers and put them in the description. Those come with wiring and have the fuse already installed in the line.
As far as painting the top, i just scuffed up the lid with sandpaper so the paint would stick then put a few coats of white using Rustoleum brand spray paint.
I'll work on putting the vid together so keep an eye out!

If you get a 100 amp hour battery you could be fine- it just depends on your speed and time running the motor. Thanks Don.. I actually started out with a SeaHawk and it was great. I had a 30-lb thrust on it and it was quick even with that motor so yours should be pretty fun. As far as switching goes, it depends what you’re looking for; the Excursion 5 can hold 1300 pounds (including motor, battery and passengers). The Seahawk is 500 pounds (but double check that- it’s been awhile 😬) but lighter so you’ll get more speed and maybe less battery use to go the same distance as the Excursion…

Minn Kota has never let me down. I smashed the propeller against rocks and bent the shaft on submerged tree trunks and it never broke

I'm sure the Minn Kota manual advises it, but I don't use one...

Because of your videos I bought the Excursion, motor, two 105 batteries.. everything. Your videos are definitely the most informative
Are you going to make more videos this coming season?

Nice! They're so much fun. I am- covid closures had made it difficult to access some lakes but we're getting on the water soon

The intex excursion boats are great. I had an excursion 4 several years ago. We had loads of fun with it and went all over the place, many adventures with that boat. Used it in back water ways, big lakes, bays, on the coast, you name it. My friend and I even pgot caught in a storm with it. I had a minn kota 30 on it, a deep cycle marine battery and a minn kota power center battery box. Used to carry a hand held vhf, spotlight and mushroom anchor. I rowed the boat when conditions were calm then motored when it got windy or rough. Half the time I ran on speed 2 or 3 and that battery lasted all day. Anyway I sold my excursion 4 many years ago. I might buy one again to go to deer island biloxi with my gf, plus to use as a dinghy aboard my Hunter 33 sailboat.

Why did you give it up? The Excursion 5 can hold up to 1300 pounds... Ideal for camping and hunting. If you do it, please upload pics to the FB group

@@ThePNW I bought a Cal 25 sailboat and thought...."oh i don't need this anymore". Then when i got my Hunter 33, i realized i did need it. These big sailboats are NOT going to be cruising in those shallow waters or pulling up on the beach.😂
